New to skoda and so glad I opted for this car... compared to the likes of vauxhall it is another level in both drive and interior refinement.

When ordering the car I assumed, as do many it would appear, Smartlink came with the car as standard, in all the literature I have read there is nothing to say other wise, however reading the brochure again a few days before collection I found it was an option and the dealer neglected to let me know. This was disappointing as we had discussed the stereo features and what I wanted from the system in great detail.

I got onto the dealer ship about it and at first they where every unwilling to accept responsibility for misleading information etc. However, several emails later and one face to face conversation I now have a 60% discount on the feature and awaiting activation next week.

To be fair to the dealership this was the only issue I have had through out the whole car buying experience and once I fully explained why I felt mislead the salesman apologised and between him and his manager came up with an acceptable resolution.

Thanks for that. I have had a similar experience. I'm waiting for them to get back to me. I'm almost positive that I was told Smartlink was standard in my vRS but when I queried it the salesman mentioned Mirrorlink, so I'm beginning to doubt myself.

If your motor is factory built I doubt it will come with smartlink. I too have the VRS.

Stand your ground with the dealer though, it is not very well advertised that its an optional extra if advertised at all (I couldn't find anything)

Hi Octavia newbie (Bidey) here.

I have had a Rapid 1.4TSI DSG for 2.5 years and did a happy fault free 32K miles in it. But was show its age in poor plastics marking and missing modern DAB radio and steering wheel controls etc.

Thought time to upgrade and as retired now speed is not the biggy it once was, all about comfort easy driving and cost effectiveness.

So saw a 1 year old Octavia 1.2 TSI DSG with 8K miles and bought it 1.5 weeks ago, have done nearly 2000 miles allready trip to Lincoln from Perth and return and other motorway runs all at 70mph gave me 53 MPG and cruised brilliantly. Love the bells and whistles.

Slight issue in that i believe clutch on gears 1,3 and 5 is slipping, so Skoda accepted problem and are taking next week for investigation rectification etc

Hi, Have just collected my new Octavia, Beige paintwork with beige full leather heated seats. Car looks really good. Not yet driven it any significant distance. Tested the satnav (Amundsen) to get me home, found this to be hopeless on this journey, would have taken me miles out and it did not recognise when I reached home. On the plus side, I was very surprised to find that my car qualified for a £500 prepaid fuel card which was more than welcome.

Picked up mine today. I am now _officially_ an O3 owner

Yesterday I picked up my workmate for the next 5 years, an Octavia Scout, 2.0 TDI with DSG gearbox, Premiumpackage, Tow and Webasto package, Lane assistant, Drive Mode selection, KESSY and Alarm, Heated windscreen, Smartgate and Electric drivers seat with memory.

 

Driven about 250 km so far (155 miles), only thing not working is the memory function on the seat, and the dealer has messed up the KESSY a little when installing an alcolock, otherwise it´s a huge step up from the 2003 Subaru Forester I have been driving before.

The problem with inheriting a company motor - no idea what it is (model/spec wise), and shaky condition from the previous user!!.   Octy 3 Estate 1.6tdi 4x4 manual, i'd say SE perhaps with a tech pack maybe.  16inch alloys.  Has Nav, DAB, Cruise Control, Auto Main Beam.  Name that model?

 

Got it home, and its had a 2stage machine polish, sealant, and then wax to finish.  Inside properly detailed.  Looks respectable now.

 

So far seem to severe up 49mpg over a couple of tanks.  impressed with the space ava in the cabin and boot, compared to the exterior dimensions, my last motor was much bigger and had less room inside. Do around 30k per annum, so it'll get a decent test over the next 2years.

I have now joined the club, I picked up my Octavia Mk3 1.8tsi L&K estate in Candy white on Saturday and a 270 mile trip home gave me a chance to give it a good run and then spent 3 hours on Sunday morning going through the handbook setting the toys up. I haven't had far to travel to get here as I've been on the Yeti forum for the last 3 1/2 years.

I finally p-exed my much loved Superb 4x4 at end Sept, and bought an ex-demo vRS hatchback - Moon White diesel manual with:

 

• Black design package plus (19s; sunset glass, black gloss trim, colour maxidot)
• leather heated seats with silver stitching
• winter pack (heated front screen and washer nozzles)
• front and rear parking sensors
• Canton sound
• temp space saver spare wheel and tools
• heated folding downlit external mirrors

engine tight just yet, but loving it so far. Have also taken the 19s off until next Spring and replaced with black 18 Turini alloys running Avon WV7 winter tyres.

Covered so far 10,300km over 8 months, helped me move house and fit all the parts of a classic mini in the boot

 

Now i got to know the car i'm thinking of playing a bit with it - Eibach Pro kit springs, 12mm H&R DR front and 22mm H&R DRA rear spacers, Sparco Assetto Gara 8x18" and then possibly do something with the engine.. but one step at a time - as this is the main family car...
