  1. As others, you've more likely to get the strainer in the sump pickup blocked. Of course, if it goes, it could take out the oil pump, which then gets blamed. So I'd suggest changing the strainer, and then regularly changing the oil and filter.
  2. Most likely not turbo oil seals then, but always good to check.
  3. My first thoughts would be the battery top strip fuses, then one of the wheel sensors (but then you read the codes anyway to find out which corner to look at). ABS pump is a third order of probability, but the fuses must be intact to get a good code reading.
  4. Might I suggest checking the tappet clearances carefully, then the points gap and plug gaps, then set the distributor angle to get the fastest hot idle with the engine running, then bring the idle speed back down with the idle adjustment screw?
  5. Likewise. I rather like "dragon yellow"!
  6. I'm not surprised, but it's not the first call for a signalled ABS/ASR failure.
  7. OK, this might sound like odd questions, but does it smell of burnt engine oil? Has the car started using (more) oil around the same time?
  8. Seems fair, with the note that this will only tell you if the electro-mechanics are working, not if the eventual level selected is correct.
  9. Self-levelling has failed. Read the codes to find out why/where.
  10. Well, I would consider the gearbox output shaft to be the differential input.
  11. It's probably possible, but if you have manual door mirrors, why would you even think you have the hardware for heated door mirrors, since you don't need the wiring looms or the electric mirror adjustment switch?
  12. typically 7 or more seats in 3 or more rows.
  13. Yes and Yes. Does the top hose pressurise before the temperature gauge moves? Suspect open or broken thermostat. What temperature do you get from an independent source like VCDS?
  14. Do we think all the "new" rules will make a difference to competitiveness? It will be nice to see bigger wheels though.
  15. Don't know how the OP drives, but it's that corner, yes.
  16. Sure about that? A Ford Galaxy and a VW Sharan (and indeed a Seat Alhambra) are all the same car bar badges.
  17. Now imagine the lift pump having to refill the fuel line before the CR pump gets any fuel.
  18. Of course, you could always leave the front windows standard. I've seen police rip illegally heavy tints so the owner has to revert to standard.
  19. I didn't say the pads were latching; I said the pads were won and/or the lights were latching.
  20. Usually referred to as "speed cushions". Also @roottoot makes a good point about roundabouts; is the LHF wear worse on the outside edge?
  21. Need more detail on the wear pattern, and are all 4 tyres the same make and model?
  22. You're presuming that the lights haven't been caused by pad wear, and aren't latching.
  23. Is that a yellow tennis ball or a white tennis ball?
  24. You don't say which engine this is, but I'm wondering about fuel draining away from the pump.
