Can you please forgive me...???
I would have thought being based in Sweden a Volvo was compulsory! Welcome back to Skoda.

Hello from Croatia/Canada
Wow. That really has survived incredibly well. What a fantastic example. Good luck with the mechanical restoration and keep us updated on how it's going.

headlamp washer cover?
I would have thought Ebay would be your best bet to honest.

Interference engine or not ?
Looks in really good condition, thanks for posting the photo. The MK1 has a small following here, but to be honest, it would get many envious looks other than from a select few, me included.

New brake disc damage
Yeah, I'd agree. That is a machined finish and not damage. £40 for genuine sounds like a good deal!

Something dangling behind front grille
Yeah, it definitely belongs somewhere and shouldn't be free range. The thin part of that looks like a plunger switch of some sort. Does it move? Bonnet open sensor? In an ideal world, you Skoda dealer would be kind enough to have a quick look for you. This could help https://skoda.7zap.com/en/cz/

Number plates? What design / surround have you got?
Lucky you. Our roads are bordering on lawless these days due to massive cuts to policing numbers. UK seem to rely heavily on cameras to police, which are of limited effect. With an actual police stop, they do find other issues, bald tyres or what have you and as such have a big benefit to society.

Gandalf's Evolution
"hence, this is going to b a long long post - u've been warned!!" Lost for words! Thank you for posting, I would never consider doing any of those things to any car I've ever owned, but I can see it is your passion and total respect! It is interesting to see the dedication some folk have to their cars, and you have a fine looking beasty. Acutaly, I do really like the large Superb lettering on the front lower grill. Should be factory fit.

Low coolant warning - but coolant level is OK
Yeah, my MK1 Octi did it every year over the 12 years I had the pleasure of owning it. First time it did it, I was very alarmed. After a while, it just became a charming quirk!

Hello from Croatia/Canada
Welcome. That is a very nice 105. Feel free to load more photos, it looks it fantastic condition.

Interference engine or not ?
Skoda used to be the butt of many jokes in the UK, but the Favorit/Felicia and more so the Mk1 Octi were the cars to change all that for good. Theses days they are a repsected brand, but without the snob value. We have lots of cheap parts for the cars as they get older. A thriving aftermarket too. Thanks for your replies. It is interesting to learn about running a Skoda in a different market.

Number plates? What design / surround have you got?
I think one supplier is off, but at least it is controlled. Unlike n the UK where there are some ridiculous numer plates about with stupid fonts and spacing, very often illegal. Sadly we have virtually no road police to enforce the rules either.

Interference engine or not ?
I wonder why they changed it? Did the MK1 sell when in India? Are there many still on the road? Sadly, in the UK, the mk1 is becoming a fairly rare sight these days. I miss my MK1, had it for 12 yrs! Best car I have ever owned.

Ceramic Brake Upgrade
You can buy stuff that stops it sticking to your wheels as much. https://www.halfords.com/motoring/car-cleaning/wheel-and-tyre-cleaning/armor-all-shield-brake-dust-repellent-300ml-836913.html

If money was no object ..... ?
I have no experience of Greek taxis drivers and was unaware of the nuances of the market, but that was a funny tale. Money no object car? What would I have? Really tricky, but as its fantasy and we can ignore realities such as economy, reliability and servicing. I would like a Citroen SM please.

Ridiculous Skoda main dealer servicing costs
Yeah, that's the kind of thing that is just plain greedy. Taking the pee in my opinion.
-
Interference engine or not ?
That is very strange. ALL manufacturers in the UK have an active spares department. It makes them money. I see from the boodmo.com that the 2004-2008 Skoda Ocatavia is listed as the Skoda Laura. Unusual.

Ridiculous Skoda main dealer servicing costs
https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/483719-any-citigo-e-iv-user/ Not cheap. £240 for not a lot according the info on the bottom of this thread.

Interference engine or not ?
Dont worry, our Skoda dealers have worked out how to charge a lot too! Nice showrooms and free coffee is paid for dearly. Places to avoid once the car is out of warranty. Weirdly though, it can be worth calling them for parts as they are not always any more than aftermarket.

A picture would be useful !

Skoda Fabia 1.4 MPI Rough Idle!
We all love that. Just a thought, temperature sensor. Had to replace 2 or 3 in my Mk1 Octi over 12yrs. The temp sensor sends infor the the ECU, and given they are £5 a pop, worth a punt? My Octi has a slightly lumpy old at 3.5 yrs old, and was still there 12 yrs later. Character.

Interference engine or not ?
$250 sounds more reasonable. I was wondering, do you have Indian companies that make pattern parts for Skoda, or are they all import? Are they taxed heavily? $4.169 gallon! If you could send some over here!! We pay $7.20. Ouch. Cool bike ride. I've seen some videos on Youtube of Enfields in Indian mountains, looks very perilous. I take my hat off to you Sir!

Returning a car to a dealer?
Sorry to hear of your car stress. https://www.honestjohn.co.uk/problems-with-a-new-or-used-car-your-consumer-rights/ I would let them repair, but only one. I would make your thoughts clear to the dealer. if you think you are going to return, start making a log of events and times etc, for future use. With luck, it'll be a software update these complex systems often need and all will be well. HTH

Interference engine or not ?
$490 actualy sounds like a lot of money to me. I would expect to pay less than that in the UK! I genuinely expected India to be a lot cheaper than here. Go on then, how much is a litre of fuel? There are a lot more Skoda's on Indian roads than I imagined, probably more than in the UK. I've visited the Czech Republic a few times, and 80% of cars are Skoda, no surprise. The Ambassador, what a car. I am a fan on the Royal Enfield too. Rode a 500 Bullet a few years ago. Such a shock as I ride a Honda 4 cylinder, but the Enfield had so much charm and was great fun.

Starter button sticking
Sounds very reasonable.
