  1. Dunno. I've seen 2 turbo engines that went full James Bond smoke screen and all they needed was new/rebuilt turbos.
  2. Not sure, but it's certainly good practice to change the belt if you need to detension it.
  3. Does it go onto the swept area or not? If not, you can probably chip it off with a cold chisel.
  4. And still has overboost errors based on your original posting. Other than clear plastic wraps on a pristine original colour vehicle, wrapping is an aesthetic choice. Just don't expect everyone else to love your lime green and purple "hippie scheme", your "pink pig", or Berlin Brigade camouflage or whatever.
  5. Bare-faced lie. I agree your decision to never use that Stealer again, and think about a name and shame in the dealers' section.
  6. At minimum check the oil and coolant levels (all of them, not just the engine), and tyre pressures. Maybe change the engine oil.
  7. Routemaster and EnterName have reminded me of an incident I was in some time back on a single track road. I was approaching a sharp rise, and oncoming traffic was screened. I would have been screened from it as well. There is a large passing place at the crest. I had passed the midpoint of the road between the previous passing place and the crest, when a Mercedes S class appeared over the crest with no intention of stopping and a clear expectation that I would reverse because they were in a Mercedes. Well, I stopped, very obviously switched the ignition off, and folded my arms. They gave up their attempt to bully me.
  8. OK my mistake on the centre bore, but it is as important as the quoted figures.
  9. 70mpg for fellow Britons. I think the friend is telling porkies!
  10. I'd have said that a traffic stream that is still moving has priority over one that has stopped, and thereby ceded priority. The only exceptions to this involve signage and/or road markings.
  11. Rather than me try and remember the exact form factor, if you publish a photo I'll can translate, and even do a size recommendation.
  12. I'd agree; do you want good and reliable, or do you want cheap?
  13. In that case, and I'm fairly sure @Breezy_Pete will agree, it should be impossible to set a variable service schedule even using a computer, never mind from the dashboard.
  14. I don't know the detail engineering of specific fitments; just that it's usual to stick to OEM wheel and tyre sizes all round.
  15. BossFox hasn't visited the site in 2 years. 😞 A fact I easily established by hovering my mouse pointer over his profile.
  16. The full sizing of the wheel, will be literally cast (alloy) or stamped (steel) on the rim. It would be of the form 17.5x7.5 (overall size) 5x112 (Picked centre diameter and number of studs/bolts used) ET42 (inset/offset) and there's a dimension for the centre bore as well. You need to match the PCD dimension and the centre bore to your car but the others can vary.
  17. @Duggie12 - Forget Halfrauds, and forget the VAG main stealers. Look for a local garage or fast fit outfit with a Hunter rig, and ask them for an opinion. If they agree with Halfrauds, try someplace competent like A for Audi.
  18. You do, unless the drive system is specifically engineered to deal with the different rolling radii.
  19. Why would it, unless you fit different rolling radius tyres front and rear or side to side? It measures rotational speed and rotational speed differentials across axles and front to rear. The wheel circumference doesn't get involved in how the ABS works.
  20. More so than RedeX, first available in 1953 (or possibly earlier)?
  21. There's a lot of good technical info here already; I'll just add anecdotally that 17" wheels do ride better than 18" with no other changes beyoud same rolling diameter but higher sidewal tyres.
  22. Decat, because there's no point in having a cat on a TDi engine anyway.
  23. Glad you understood the joke, and the serious point was that it tests the battery connections, battery top fuzebox and fuzable link. Unfortunately, it starts looking like a failure in the immobiliser, convenience ECU or if you're lucky the ignition switch. I suggest consulting a proper auto electrician, not a Skoda main stealer.
