  1. Can you post a picture of pipe showing its location? Has a test been done on the coolant for possible head gasket leak?
  2. Hello, welcome to the forum. Unless the Aussie model is significantly different, that does not look like a Mk3 Octavia expansion tank.
  3. Is it possible that something was left drawing power to cause the original failure to start? Have you tested the battery terminal voltage with the engine running?
  4. Hello, welcome to the forum. Please can you be more specific on what (I assume coolant) pipe caused the original issue? Is your vehicle Left or Right hand drive? I'm not aware of any coolant piping out in the wheel arches.
  5. A voltage drop is normal, due to surface charge dissipation, once charging is stopped. 12.54 is about 85% fully charged for AGM/EFB. If you unlocked the car to get the 12.54 volt reading, there will be modules awake and drawing power. There will always be a very small discharge, even with everything switched off and modules in sleep mode.
  6. What instrument was used to get the 12.8 volt battery reading - and under what conditions?
  7. Hello, depending on how (and with what) you tested the battery voltage, a reading of 12.8 volts should be ok - however, a more significant test is what the terminal voltage drops to when a load is applied to the battery - when the starter motor is operated, for instance. It is common for numerous and seemingly random faults to be reported when the battery is failing.
  8. Neither does the Mk 3 Fabia or Octavia. I'd also very much doubt if a 2013 1.6TDI Fabia had one either.
  9. Pretty sure that type of pedal action will not be by design. Probably a piston cup seal letting by - what happens if you hold down the clutch pedal for an extended period with the engine running in gear?
  10. I would hope that the water-proofing seals are military grade - or minimum IP65. Edit - I see the complete unit is IP54, control module is IP68.
  11. Fantastic, great news about the fix. Thanks for the resolution update.
  12. If you consider that the hood will spend practically its whole life in the closed position - with the strut horizontal - the ram will be well lubricated.
  13. I mounted mine on the Octavia the same way as I think it looks more 'correct', no issues after 8 years.
  14. I believe that you will find that the five year / XX mile cambelt change advice has been changed.
  15. I'd suggest a little caution if proposing to exceed limit by 2MPH through cameras - I know there's supposed to be an 'allowance' plus a percentage - but I've also seen claims of penalties being imposed at 2 - 3MPH over!
  16. Tyre tread wear, a different tyre brand in identical size to original fitting or even changes in tyre pressures can cause small changes to speedo calibration. Remember that the indirect TPMS uses the change in tyre rotation speed to monitor pressures. I recall when there used to be measured mile markers on roadsides to allow drivers to check speedo calibration - can't say I've seen one for a very long time! I consider it a very good idea to occasionally check the calibration in correct conditions.
  17. No, at an indicated 2MPH overread, your speedo reading is most likely within the manufacturers permitted tolerance, according to UK regulations. A GPS speed reading is likely to be more accurate than the speedo - provided the vehicle track is relatively straight and there is a constant and clear sight of the minimum number of satellites required (usually 3 or 4 satellites) at acceptable angles to the receiver
  18. I believe the UK regulation states that a vehicle must not underread at all, but may overread by a certain maximum percentage - AFAIK, in order to ensure the instrument is compliant to regulations, all manufacturers opt to calibrate the speedo to read high.
  19. If still doubtful, request dealer to carry out a complete coolant change as a condition of sale.
  20. That coolant colour could possibly be a result of system being topped up with G13 - which, IIRC is purple - I believe I have seen references to this colour change before. I believe that G12 & G13 are compatible with each other, so there shouldn't be any issue. From what I see in posted image, coolant doesn't appear to be contaminated.
  21. What engine - TDI or TSI? Get the ECU checked for any recorded faults (DTCs) Check the battery. 'Juddering' could be misfiring - possibly caused by faulty injectors - or failing engine mounts allowing excess engine movement.
  22. Correction - try a search using the term 'error workshop' I'm having a lot of issues at the moment where the page becomes unresponsive when I do a search!
  23. Re. the heating issue, check if the coolant expansion tank is marked 'Mit Silicat' on the side and check the colour of the coolant, there is a possible issue of the Silicate 'Teabag' contained in the E.V. breaking down and releasing granules into the coolant - partially blocking coolant passages, especially in the heater matrix.
  24. Try a search using, I think 'error gearbox' I recall quite a number of posts for it.
  25. Good morning Matt, seems to be a pretty common issue with some DSGs. There are quite a few posts on this issue. AFAIK, the issue is due to a faulty micro-switch on the selector lever, I believe there is a repair kit available and appears to be a relatively easy fix.
