  1. It’s fab. I use CarPlay and I have the MIB2.5 Columbus for reference and the Skoda UI is actually very good and user friendly but I default to CarPlay. AA and CarPlay give full voice control with assistant/Siri, choice of maps, music streaming, full call and text support etc etc. Couldn’t recommend it enough. The only minor downside for those that care is the info for nav or media isn’t shown on the Maxidot if AA or CarPlay is in use.
  2. Think it was me that replied, like I said you need to match everything on the new unit up with the old unit. Sound issue like likely because the donor car had CANTON and yours doesn’t or the reverse so check Byte 11 and in the long coding helper select either sound system internal (or sound system internal individual if you want Skoda Surround and Virtual Sub for a boost) if you don’t have CANTON or sound system external if you do. The other error seems related to the SOS system, likely because the donor car had it and yours doesn’t and for this you will need to copy the full coding string down, changing everything to match and make a full adaptation map and copying over the relevant changes. There isn’t a standard guide for this as each car is different, you are coding to match. Check every menu and option for compatibility and you’ll sort it.
  3. You can’t on the Octy as unlike the Golf, the mount points aren’t there. I mean technically you can, but you’d have to be millimetre accurate with the pickup points and then there is the strength debate of a mount point that’s been cut off one car and welded to another. In terms of comfort there isn’t much in it, the IRS is better but the Octy 3 will never be considered a comfy car.
  4. Not all ABS pumps will take that change unfortunately. My vRS has a basic MK100 pump which will not accept the change for ACC even without follow to stop. Some people will get away without changing the pump, if you have self parking (PLA 3.0) for example you will likely have the right pump anyway but on the whole, it’s a gamble. Changing the pump on a petrol car is easy, on a diesel car it involves removing an engine mount.
  5. There is a lot of confusion here... A 2016 car can’t be a 1.5, they didn’t come out until the 2018 model. Front assist (where you have the radar on the front for emergency assistance) is a separate option to ACC, though all cars with ACC have it, many cars only have front assist. Front Assist is standard on the facelift SE-L and I believe the MY17 pre facelift SE-L but ACC never has been. The only specs that had ACC as standard were the FL SE-Tech and L&K. ACC isn’t a plug and play job and even though you have front assist you will still likely need a new ABS pump, rear ABS sensors, a new radar, stalks and ODIS-E activation as the MRR radar’s have FeC’s to deal with. If the car has 2 stalks it has regular cruise. If the car has 3 stalks it has ACC. Unfortunately the odds that your car does have ACC but has the wrong stalks is vanishingly slim. ACC settings are adjustable in the driver assistance menu in the radio and Maxidot. Far more likely the dealer who sold it to you thought that presence of the radar meant it did. You can check with a Skoda dealer who can check the cars PR codes and that’ll show if it has the PR for ACC. As for making an ACC equipped car behave like it has normal CC, (for the avoidance of doubt in case this option is considered) it cannot be done without swapping the radar back to an FA only radar, extensive recoding and even then you will likely be faced with an array of fault lights. ACC coding is present in at least 6 modules on the car.
  6. Not sure the MY21 Superb will come with SFD, seems it’s only affecting MQB Evo cars but it may well affect the Superb too. The 2Q0 A5 camera needs ODIS to enable the FeC for TSR so it’s not a VCDS job but lane assist is for MY20 and would be for 21 if SFD isn’t implemented. SFD will be bypassed at some point in any case I’m sure.
  7. I have but it’s only possible with the Columbus. Otherwise you can add a sub via line out from the rear speaker loom.
  8. Cluster is too old. Whether you can flash newer firmware I don’t know.
  9. Not yet. Not high enough on my list yet unfortunately. Can’t hurt to try though if there is a faulty 5Q0 module to replace.
  10. One is like the car has but a bigger display with soft keys and the other is all glass without physical buttons. 3V0919606B for the PFL screen 3V0919605E for the FL screen 9.2 inch screen needs a new MIB.
  11. It’s the 6.5 inch screen there. You can plug and play the PFL or FL 8 inch screens.
  12. I had to code it as the supplier have sent it with RVC coding done (don’t have a camera yet) and they coded it for 4 speakers when this car has only front speakers so I had to sort that. The trim is new to match. These are available on AliExpress for about £10. No battery drain issues on this car as it’s a 2012.
