Hello fellow Octavians,

Got my 63 plate Mk 3 HB 1.6TDI SE just before Christmas as a replacement for my much-loathed Clio 1.5 diesel (133k). Metallic Topaz, I think it's called. A fetching shade of brown, to you and me. Really like the car. Does everything I need. Very smooth and comfortable. Pity it doesn't have the multifunction steering wheel but had to compromise to save myself the bother of travelling. My tall teenage kids adore its spaciousness. I just find it a joy to drive :sun:

Hi Tim, welcome to the forum. See if you can twist the dealers arm to do a deal on a service plan - what is your estimated annual mileage, if less than 10K per year, you should be on fixed (annual) servicing.

Hi Tim, I think you will enjoy the TSI once you have put up a few miles - I was pleasantly surprised by the way my estate pulled once the turbo goes on boost, which starts at just over 1200 RPM. Feels pretty much like an old-school 6 cylinder engine.

Hi Warrior, am interested to see that. Keen to run it in and then get a feel for what impact the turbo has. Sounds like pretty low revs before it kicks in. I read great things about the 1.4tsi engine, will let you know my thoughts once i've put a few miles on the clock first.

Picked up a white VRS estate TDI in the January big deal.

Winter pack

Adaptive suspension

Black style pack

Looking to get the car remapped once ive hit the 1500 mile mark.

Also got it booked in to get window tints next Saturday.

Enjoying it so far (less that 24 hours in) replaced a Toyota GT86, so massively different.

Wouldn't mind knowing what the must haves for the car is etc

Picked up my SE Sport yesterday, put about 200 miles on the clock and have to say what a truly superb car. Had to be pretty light with my right foot as the 1.4tsi engine is lively. The amundsen system is very easy to use, works well with the buttons on the steering wheel. Very comfortable ride, nice sport seats. Delighted with it.

Would heartily recommend this car to anyone.

The amundsen system is very easy to use, works well with the buttons on the steering wheel. Very comfortable ride, nice sport seats. Delighted with it.

Would heartily recommend this car to anyone.

Glad to see that you like it Tim, I think it's a great little engine. Keep an eye on the stop-start performance though - is yours fitted with an AGM, or does it have a EFB battery?

Evening all.

Bought my mk3 Octavia 220ps petrol vrs four months ago now. Before that I had a 09 mk2 face lift.

This new one was the indoor display model so despite being second hand it only had 56 miles on the clock when I got my hands on it.

It's fairly standard with just the heated front seats added on.

Nothing planned for it until out of warranty and maybe then just a remap to keep things exciting. Until then maybe a brisky sticker or two.

Hello All,

I have just upgraded from a MK1 Octavia TDI130 elegance estate to a MK3 (14 plate) VRS TDI estate. Its bloody lovely. What an amazing machine as I see you all know from the above posts.

Been blasting round the North Yorkshire Dales all weekend to test it out, including the Buttertubs pass. Not too fast though because she who must be obeyed was screaming to much .

Looking forward to hearing about the continuing additions to this thread.
