  1. I’ve read a few times about the latest Superb, where the driving mode reverts to ‘normal’ each time the car is restarted. Indeed my own car (registered April ‘19) does it. However, I had a 19-plate Sportline on loan from the dealer yesterday, and that was in ‘eco’ mode, but it stayed like that even when restarted. Makes me think there must be a way of stopping it from changing itself.
  2. Try National Tyres site. Put the reg number in and it should tell you whether it’s business or technology. https://www.national.co.uk/tyres
  3. Ha, I did wonder. So far, since moving north, I’ve used Rainworth once, but wasn’t that impressed. I recently went to Chesterfield Skoda for an infotainment warranty issue on my latest Superb. They said they need Skoda technical to advise them how to fix it. I’m still waiting for something to happen nearly four weeks later, so the jury is still out.
  4. I have my mirrors set to autofold when locking. I just check to see that the mirrors are folded to know that it’s locked. I sometimes get a shock when I notice that the mirrors aren’t folded, particularly if it’s first thing in the morning!
  5. I don’t think mine does anything if the switch is set to “head light” position, as I often leave the switch there. No beeping or messages.
  6. Not as much as I would like, due to that sloping rear window. And don't get me started on that stupidly designed rear seat, which doesn’t fold flat and leaves a huge step in the load bed.
  7. Mine was in the dealers on Friday for another issue. I mentioned that I was having an issue with the car bogging down when moving for D to R and trying to reverse onto my drive and asked about a s/w update for the 1.5 ‘issue’ and was told that there was no update for my car.
  8. I had an issue with my last Superb where the right hand button on the wheel - to select menu - would sometimes not respond. I forgot about it by by the time it was due for a service. My new Superb has ‘infotainment’ issues - satnav not starting and phone unavailable. Took it in on Friday and they said there is an issue, but they need Skoda Technical to tell them what to do and they will need it for two days!
  9. Has the car been in an accident? Have you only just bought it? If so, did you buy it from a dealer?
  10. I have to admit, mine can be a bit sluggish. I’m beginning to wish I’d had another diesel.
  11. This is the new switch module with two switches to disable the rear windows and operate the child locks.
  12. Spring assisters. Quite popular when towing, I have used them on several cars. I did get a set for my last Passat, which carried 300Kg in the boot, but never got around to fitting them. https://www.demon-tweeks.com/grayston-spring-assister-277238/?sku=GRYGE14&istCompanyId=a2904180-3a7d-4e56-b876-cf81c9512180&istFeedId=6fbc4b04-fd28-4ce1-8513-835c8f118690&istItemId=wptppxmlr&istBid=t&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIkbqS5NKO4gIVCYbVCh0mVgLeEAQYASABEgLFOvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
  13. Thanks for that, I wondered how it worked. I’ve only had this superb a couple of weeks and the last one didn’t have it. Compared with the previous Superb, what I don’t like is the fact that the touch screen has been extended to replace the buttons down each side of the screen. With physical buttons, you can at least rest your hand on them before making the selection. With ‘touch’ buttons, you have to be very accurate, which is not that easy with the car moving up and down over bumps in the road. It also means having to take your eyes off the road for longer.
  14. That is correct. My MY19 now has two separate switches to disable the rear windows and also operate child locks, although the wording in the handbook isn’t particularly clear (surprise, surprise )
  15. Can you also post the reg. no....just in case I ever come across it on a forecourt
  16. At £450, I could probably justify the cost over a 2-year lease period.
  17. I fitted CC myself to a B5 Passat and had VW dealer retrofit to both B6 and B7 Passats. Both of those had the third stalk, as opposed to the switches being on the indicator stalk. I can’t see it being that different for the Superb 3 and I would imagine there would be a kit available. It’s just a case of finding someone who is capable of doing it. Who did you speak to at the dealers? Was it the parts man?
  18. Surely if they have failed to fix a problem while the car was within warranty, they can’t just wash their hands of it when the warranty expires?
  19. My 2.0 tdi used nearly 3 litres of oil in the last 20k miles. It turned 54k yesterday, but it’s also gone now, as my new 1.5tsi has arrived. I’ve had a couple of tdi Passats, but they never used that much oil, even at 100k + miles.
  20. I’ve found that even on the shortest setting, it is too slow to respond when the car in front accelerates, someone then pulls into the gap that has been created and ACC brakes, causing another gap to develop.
  21. This is the main reason that I hate ACC. With ‘normal’ cruise, it is easy to time your overtake, but ACC brakes too early. I have mine set for the shortest distance, which is still too far on the motorway, but let’s you drive too close at lower speeds.
  22. I had a look at it today and I haven’t got as many saved as I thought. Having said that, it doesn’t show me the details - postcodes or coordinates. It looks like I’ll have to input them manually.
  23. I’m still amazed that paddles aren’t standard fitment. I had a Passat S (base model) a few years ago. Paddles came as standard, although I had to persuade the dealer to retrofit cruise control as part of the deal.
  24. Easy, maybe. The chrome on my gearknob is also starting to peel. I would have mentioned it at the next service, but I’m getting my new car on Friday. I had a similar problem with one of my Passats. The dealer spotted it at a service and ordered me a replacement. It seems like a bit of a common problem.
