  1. Do you think you need a battery, or is it just an enquiry? It can be coded with OBDeleven, which I have. I’m 20 miles south of Sheffield.
  2. My nearside washer doesn’t always fully return, so I was wondering how easy it was to get at. I might just keep pushing it back in when it sticks 😀
  3. Apparently, French MPs voted to get rid of low emission zones. About half way down the page… https://www.frenchentree.com/news/france-passes-its-2026-budget-news-digest/?mc_cid=269f5519e5&mc_eid=88bcbdf9dd
  4. I don’t know about heat reflecting windscreens, but it’s certainly an interesting question. I have a heated screen and it hadn’t occurred to me that it might affect my dashcam’s GPS signal. I must check. A few years back, I had a Ford Mondeo which had a heated screen and it used to play havoc with my satnav. I ended up fitting an external aerial.
  5. Can’t help, I’m afraid, but I was thinking that I might add an auxiliary cable to mine and hide it inside the wheelarch. Behind the liner, maybe. I have done that on another car.
  6. I was looking on Autotrader last week to see what prices were doing. I was surprised to see that there weren't very many cars available in the 50-60k mile range. This time last year, there were loads. I can only assume that all the stories of people hanging on to their cars are correct.
  7. I had a similar dilemma. My last company car had CarPlay and I used it with Waze as my preferred satnav app. When I bought my Octavia, I was using my phone in a cradle, but with it connected to the car with BT I didn’t get any audio for the nav instructions. The only way I could get audio was to go into my phone settings every time I started the car and disconnect BT, but then I couldn’t use my phone to make or receive calls easily. I thought about upgrading to MIB2 but I couldn’t quite justify the expense, as I only wanted it for navigation. I decided to try a portable screen for CarPlay/ Android auto and found one on Aliexpress for £25. It works well for my nav app and the phone still work through the MIB1, so all is good. I did a quick write up in the ‘audio’ section.
  8. Worked for me 🤷🏻‍♂️
  9. When I bought my car, one of the keys wouldn't open the door. I changed the battery, but it still didn't work. I then read the manual (see above) and there is a procedure to re-sync the key to the car. There is a key slot in the door, but it is hidden under a cover. You need to put the key in it to re-sync IIRC.
  10. I will have to look into this. I have MIB1 and also OBDeleven Pro, so hopefully will be able to do it.
  11. Just google the part no - 5Q0713128A You need to make sure that it is the right one for your car, though. There was a useful Youtube video on how to fit it !! SOLVED !! Audi VW Gear Selector Fault B1162 29 Park Position Lock Switch
  12. I can't really help with your proposed upgrade, but this is what I have done. Apple Car Play - Android Auto - Portable Screen - Audio, Electronics and Security - BRISKODA
  13. I had Apple Carplay on my last company car and it is something that I really miss on my Octavia Mk3 (2015) which has a MIB1 infotainment system. I was a bit reluctant to replace my screen with an aftermarket unit, as I would imagine I would lose a lot of functionality with various settings, etc. I considered upgrading to MIB2 or 2.5, but with the amount of work involved, not to mention the cost, which could be approaching £900, I couldn't really justify it. What I was looking for was a way to use my 'phone for navigation (Waze) and not much else, as I have music on an SD card and also listen to the radio. I have been using my 'phone on a dash mount, but in order to hear the navigation instructions, I had to disable bluetooth connection to the car everytime I start it, which means I can't use the 'phone handsfree. Also, if I forget to disable it, it's a pain. Anyway, to cut a long story short, I've been looking at portable screens on ebay, then on Aliexpress. I found one with a 7" screen, so it's not too big, which looked like it would do what I want...and for the princely sum of $33 (£25). It turned up this week, so I tried it yesterday and I'm very pleased so far. It can be connected to the car, either by bluetooth, AUX, or via FM tuning. I haven't connected it to the car, but am using it as a standalone with my 'phone connected to it via bluetooth. The good news is that my 'phone also connects to the car at the same time, so I can use the 'phone handsfree. There are probably a lot of features that I won't be using, and you can also add a reversing camera if desired. Here's a link to the Aliexpress page... https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005008534094566.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.23.531a1802MSFnur It looks like the price has actually dropped since I ordered it last week.
  14. Glad to hear you got it sorted. Nightmare scenario, like a failed door lock in the closed position.
  15. My sister has a Renault Captur 1.5 dci which was zero rated, but now costs £20. I think it changed in April.
  16. You would only really do it as a precaution if you had the gearbox off for some other reason.
  17. Sorry, only just seen this. PM sent.
  18. I don’t have VCDS. I do have OBDeleven, which I believe can prime the fuel system after changing the fuel filter, for example.
  19. Out of interest, should we avoid this VAG specialist? I’m also in Derbys.
  20. Aren’t Carparts4less the same company as ECP? I bought all four discs plus pads (Brembo) from Autodoc for about £180, for my 2.0 tdi.
  21. This seems to be a common problem with tyres, these days. Something to do with what manufacturers have been told they aren’t allowed to put into the mix anymore. On a Rover forum that I frequent, there are a lot of complaints about Avon tyres. I’m wondering what brand to get when the time comes.
  22. Good find. Thanks for the heads up.
  23. I’d be interested to know how you get on, as I’m trying to decide to fit a bypass relay or dedicated wiring…or get someone else to install it. I’m not as flexible as I used to be ☹️
  24. My 2015 does. If you’re on a slope, you take your foot off the brake and it will hold for something like four seconds while you put your foot on the loud pedal.
  25. I bought a similar kit from eBay and it worked a treat. Rather than pushing fluid back into the master cylinder, I prefer to crack open the bleed nipple as I’m winding the piston back.
