  1. I did all four on my MK2 TDi. If one failed, the other 3 might not be far behind plus it wasn't much more effort to do all of them... They shouldn't be needed for regens and even during start, they aren't used much on modern diesels. I think it's just personal choice really

It's not impossible, model years (MY) start around July/August so a car produced from about July/August 2017 to July/August 2018 would be a 2018 MY Anywho, relevant section of the wiring diagram is below. I would expect your car to be covered under 'For models with no electric damping control' which implies both sensors should be present. If the OP is feeling handy, they could always check the BCM connector to see if those pins are populated. I was somewhat surprised to discover the level sensors now connect to the BCM rather than the headlight range module though...

Well that's confusing, I'm pretty sure there should be both front and rear level sensors, I found what appears to be the rear level sensor in @automass's previous images: @automass - it might be worth adding your VIN too,mostly as I think @varooom can decode them which might explain what's going on. @ApertureS and @varooom have either of you come across a MK3 Octavia only having a rear level sensor?? If it is a valid config, it could certainly explain why the OP's lights are point skywards assuming the front end is now higher without a level sensor to correct it. Just to make sure that I'm not going mad, I've just stuck my arm under my car and as expected, found this on the front passenger suspension:
  4. Pretty much. About the only thing to be aware of is the latest full Europe ECE AS(A1) maps won't fit on a 16GB card so you may need to select an alternative such as ECE 1, ECE 5 or ECE 6 depending which non-UK countries you care about. There is a guide here too:

  7. If the link rod between the suspension and sensor is missing or broken, the startup sequence would work normally and no errors would show... Assuming OBD11 can show measuring blocks then you should be able to find the front/rear level sensors and headlight aim - all of which should be changing during a normal drive. Until you know what's causing the issue, it's impossible to know if it's a simple job. I'd probably take a look at the sensors first to check for obvious damage/misalignment then try logging the measuring blocks... If everything looks fine and the data is changing as expected, then I'd get a garage to do the headlight alignment.
  8. They would have likely dropped the front wishbones to replace the shocks. As you can see above, the level sender is attached to the wishbone so it may have been disconnected (mechanically, not electrically) or damaged during the shock replacement.
  9. I thought they were always on the left hand side regardless of LHD/RHD. Front should look like this: Rear depends on the suspension, a 1.4 TSI is probably a torsion beam: Check the sender arm orientation matches the above. It's certainly not uncommon on multi-link systems to have the arm facing the wrong way which messes up the levelling.
  10. After suspension work I'd expect the normal suspension position would need relearning (basic settings) and the headlights adjusted with appropriate equipment. It's also worth checking both level sensors are still correctly attached and undamaged
  11. A clockspring/squib issue would effect all buttons as it's a shared connection. It's much more likely to be a roller-wheel issue, probably some dust or lint that's got into the mechanism (it's an optical sensor). I'd be tempted to remove the buttons, open them and give them a clean first

  15. It'll use a MOST (optical) to transfer the audio etc to the Canton amp. Based on the above diagrams, it has: - Power and ground - MOST in and out - 8 channels for the door tweeters/woofers - 1 channel for the front speaker - 2 channels for the dual coil subwoofer - One extra connection between the amp and headunit, not sure what it's used for...

  18. ASR or traction control would be in the main bank of switches near the gear level. The only thing I've seen for that hole would be the manual headlight range/level adjustment for halogen headlights. Maybe try a VAG retrofit specialist such as https://www.vagcarcoding.com/ other companies are available but might be pretty far from Kent

  20. I'm 100% convinced it's for a MK2 Octavia not a MK3 - based on the included convertor and the panel being a perfect match for a MK2 manual AC panel: That's definitely a MK2 version, you need a MK3 one so return it all and buy the correct version for your car
  21. It's an adaptor that listens to the CAN-bus and will then tell the headunit to power up etc. If it's designed for an older PQ35 car, it may never get the right messages to turn the headunit on. You need a convertor designed for MQB cars. At least that's my best guess based on the text - quick google translate:

I'd probably try changing: IDE11524-ENG137044-Vehicle function list BAP 2nd generation: expansion-display_configuration_0x45_msg_bus Try "Infotainment data bus" and clear the faults, if it keeps coming back, maybe try "not activated" and clear again. If anything weird happens or you get loads errors, set it back to "Comfort data bus"...
  23. Looking at the text on that VW-RZ-01 adaptor, I don't think it supports MQB cars. All the dates line up with PQ35 cars. I'd suggest you contact the seller for advice.
  24. Looking at the facia the android unit is built into, it looks to be designed for a MK2 Octavia rather than a MK3 - does it even fit regardless of the power issues?
