  1. What voltage are you reading on the meter at the terminals when the alternator is operating?
  2. Not necessarily, the bad cell will still be in circuit (series), but drop its voltage when its on load.
  3. Happy New Year. I'd suggest first checking the battery terminals for tightness, then having the battery load tested - dropping to 8 volts strongly suggests a faulty cell in the battery.
  4. I assume that you actually meant you changed the settings FROM 70 AH to 90 AH for the new battery?
  5. Not sure if it applies to vehicles with ACC - but do you get the 'Following too Close' symbol that appears in the trip meter display when you close up the gap to the vehicle ahead?
  6. Interesting - does that Synchronous Compensator operate in the same manner as a Rotary UPS?
  7. Could it be that you were already reacting to events at the time? clutch, steering and throttle inputs will all override FA.
  8. Hello, welcome to the forum. What leads you to think that Front Assist isn't working on your vehicle? If Front Assist is inoperative for any reason, ACC will be de-activated as FA sensor is critical to its operation.
  9. @LukeWarmWorm What was the cost of the misfuelling specialist callout?
  10. I don't drive a diesel, but isn't there a start delay holdoff to allow the glow plugs to reach ignition temperature?
  11. Be very cautious if you intend to use 'One Click' coding - it can result in unwanted, and difficult (or impossible) to reverse changes. You would be strongly advised to download all existing settings before making ANY changes.
  12. Hello Ian, welcome to the forum. It is highly unlikely that the ESC error indication will be the cause of the failure of the engine turning over and is probably coincidental. Has the vehicle been scanned for any DTCs? Are the glow plugs working correctly? Did you have the alternator output tested?
  13. Hello Luke, welcome to the forum. If the tank and fuel lines were flushed, I'd be inclined to leave the filter as it is - unless the diesel was badly contaminated too. Any remaining diesel fuel will be flushed out of the filter almost immediately. Petrol through a diesel fuel pump might have been a little worse though, but I'd still think the possibility of damage to be pretty low. I think I've seen references to the filter being integral with the pump.
  14. ...or would demand unreasonable price to do.
  15. Does this 'whining' noise happen just as the clutch starts to engage - I.e. before the vehicle actually starts to move?
  16. Hello, welcome to the forum. MPI or TDI? Please check and post here your engine code - this can be found listed on the vehicle registration document at the beginning of the engine number (3 or 4 letter characters)
  17. Not sure for the MkiV, MIB3 but on the MIB2 infotainment there is an option (tick-box) to select automatic door locking in the Convenience section.
  18. I just reported another of their posts on a different subject. Seems to be a troll.
  19. Assuming you have the MIB2 infotainment system (or possibly MIB2.5 if yours is a face-lift model) working from memory, if you touch the fault icon showing at the lower left of the screen, you should be able to read a brief description of the supposed cause of the fault - 'Load too high' while stop-start is unavailable is what mine flags if battery SOC is low.
  20. The first thing to do is get the battery tested - preferably with a high-rate load test. There is usually a date stamp on the top of the battery negative terminal (the one furthest from the front) the code format is WW,YY. E.g. 0116 will be first week in 2016.
  21. Has the front subframe misalignment you mention in the 3rg para. of your original post returned? You posted that the subframe 'popped back into place' when the bolts were loosened - a little concerning, I thought.
  22. Over 9 years ownership, I have had at least three occasions where Front Assist automatic braking has activated in full ABS mode while the throttle pedal was pressed - two of those occasions were where the radar picked up on a vehicle turning off left just in front of me, but there was sufficient space remaining to clear the turning vehicle. It would appear to be clear that throttle position does not override Front Assist.
  23. For the number of times the hand brake is operated in a vehicles life, any wear on the pawl and ratchet will be negligible. Far more risk of the pawl not seating properly if button is depressed while applying brake.
  24. OP appears to be referring to Front Assist - not Manoeuvre Braking - AFAIK, Front Assist cannot be disabled.
  25. I will let others comment on the suitability of that device - but, from what I have read regarding accessing the vehicles computers, be very wary of using any 'One Touch' device - they can result in inadvertent (and possibly extremely difficult to reverse) changes.
