  1. The Isofix anchoring points have to be pushed downward to release the shroud from the anchor. You can lift the cover to see how it's supposed to come out. The front part releases with a firm pull upwards. The clips holding the front in place may break or not, so either get some spares or hope for the best. Mine stayed intact. When both the front and back are loose, push the whole seat a centimeter backwards and lift upwards, to release it from it's notches. The cable for the weight detectors is on the left side, be sure to disconnect that one before lifting the seat any further, same applies for seat heating if present.
  2. Although the Octavia has a decent noise profile from factory, I decided it would be worthwhile attempting to soundproof it a little more. The usual culprits, the boot and rear seat, were first in line. The large metal surfaces in the boot had only some small pieces of deadening material on them from the factory, sounded like a drum when tapped, especially the hump above the gas tanks. Treated them with a layer of CTK Premium 2.2mm butyl mats. I also identified a potential source of rattle under the rear seat, marked in the second picture. The part of the trim extending below the seat has a plastic rivet going through it, but it's not tightly secured against the metal. Tapping lightly on the edge caused it to rattle, so I snuck the edge of the butyl mat below those parts, tightening them up. Adding insulation in these locations has already improved a lot of the noise originating from the back, particularly by eliminating a lot of the "thump" you hear when driving over small bumps or holes in the road surface. Next step will probably be the doors and boot lid.
  3. Of course you can do it. It's just small updates to the Infotainment apps, the large system updates have not arrived OTA yet.
  4. Simple explanation: petrol cars don't need AdBlue 😂
  5. With Travel assist activated, it does show you cars in other lanes and responds to them switching lanes accordingly. With only ACC activated it does not.
  6. Settings --> Language, scroll all the way to the bottom.
  7. OBDeleven has an app for that
  8. You can't turn it off permanently, but you can enable the memory function so you don't have to disable it every start. Driver Assistance (Module A5) > Long coding > Configuration for lane departure warning KI15 > Change to "Last setting"
  9. Same thing with the Golf Mk8, Seat Leon Mk4 and Cupra Formentor. They all share the same infotainment hardware and software. Only difference is the UI.
  10. I'm not questioning your rally knowledge, I'm just telling you that it's a bit far fetched blaming a car for not having a granularity down to 1/10 of a mile just because you can't use it for something it's clearly not designed to do. There are better tools for that, such as the Brantz you mentioned.
  11. You mentioned measuring the distance between junctions. Measuring those accurately is not something you do using a trip meter. If you need the miles between meetings, the Since start counter can be used unless you stop for more than two hours.
  12. If you use the trip meter for these so called 'accurate' distances, I'd suggest you change your method of approaching the problem 😅
  13. It would seem they all get delivered with 1889 from the factory nowadays. Perhaps 1896 is only for pre-1889 cars with problems. 1889 seems to be mostly free of problems, not many complaints on that version.
  14. Yes, they are correct. Your navigation database will update in the background when you use the navigator on a longer trip, assuming you have an active Infotainment Online license. What do you mean by "other things come onto screen"? Here's my current software. Car works like a charm with these:
  15. Oh, sorry if I came out wrong. I do use "Larry" myself, didn't like the female voice at all 😂 I was just giving advice.
  16. You can change it back to Laura in language settings. Scroll to the very bottom.
  17. Didn't say it literally, but he/she told someone to stay away from buying a car because of earlier ones having issues. That to me sounds like he/she is saying the car will have issues and to stay away from it for that reason, when the car could very well be trouble free. I'm not denying the issues just because I have not experienced them, I'm just surprised when people tell strangers to explicitly stay away from something like that, especially since the person who said it is driving an early MY20 car, the ones with the most issues. In newer production cars, the issues have been mostly ruled out already.
  18. Just because some cars have some issues doesn't mean every car has them. My Mk4 has been trouble free.
  19. Fortunately if you don't like it or it doesn't work properly in your environment, the solution is really simple, don't use it 😄
  20. Sorry, I was a bit unclear 😃 I thought you were on older software. With the newest software, the infotainment should already be fired up when you get seated. I've never had to wait for it.
  21. Or you just get it updated and enjoy the system being available as you sit down onto the driver's seat...
  22. To display the distance travelled on the dash, push the right steering wheel button, scroll to settings and enable the function. Or, just scroll to the display if it's already enabled.
  23. You are confusing lane assist with travel assist. Assisted lane change is an extension to travel assist, which keeps you smack in the middle of the lane, no tugging.
  24. That's similar to what is in my car, produced in January. I've got the following: Device part number: 5E3035816J Hardware: H58 Software: 1889 Display unit/control panel hardware: H47 Display unit/control panel software: 2092 Navigation database: 22.6 Media codec: 3.1.4 Radio database: 1.30.30 Your navigation database should update automatically if you have a Skoda Connect subscription active. Otherwise I don't see anything wrong with those software versions. Software 1889 is mostly the same as 1896, I believe. 1889 is the factory version while 1896 is applied to older versions.
  25. My CNG powered Octavia. Black is a pain to keep clean, but oh does it look good after the regular wash 😀
