Not sure for the MkiV, MIB3 but on the MIB2 infotainment there is an option (tick-box) to select automatic door locking in the Convenience section.

Assuming you have the MIB2 infotainment system (or possibly MIB2.5 if yours is a face-lift model) working from memory, if you touch the fault icon showing at the lower left of the screen, you should be able to read a brief description of the supposed cause of the fault - 'Load too high' while stop-start is unavailable is what mine flags if battery SOC is low.

The first thing to do is get the battery tested - preferably with a high-rate load test. There is usually a date stamp on the top of the battery negative terminal (the one furthest from the front) the code format is WW,YY. E.g. 0116 will be first week in 2016.

Has the front subframe misalignment you mention in the 3rg para. of your original post returned? You posted that the subframe 'popped back into place' when the bolts were loosened - a little concerning, I thought.

Over 9 years ownership, I have had at least three occasions where Front Assist automatic braking has activated in full ABS mode while the throttle pedal was pressed - two of those occasions were where the radar picked up on a vehicle turning off left just in front of me, but there was sufficient space remaining to clear the turning vehicle. It would appear to be clear that throttle position does not override Front Assist.

For the number of times the hand brake is operated in a vehicles life, any wear on the pawl and ratchet will be negligible. Far more risk of the pawl not seating properly if button is depressed while applying brake.

OP appears to be referring to Front Assist - not Manoeuvre Braking - AFAIK, Front Assist cannot be disabled.

I will let others comment on the suitability of that device - but, from what I have read regarding accessing the vehicles computers, be very wary of using any 'One Touch' device - they can result in inadvertent (and possibly extremely difficult to reverse) changes.

I can recall inadvertent hand brake release being an issue quite some time ago - it was found that keeping the release button depressed while pulling up the lever was preventing the pawl from engaging fully at the bottom of the ratchet teeth.

I believe that keeping the release button depressed while pulling the lever up has been found to be the cause of inadvertent hand brake releases in the past - the correct method is to pull the lever up without touching the release button.

Battery adaptation (coding) requires VCDS or OBD11 device to input new battery details into the vehicles BCM. It is recommended to do it to ensure any existing battery defects that may be affecting alternator charging, are cleared - even if replacement battery is identical type and capacity to original. Battery adaptation is a particular requirement if the replacement battery differs in any way from the original. There is a register on this forum of members who may be near you and available to do this adaptation for you. Some retail battery outlets are able to do the adaptation.

OP stated the vehicle has stop/start.

There is no need to maintain power during battery replacement. Infotainment settings will be retained. It is important that the new battery is properly adapted (coded) into the vehicles BCM. Any random faults generated on restoration of power will automatically clear after a short drive.

^^^^...unless you have rain closing enabled, in which case windows will close fully if it starts raining.

There is a pretty steep learning curve with these mobile computers nowadays. I wonder how a modern cars computing power compares with The Apollo Space Programme capsules.

Hello, I'm not sure for the MkIV - but check the convenience options menu in the infotainment. There is probably an option (check/tick box) 'Unlock Drivers door' - or 'unlock all doors' in it.

Cue all DSG owners demanding the 'missing' clutch pedal be retrofitted. 🤣

All warning lights should light up during switch on, start up test - does the DPF warning light up then? Have you ever seen this warning indicator in the time you've owned the vehicle? It is possible that the DPF has been 'gutted' or otherwise tampered with before you purchased it.

I don't drive a diesel, but there should be a yellow symbol lit up in the instrument cluster (apparently looks like an exhaust silencer) when a regen is called for - this warning light might be accompanied by the MIL light if there are issues, there will also be a warning text message if the regen is interrupted before it is completed.

Are you saying that DPF regens are not occurring at all?

How often is it calling (and completing) a DPF regen?

Hello Danny, does this stop/start reactivation occur after you stop and shut-off the ignition? That is normal. Was the new battery adapted (coded) into the vehicles BCM?

Even some Tesla users have been caught out in spectacular fashion while in autonomous mode.
