  1. Maybe try somewhere like "A for Audi" instead of a Skoda main stealer? Or there used to be a taxi/private hire specialist in Glasgow who did mostly hacks and Skodas.
  2. Never done a Skoda, but usually more like 2 hours tops to get clean water out through flushing the block and heater, and reverse flushing the radiator.
  3. Ask both the local garage and the main stealer how many hours labour they're quoting for, and what their hourly labour rate is.
  4. Based on your stated use case, you want this engine rather than a TDi, unless you're prepared to get an (illegal but undetectable if done right) DPFectony.

  8. I'd expect that prior to control wires. I've never experienced a "blown bulb" on a car with control wires.
  9. @Joob @Breezy_Pete @nta16 - This makes sense to me now. I know that a 1998 Octavia 1 has alternator control wires, but wasn't previously aware that a Felicia even might have them at that age. Certainly a battery light not illuminating at ignition on is usually diagnostic of a loose, broken or corroded control wire.

  11. @thomasaspin @sepulchrave - Now I can tell that "NGK Part No - SIZFR6B8EG" is a different plug grade to what @johnmlilley actually needs. John, fit the right plugs for the engine first; that will definitely help even if it's not a complete cure.
  12. How can you tell? All I can see on the Euro page is a stock number, not a plug code like on your quoted Fleabay page.

  17. Well, there you go then; the discs are just plain worn out, particularly given that grooved discs are normally made by cutting grooves into cast iron, and then case-hardening them.

  21. Not off-hand, but did you not just say you have 4 185/65R15s on the road wheels? Try one of them?
  22. No idea; they were fashionable back in the 1980s and 90s but I've never seen an advert for them since ~2000.
  23. Almost certain the issue is the washer pump (yes singular, the car uses the same pump front and rear).
  24. Do either of the washers (front and rear) still work?
