Be up for canoeing, haven't done it for years.

Not too sure about horse riding, but could be interested if struggling for numbers. Never ridden a horse before though.

I'd be up for some canoeing too. Dave, is Windermere the proposed venue for that? Will we be able to realistically get the cars into Windermere at that time of year? Parking is a bit scarce (and pricey) as it is.

Windermere isn't the closest lake, so there may be something nearer.

There is a lake next to the campsite, would it be cheaper and easier to buy some inflatable type things and play there?

Also it would avoid parking problems, overcrowding from day trippers and we would all get on at once for as long as we wanted :)

A thought although maybe hire might be better? Probably could do with some lifejackets etc. too, unless anyone who's coming has the kit already?

See what Dave says, there might be something more local. :)

we could always walk from the cmpsite up letrigg? or around derwen****er? take a picnic with us?

don't know how keep people are to walk.... we could walk to derwen****er (thats the lake keswick is on) and hire row boats ? or even motorboats if you're feeling flush !

edit: why does it filter d e r w e n t w a t e r ?! lol...

It's filtered because it says twat in the middle!:rofl:

PP thats the most sensible thing I have ever heard you say. I was thinking the same, just bring our own stuff and leap in the lake!

Rob - life jackets are for losers!! If you can't swim how about DON'T GO IN THE LAKE!!! or is that too sensible? lol! Where did the danger go? Health and saftey nuts should be banned from this trip! lol!!!

well canoeing sounds good to me!

The place i was thinking of is seathwait the other side of the lake it has a car park where parking is free and there is plenty of space for picknics and also lots of places to swim and jump from things into the water but im up for anything so what ever is decided i will be up for so we will see what happens see ya all soon simon :)

Well I need at least 4 people for horse riding so we get a discount! lol. If not, someone lend me their sat nav and I'll go on my own!! :P Least I can go for a good gallop up the fells then lol.

I'm up for jumping in lakes though, thats always good. I have an inflatable boat somewhere haha!

I know when swmbo used to work at a riding school they wouldn't let folks wander off on their own, and the last time I went horse riding in the lakes the horses knew exactly the route they were meant to take and would not deviate from it, bloody boring tbh :( She's still up for it tho:confused::rofl:

I meant if a load of people go who have never ridden before then we will have to ride at beginners level. Lots of places in the lakes offer rides out for more experienced riders - therefore if I went on my own then I could go and do that and have a bit of a gallop - with the guide.

You don't seriously think I'd want to wander off on a horse on my own in the middle of the lakes do you?! Seriously, I've been around horses all my life! They are unpredictable and even if it's your own horse it's not safe to do that because if you came off or something happened no one would have a clue.

Thats what confused me:) We must have got a poor place last time ( mind you it was in the center of the 'touristy bit' ) but even after saying we could all ride we ended up on something more akin to 'seaside donkeys'

Yeap, sounds very like one I went one when I was at a Haven holiday camp many years ago! (although I dont think it was an experienced riders one, and come on, what did I expect? lol)

Check this place out too, bit far out for this meet, but I'd LOVE to go do this!! they do fell and beach rides, looks awesome. I love heavy horses wub8.gif

Loz, given that the archery went down well last year, is there anywhere nearby that does clay pigeon shooting?

Yep defo !!!!!!

Me and swmbo a really looking forward to this.

swmbo might be up for it she use to ride horses years ago.

Hmmm, ladies can go horse riding, boys can use the shotguns. Sounds a good plan to me.

Indeed sounds a plan.

I don't do horses. I went horseriding once and couldn't get the horse to stop. I can feed them but just can't ride them. I would happierly spectate.
