Tried that, just made them run a bit faster in my direction of travel - damn things were more stupid than chooks!

I was in roadkill heaven last month, I visited the shrine at Pennant Melangell in North Wales - the road up to the church was literally crawling with hundreds of young pheasants (around the size of quail) - It was extremely difficult avoiding wholesale slaughter!
  3. Thanks JR - that looks like the perfect solution for DSG SS haters.
  4. My understanding is that part of the function of the voltage sensor is to restrict battery charge to around 80% when charging from the alternator - allowing capacity for regenerative charging under braking or 'coasting in gear' conditions.
  5. That vacuum fault could very possibly be significant - I'd certainly try to get to the bottom of it if it's still in the system.
  6. Hi Chris, my wife has a 2018 1.0 TSI Fabia, I don't detect any particular juddering from the clutch or engine when pulling away - not quite as smooth as my Octavia 1.4, but certainly no need to pull more than around 1500 RPM on launch. I'd suspect some sort of clutch, flywheel or engine mount problem if it's juddering when "holding" on the clutch.
  7. Hi Wgms, hopefully your V5 will get to you shortly - my wife recently joined the Skoda clan with a Mk3 Fabia, the salesman did say that the DVLA was experiencing some delays in issuing new V5s - she got hers a little over two weeks after taking delivery.
  8. That attitude is not useful Joss - you may be new to the forum but please consider that the poster you responded to was only making a comment about using manual mode.
  9. Hello Richard, welcome back to the fold - testing with a toe in the water?
  10. They certainly should have the capability - whether they have it is a completely different question!
  11. Hello, that is your rear collision avoidance system activating. The rear parking sensors activate the abs braking system to prevent you from reversing into something.
  12. From the fusion reactor that Xman compares with hydrogen fuel cells.
  13. Hi Wgms, welcome to the forum. A great pity re your problems. I agree it's not unreasonable you keep their loan vehicle until they have refunded yours - but make sure you don't have your dealer (stealer?) try to do the same thing I had happen when my Octavia had a warranty issue! The manager at a certain Skoda dealership in Ewell, Surrey, threatened to report my loan vehicle as stolen when I refused to return it unless I had written confirmation that the faults had been fixed! Needless to say, I immediately moved to a different dealership for the remainder of the warranty period. Good luck.
  14. I think fuel cells may be a little closer - also not keen about sitting next to what is effectively a H-bomb on a leash.
  15. Then start proceedings in County Court. You can add the case filing fee, which isn't that high anyway, onto their final bill.
  16. I disagree, allows me a little time until hydrogen fuel cells become a practicality.
  17. Tena koe Malcolm, welcome to the forum. Whereabouts in Godsone are you? I'm interested in doing this too - so that I can change my coolant without risking causing an airlock.
  18. I'd say that does indicate significant contamination, change filter too.
  19. Hi Giff, welcome to the forum. A little counterintuitive, but depending on the reason why it is using so much oil, you should still do complete oil changes - if piston ring sealing is the issue, there will be significant combustion product contamination to the oil. How dark is the oil when wiped on a clean cloth?
  20. I estimate SS worth around 2-3 MPG on my 8 mile commute. Plus helping to live-up to the £30 VED band.
  21. 1.4TSI, 150PS is a great engine, so effortless from a little over 1200 rpm - 2.0 145PS would be a hoot, but can't have everything I guess!
  22. Hello Scuba, the problem seems to be that the fairly small constant drain from the dash-cam causes other systems to not fully shut down when vehicle is off and locked. Combined with the only partially charged state of the battery under usual conditions, this can cause issues with service life.
  23. Spoiler alert - it's a pretty basic tool! I will try to upload a pic of what I made, hopefully my computer skills are better than my metal-working ones Will include approx. sizes.
  24. Hi Noms, I'll check to see if I have some spare alloy strip - will you be able to collect?
