Pairing Keys for a Fabia III with Pushbutton Start Using VCDS
Hi Tickers, I believe that some branches of Timsons can supply and code VAG keys much cheaper than dealers.

Small accident (rear bumper spoiler?)
A small detail I think I can see in the first picture - in the left-hand corner, just under the outer edge of the reflector - is there a break in the substrate moulding?

Locking wheel nut key
Damn those hammer-gun monkeys.

Digital Dashboard
How many miles have you done since filling up?

fob battery
You can tell when a car salesman is lying - their lips move. PS. the battery life can be extremely variable, depending on quality/make.

Digital Dashboard
Hi Drew, welcome to the forum. Are you saying that the gauge doesn't move at all - even when the tank is nearly empty? I can't speak for the digital dash, but my analogue gauge needle stays locked on full for about 55-60 miles after brim-filling the tank, then starts to read contents as expected.

Turning off direction display on small screen between speedo and rev counter
Hi Flyfisher, welcome to the forum. That's the maxidot screen - you can change the display with the right-hand scroll wheel on the steering wheel. Mine is usually set to show oil temperature.

FWD or AWD?
When we bought my wife's Fabia from a Skoda dealer last year, they failed to spot that it had a 6-speed box in it! - meaning we got the110PS version.

Ola from Portugal!
Where did you hang your hat before moving to Portugal?

Posted 'Sad' emoticon because there's no 'screaming, homicidal' one.

Ola from Portugal!
Hi Jiggz, welcome to the forum. I assume you have the estate version of the Fabia?

FWD or AWD?
If you still are unsure, post a picture showing the rear axle, preferably from in front of rear wheels.
-
FWD or AWD?
Hi Jamie, take a look under the car at the rear axle, if it's a plain, beam axle with no centre differential housing (round-ish lump in middle of axle), and no driveshaft coming from the front, it's 2 wheel drive.

Battery dead or something else?
I thought the battery SOC function was deleted sometime before MY16 - my 65 plate Octavia does not have it.
- Another Octavia Mk3 overheating!

So I went and bought a Jaaaag

Getting best mpg
One problem with using cruise and trying to get maximum economy is it will always try to maintain commanded speed - which in rolling country means it will back-off on downslopes, then throttle-up as soon as it senses a speed drop on the upslope. Depending on the gradient, ACC might even start braking on the downslope. Using 'smart' right foot and Mk.1 eyeball, you would allow the speed to creep up (within reason) on the downslopes - then allow the speed to bleed off a little on the upslopes.

Best or Favourite Cars You've Owned/Driven
When I was building my Cooper S rally car, I had to decide between twin SUs or Weber DCOE - I went with a Reece Fish carb - absolute breeze to set up.

Trailer light leds and canbus
Good morning Dave, welcome to the forum. 1. Yes, Mk.3 is Canbus. 2. Yes, almost certainly given comments seen from other members switching to LEDs. From your last sentence, did you use your previous trailer with current car?

Weird warning
My wife had a similar issue with her Fabia - the symbol was displayed above the plan-view image (car silhouette) in the matrix display.

Engine Coolant Level Low message when is fine
2006, way too long! The Fabia is the wifes wheels, it has the 110PS engine. Not as smooth as the Octavia but goes very well. We got it from a Skoda dealer in Eastbourne - who thought it was only a 90PS! Pretty odd as the 6-speed box should have given it away. Result!
-
Weird warning
Hi John, welcome to the forum. Was a symbol displayed at the same time? - Possibly a warning that front assist is unavailable (radar sensor masked by debris, etc)
-
Engine size on newer cars
Hi Belinda, the 90PS would be ok - but keep an eye out for one with the 1.0 TSI 110PS engine.

Engine Coolant Level Low message when is fine
Hi, yes - have been away from home for far too long. Wellington boy, but moved to Taradale in 1980 because of the horrible winters. OE trip in 1984 - still here!
