Goodbye to Yeti
That's a really good point. I liked my Octavias as well - mainly because they felt like Audis for people with more sense than money (me included!). I think it's the square, compact shape and everything that means on the road. Yetis are trustworthy, honest and by your side when the going gets tough 😉

Goodbye to Yeti
I think it you were thinking of changing it for a brand new car or something £20k more expensive, I could understand the rationale... but the Yeti already has a very good reliability record that you have experienced, and you know it's many good points. We had a really good look around when we decided to sell my other half's 2015 Yeti last year (totally reliable but 100k on clock and the usual tiny bits of door edge rust). In the end we bought another Yeti, registered 30/12/17 and originally delivered in Jan 2018. As an all-rounder they are still hard to beat, and I drive a 'posh Audi' a lot of the time. They do everything and the 4x4 ones get you through everything !

Unresponsive/'haywire' infotainment touchscreen
It's all very therapeutic to have a go.

How long is your car battery lasting?
I seriously looked at that but don't own a Veyron, so went for the Carista instead ! 😉

How long is your car battery lasting?
Ordered, thanks. If the trial is finished, I'll just pay for a month on the few occasions I'll use it

Headlight unit replacement
Front bumper and wing liners have to be removed I think for a facelift car 2013/14 to end 2017... You might have to do some searching.

How long is your car battery lasting?
Does anyone know if those OBD2 handheld fault scanners that say they have Battery Registration on them, actually work ? They seem to be about £50 upwards to include that function?

Skoda want my Kodiaq for 3 months to fix it !!
A crying shame that Skoda has gone this way. I feel your pain re the braking - a Golf of mine did it randomly when I worked for VWG - what happens if a motorbike is following you... I suspect that Skoda were under massive VWG commercial pressure to launch on time and testing was shortcut. Product Margin and return to the business is king - purchasing drive it relentlessly. We had a system a few years back where testing couldn't be completed because the software modules were incomplete / full of bugs, but it still went live and was put down to 'teething troubles'. Big money and big turnover plus damage (spend) limitation to deal with results.

Software failure not so Superb
If it was my money I would certainly delay it until you are sure the software is fixed (by checking here). Not sure of your circumstances such as signing up for finance or putting a bit deposit down already, but if you can do cleanly, I would back out and advise the dealer that once you are confident in the product you may well speak to them first to 're order.

Yeti 2015 1.2 tsi
Hello John, gotta new motor.

Yeti 2015 1.2 tsi
I still wouldn't bother. If the engine is running that hot on a Yeti, you have a bigger problem!

Getting an old lady now
My dad wanted a Renault Fuego but the 2 doors killed that idea, so he was keen on a 20TL/TS until he found out about rust issues. He had been bitten by a couple of fantastic but early-rusting Alfas. I think all the French makers were innovative in the 60s and 70s and prepared to try things rather than copy.

1 is yes and, not sure 2 is I didn't bother putting it back on and it's fine. It's hardly ever -10 in England these days !

Getting an old lady now
I used to drive my sister's 1977 Polo L with 895cc, 40hp and a manual choke. Solidly built and I once got it up to an indicated 94mph downhill with the speedo needle vibrating wildly ! It was so sluggish but at least it prevented me overtaking anything.

UK Special Build Club' Yetis
I still find it mad that legislators allow a) A big central touchscreen out of your eyeline for the road; b) More and more functions to be put in menus on them. I think Audi got the ergonomics right with the MMI wheel then Virtual Cockpit combined with steering wheel controls. Even they have given in now to automotive trends, but they are at least trying to blend the screen into a 'dashboard' rather than lobbing a tablet screen at it and seeing where it sticks. Re white Teslas, there's an 'end of the world' type drama on Netflix with a scene where hundreds of white self driving Teslas are piling into each other on a US highway. Maybe it's a metaphor for a disposable society...?!

Getting an old lady now
My old school music teacher had a white 1.3 coupe which shook, rattled and rolled. No pun intended, much. Was the 1.8 beefed up over the 1.3 ?

Can you imagine how a Marina would cope with travel tracks - bits would have been dropping off !

Yeti 4x4 without spare wheel.
I don't blame you. In a previous life 20 years ago I managed upset British Mercedes-Benz customers breaking down abroad. France was the worst ! Credit card to get off the Autoroute, customers abandoned, car towed to Merc dealer who might have a look in a couple of weeks...

Yeti 4x4 without spare wheel.
As above, I can't speak for the pre-facelift cars, but our 2015 4x4 had no wheel well to put anything in. Our 2017 4x4 has basically a raised floor to accommodate the fitted factory spare. Our dog knows we've changed their Yeti.

Yeti 4x4 without spare wheel.
No, and no wheel-well so you have to store at the side. My Audi 4x4 came without a spare but has a lined wheel-well so I bought all the bits myself. Just had to cut a slot through the lining that was above the thread hole that was precut into the boot floor. Also tried a couple of plastic retainers for the spare wheel centre before it held ok.

Front End Knocking
The vast majority of dealers are part of groups. All are in it to make money. Many of the 'specialist' (e.g. 'VAG specialist'), independent garages were set up by ex-dealer mechanics / technicians/ mastertechs who do it cheaper and have the retained experience that people want. I have an old Subaru which I take to a garage that's a 3 hour round trip away because they know the older cars inside out still. They are the same price as a 'big city dealer' but know what they are doing.