  13. RCD360 does AA but you will need a CAN Gateway upgrade or some wiring to stop the battery drain. These are cheap at under £170. Yeti MIB is about £5-600 but would give you the option of DAB and built in nav. You will need a Gateway or wiring for this option too and indeed any newer Skoda radio. This is an RCD360 in my Dad’s Mk2 FL
  14. You won’t have errors on the dash other than when you went to the seat menu if you chose a non electric seat but the car would need some coding if you wanted no errors in the modules. From my experience, the standard seats without the electric lumbar are massively inferior in terms of comfort. The SportLine seats aren’t as comfy as the SE-L/L&K seats in my experience and I suggest you try to get a really good test of a SportLine car before making changes to the L&K as the seats aren’t cheap.
  15. Thanks! I’m sure he’d love them as he complains about the lights (his other car is a new Ibiza FR with the full LED lights so they are orders of magnitude better) but the car doesn’t really warrant the time or expense unfortunately.
  16. Update after a month Completed jobs: Leather steering wheel Leather Mk3 style gear knob Cruise control Trip computer Leather handbrake Jumbo box with armrest RCD360 and trim 2x charge USB sockets Rubber mats Auto lights Remote locking Rear Springs Brake pedal switch Hub caps painted This car has done nothing but impress all of us who have driven it. It’s fuel consumption has been excellent as well. On to the next project. And a quick interior before and after And here it is with my car when I came around to sort some things.
  17. Yeah the stripes are lit up on them on sidelight. Sure that can be made on with DRL.
  18. It is. If you have SE-L, SportLine or L&K you get the full LED lights with DLA from the A5 camera. Which means that all these cars can have Lane Assist coded in if it’s not optioned
  19. I would check that with a variety of dealers. The brochure for the Octavia vRS for a time stated that they came with cornering front fog lights and they didn’t. Skoda brochures and configurators are littered with mistakes. Every Superb estate I’ve fitted a camera to has the automatic retract parcel shelf and none of those owners paid for it so it may have a heated wheel, it may not. Check on stock cars where you can.
  20. Heated wheel isn’t standard, or at least it hasn’t been for any previous model years. Only L&K had the heated wheel for MY20.
  21. Engine: 2.0 TDi 184 Type: vRS Estate Mileage: 131,000 miles Cambelt changed 1 time DSG DQ250 Gearbox oil changed 3 times Any other major work done? No mechanical replacements, only fluids, consumables and a DPF pressure sensor.
  22. Mine was 5Q0, turns out I can’t read lol 😆
  23. TSR will give you a warning bong as you don’t have a navigation system every time you get in the car and it’ll only use the camera to pick up signs. If no new signs are picked up, the sign will go off the dash after a certain amount of time. The coding for a 3Q0 A5 camera is usually Byte 16 Bit 4 and this is what I expect you will have. Otherwise coding for 5F and 17 is similar.
  24. Can you still order the 150? Some cars are not available from stock now. If you are only looking to pick 1 of the options you have listed, the heated windscreen would be the one to have. The towbar doesn’t need towbar prep but I would wholeheartedly recommend the genuine Skoda ORIS made towbar. It releases via a lever on the rear sill plate and swivels into place, much nicer than getting on your knees to install the tow ball. Also any towbar installation for a Superb requires ODIS to re calibrate the ACC so in the light of this I would go genuine as it may not be much more expensive depending on quotes to fit an aftermarket bar. The spare wheel/vario floor thing is just a con by Skoda to make you buy both. I would buy a wheel and tool set on eBay if you don’t want the vario floor, will fit right in. The parcel shelf is a retractable blind, the £55 extra is to have the shelf automatically retract half way when the boot is opened. If you want a rear camera later, aftermarket and genuine cameras can be fitted. I do them regularly.
  25. Check the coding in 08 HVAC, Byte 12 is the temp control between normal and cooler countries but that should only affect the LO setting. Personally I run mine at 18 degrees most of the time as I like a cooler car.
