  1. I'm sorry to hear all of this, it's a real nightmare I am sure! Seemingly the issue is word against word as far as the school and Police are concerned and both seeing their hands as therefore tied. Should it get to the stage where you meet the criteria to escalate it to the NI Public Services Ombudsman (link outlining below) open a case then direct MLA or even better supporting MP to chase them, nothing moves faster in the public sector than when an elected official is on their case. Likewise with the Police Ombudsman if you feel the action or lack there of would be incorrect on their part to date. If not already done so, I'd strongly suggest via GP seeking a form of mental health assessment to establish the mental health impact side, this would help in demonstrating injury caused in all aspects, if this was then to worsen sue everyone involved. With regard to body camera, have the Police suggested this in writing at all and specifically included the intention of within a school? Have the school been advised or consented etc, I'd hate to think that was the advice off the cuff by an ill thinking junior officer which very quickly could find other parents going mad and heading to media etc the headlines sensationalised. Echoing other comment on this, I would be fearful of this making her more of a target than anything else. Is home to school transport provided under an Education Authority blue school bus pass? If so definitely chase them independently and not as part of a larger overall thing, make them start their own process too. All modern type yellow EA buses have internal CCTV now as do all TL vehicles. For either go directly to the depot concerned and require the manager to meet over it and always a plus to allude to 'legal advice' you may or may not have sought and been advised to approach them in this way (make them sit up). TL for example publicly big themselves up that all their depot managers are qualified child welfare protection officers... Put them on notice and move to doing all in writing ASAP to hold all to account. At the very least in either case drivers can in such circumstances be made aware and will keep a look out and in the event of something happening verbal or physical can at the very least be very credible witnesses where peers may not do so or CCTV of a sea of children proves fruitless. Behavioural issues can result in individual children being refused transport. Equally if under the EA home to school transport can be provided by taxi in certain circumstances, but not a solution in itself. The duty of care within that side is more or less independent from the school itself and will have its own policies and procedures. If paying for home to school transport by bus and it's a published timetabled school service, the same protections / duty of care would apply as having a bus pass. Don't let it all melt into one big complaint where everyone is involved and no one thinks it's their problem as the other is in on it now. Schools policy, Police investigation, chase both and ask for an update and outline with timeline of what they have done to date (again "I have been advised to request......." , I'd keep any such interaction in writing via email only and to a specific persons work email address only as even a failure to respond would open up escalatory Ombudsman intervention (as little as that would achieve in itself it helps hold people to account). 'Lets sit down for a meeting' or telephone meetings etc leave no real accountability, if you feel it's not working stick to in writing only and make it clear why. Also if you have the support of an MP and or MLA keep in contact with them on as personal a level as you can, ask them if you can cc them into any email chains if for no other reason than for the other party to see they are acutely involved at all times and keep them focused. It's all too easy to think 15 yo only another 8 months of term time left until likely not our problem anymore... Random one also, don't underestimate the power of an overweight over paid big mouth when on your side... Start pestering Nolan if you dare, call, email and social media begin any opening contact with something catchy like in the above 'bullies shot my....'. Genuinely that marmite of a man could actually make things happen in the space of a few days that following the lead of individuals yourself can be fobbed off indefinitely. With regard to the 'BB gun' in Northern Ireland air powered articles such as this for several years now are legally classed as firearms and a firearms certificate is required (over 1 joule I think) broadly speaking anything merely resembling a pistol is banned now even paintball guns unless long barrelled additionally it is illegal to carry such a thing in a public place without lawful authority, even one below the low powered threshold would likely be classed as an imitation firearm. That would be something worth quizzing the officer dealing with the 'investigation' as it adds an entirely new element to the now banded around willy nilly 'hate crime'. Imitation firearm in a school setting might bring a different aspect of importance to how it's prioritised... Have they sought to locate the reported article at all and establish it's legality? Consult MP / MLA / Nolan on that one too. https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/articles/dealing-bullying-and-getting-support
  2. Both our daughter and my wife are teachers and both with considerable experience in difficult schools. I asked them for ideas of how you might address the terrible situation in which your daughter finds herself, and have included their comments below - hopefully of some help to you: "I would go to the police (if not already done so) governors demand to know what the school. Governors and police are doing If he is religous ie catholic appeal to the church who will be part funding the school Find a new school I wouldnt be sending her back If all else fails go to the press" "If the kids are in uniform when they are doing this stuff the school has a duty of care "safe guarding" to his daughter" "New school! The school sound inept with tackling bullying" "Bodycam may just attract attention and become a theft target"
  3. 98% waxing gibbous this evening - full 'Blue' Moon to follow..............
  4. My 53-plate petrol Polo is compliant. No plans to get anywhere near though.
  5. What a tube, 90% of Nolan's shows are responded to with the same line live on the air when he pesters them cold from little more than a call his team has just taken. A question for school principal or board of governors / Police "if these individuals did any of this to a member of the teaching staff, would you treat it any differently, if so can you explain why that is?" That'd harden them! If back to school on Friday/Monday I hope your daughter has a better atmosphere than before and that the toxic morons involved have matured a fraction over the summer and move on. I hope she understands that they are just worthless souls on the fast track to a pointless life. Some day they may have a daughter of their own and remember how they acted and feel ashamed.
  6. Passed MOT this morning, taxed her just need to monitor coolant issues
  7. Check the battery fitted is an EFB or AGM battery, should say on the top. They might have fitted a standard car battery which are not suitable and will have a short service life. (EFB and AGM generally don't have a 5 yr warranty) Plus did Halfords recode the battery management system when the battery was fitted? To reset health parameters, tell it that a new battery is fitted and what type EFB/AGM it is. I suspect not so the battery management still thinks the old battery (inc type and health data) is fitted. The manual states you must only jump start using the ground tab and not the negative post as you are bypassing the battery current sensor and confusing the battery management.
  8. A few from yesterday's visit to both Packwood House and Baddesley Clinton.............
  9. £285 sounds about right for the dealer and reasonable. £350 is well over the top considering they probably wont use genuine parts. I offer them for around £250 using genuine parts (or £200 with non genuine parts) as the gear oil is very expensive and the dealer buys in such large quantities to get a discount to offer it at that price. Regarding the filter, you are getting confused with the 7 speed gearbox which the filter is classed as a 'non-serviceable' item, the 6 speed gearbox filter will be changed with the service.

I'm happy they've kept the climate controls & physical buttons. Asside from the tan colour from these media images I think the interior looks pretty good.
  11. It is not just Tories it is the Labour party that are going to appease voters by dropping the Green stuff, well in London. All the Labour Mayors fault, not the Ex London Mayor & Prime Minster that knocked about in old cars. The same carry on with house building in England now, forget about pollution and waste water just get the houses up & change any regulations current or recent that were there to help the environment.
  12. Proper toddler politics that will only hurt their own residents. With any luck it will bite each and every one of them.
  13. What's crazy is when TFL puts a ULEZ camera up at a set of traffic lights that causes all the non-compliant cars to take a detour past the local primary school in order to avoid the camera. What the Mayor should be doing, is first putting a ULEZ camera outside the primary school to prevent a rat run, and only then putting one up at the local traffic lights. Children deserve clean air outside their school, not a rat run for dirty diesels.
  14. Motability Customer Services got me sorted out with my new 'Motability GoCharge' Card and App / Account. I had missed a letter out of my e-Mail that i registered. I am signing in just now using it until their Technical sorts it out. Odd but let me check things out. It has a fantastic map of chargers, Charge Place Scotland and others, and the list is quick to run through showing the closest chargers, available or not. It is a case of one card to tap at the Partner Charging Providers and then the spend goes on to the account to be paid later. The App is showing the charger information, charging speed, kWh taken, cost etc in real time. Time will tell how it goes but the Customer Services Lady tells me there are 3,500 with cards registered and quite a few in Scotland using it without issue. She also had BP Pulse send me the Authorisation Code for the subscription and i opted for a card from them. I have an Account already so now a Subscribed member & the monthly credit will be added to my Credit on my account. Larry.
  15. I remember pre-mobile phones when you had to get information from the reference library, ask your parents to use the landline phone (only during cheap rate and for local calls) and knocking on your mates door to see if they were playing out. I even remember having a party line on the phone and having to ask the operator to connect a call.

  17. As per the title, does anyone have any experience or recommendations for a small but quality body camera that can be worn on the front of a blazer pocket? My daughter has been picked on for being dyslexic for over a year now. She has been soaked with energy drinks, hit with stones/rocks, bottles in the face and elbowed in the chest. Assaulted in corridors in school along with being shot in the head, threatened with rape/being thrown out emergency doors at speed on the bus, and recently an attempt on her life with one little individual mounting a grass verge at speed in his car to try and hit her. So I’m looking for something quality she can wear that’s not too big that will connect to her iPhone for viewing video or sending images or sound etc. Any ideas? As I’m not sure of makes or where to start really, and need something before she starts back to school. Thanks folks 👍🏻
  18. If you are attributing : "if the car has been jump started using the incorrect method that the resultant current flow risks damaging the current sensor/battery monitor attached to the battery negative terminal cable clamp. This could then result in the battery charging management system not having the correct info being received from the monitor and can do one of the two things I originally mentioned. So it could overcharge and damage the battery plates internally, or it may be undercharging." as the words of your Skoda service agent then they are talking nonsense and you are repeating nonsense, if you understood where the simple shunt resistor lives (its in parallel with the negative cable from the battery to that stud) and its purpose you would have known they were talking nonsense. I would not have needed to hear the words, just seen their lips moving 😄
  19. Kid gone to sleep, traffic looks to be clearing, so I went for a drive and charge. 50% to 96%, received about 35 kWh. Free is indeed very nice. This new Tottenham rapid was only about 1/3 in use with cars come and go, despite being free for today. I was planning to charge to 80%, but at around 70%, I fired up new Vampire Survivors game in the car and lost track of time.
  20. Many thanks for the help, will hopefully get it done on the weekend if parts arrive and then move on to the next problem.

I think MK4 has multifunction center physical button, that acts as volume button in this picture:
  24. The Lady on the Channel 4 news is 79 next year and her husband is 80 and friends from the coast will not come to London to visit them & pay £12.50 to do that. In their older than 2005 petrol or pre September 2015 diesel obviously. £6.50 a gallon or so to run vehicles, maybe with very good fuel economy and certainly as good if not better than newer ones.
  25. I saw a now deleted post on Twitter this morning. A chap so annoyed that he was having to sell his classic Citröen DS because of ULEZ. He deleted it after being told by many people that as it's from the 1960s and therefore over forty years old and ULEZ exempt. How many more Muppets haven't bothered to check the facts before whinging online about it.
  26. My guess, and it is a guess would be one of the heater flaps.
  27. Hi, You are correct it s as far as it goes.If you pull it downward it will come out altogether.Be firm when pullig down.It should and will tight, but percevere and all should be well, mine was.Cheers Andy

Should be under warranty, they've got to prove that you haven't been negligent in your care of the vehicle and allowed stuff like bird 💩 to sit on it for a prolonged period or you didn't try and scrape it off rather than sponge or soak it off.
  29. Please don't - under ANY circumstances. They say they can do it, they'll bodge it and charge you a fortune. It needs to goto a decent bodyshop. I'd estimate that'll be £6-800, plus the wheel refurb, which should be about £80.
  30. U need to have version B headlights, otherwise the eyelash coding won't work. Have u checked this physically? Those r instructions I created, and I've clearly stated that u need Version B.

Looks great but the virtual cockpit not being fully covered by the instrument binnacle ****es me off for some reason
  32. To be fair, it's not all that much of a surprise when you look at the interior of the current Octavia and the Enyaq. Definitely follows the theme... Agree it does look nice - and at least the air con controls are still physical dials rather than only being available through the touch screen.
  33. With all due respect your speculation of the results of jumpstarting directly to the battery is nonsense. Also this does not make sense: I think you meant to say no.
  34. What a horrible situation, you have my sympathies Shot at with what? An air pistol, a BB gun? How old is your daughter?
  35. How about taking three parking/charging slots then..... https://www.forbes.com/sites/bradtempleton/2023/02/23/tesla-ccs-magic-docks-revealed-but-with-short-cords-can-non-tesla-cars-really-charge-at-them/
  36. That is simply informing you that because you have too many power consumers working (ac, heated seats for example) the start stop is temporarily disabled as inappropriate or because SOC/HOC is insufficient. SOC/HOC = State and Health of Charge battery management data
  37. Ah now i see that you need an intermediate firmware. Will sent you another one
  38. I have done this. I put the receiver under the rear bumper, drivers side. You do need ODIS-E to program the module once, as it will not come with appropriate settings. Once ODIS-E'd, you can then just use VCDS to adjust. My thread here:
  39. Most Arsenal fans going to watch Spurs would use the tube or overground and vice versa.
  40. A proper old school battery tester, it can't be beaten if you know how to use it correctly I still use mine but the scale range was designed when vehicles had far smaller batteries, if you look at the staircase type scale between the yellow Weak and the green OK you will see that each increment relates to a different battery AH capacity range, the needle is nearly as thick as the increments. Inspired by mine I made a similar drop tester for intruder alarm and access control system batteries using car cigarette lighter and an LED array, its time the Chinese did something similar to the above tester.
  41. Turbo failures are only common on cars that get neglected for oil changes, usually because they do a low mileage round town which are the worst conditions for oil to be left unchanged!
  42. A small but related aside I was reading the other day. More than 150 models of new cars are too big for parking spaces. https://www.theguardian.com/business/2023/aug/26/more-than-150-car-models-too-big-for-regular-uk-parking-spaces
  43. Turbo failures are relatively rare. Ignition problems are far more common.
  44. Alternators in recent cars with start/stop will not put out a constant 14.5V, so are no longer easy to test. An independent test of the battery at a non-Halfords establishment is a good idea.
  45. Doesn't scrub up to bad, put a battery on and topped up water, turned the key and away she went.

I fitted Michelin crossclimate 2s for a variety of reasons and have found them to be reasonably quiet compared to the energy saver tyres. Not a scientific assessment as the old tyres were near their limit.
  49. That`s been a week with the new Bilstein B6 non DCC dampers. Using original springs. Everything that others have said is accurate. Much more stable through corners, huge improvement in dampening, not hitting bump stops. Road imperfections, potholes etc feel much less crashy than standard. Money well spent.
