  1. @Ed-hunter If 1 reversing light or 1 Rear Fog light is a safety issue then millions of vehicles in the UK are unsafe. Who told you it was a Safety Issue? Time they told the DfT / DVSA in the UK and those that Type Approve passenger cars.
  2. @Graham Butcher The i-Pace was a long way from home. The golfer went back to Preston and took the keys with him. The Frontera driver had only just had a brand new car delivered. I doubt he did anything wrong but sadly seems to know nothing what so ever about EV,s other than they get a car and a card and free charging. Half the fast chargers there now with local Carers MG,s left charging and collected at the start of the shift, the other half are out of order and have been for weeks,
  3. Sorry OT, but @BabyDog What was the reason for rejecting the Kodiaq, was it fuel consumption and did Skoda UK actually accept that?
  4. @lol-lol The charger has nothing to do with it. The charger was powered down. The new car with 57 miles on it held in the charger head. In Girvan when i posted about the Jaguar left 4 days because nobody could release the cable, the cable was disconnected from the charger and bagged up. Re Jaguar I-Pace emergency release. Normally with the Unlocking you Double press the Key fob if the car locked it's self and actually in some cases it is not a double press needed to release the cable but 3 unlock presses. Then the other thing is is the cable is not releasing and you can get in the car and open the bonnet, beside the hinge there is a red nylon ring pull. Do not pull towards you, pull up. That releases the cable from the charge port.
  5. @Graham Butcher this is real world with BEV,s far too often. RAC actually clueless and unavailable, Angus Council have SWARCO for Charger Maintenance but they are not assisting releasing the charger cable. Vauxhall Service Centre Dundee that mis-dealt with my car clueless or just unhelpful. I will see tomorrow if the car has gone. Luckily he had a Yeti.
  6. Re Stellantis / Vauxhall Frontera. I met the driver of this NHS Fleet car last night then again this lunch time. The car has done 57 miles since delivered. He took his wife to show her how to charge it. That was Thursday evening. I asked why he was on the AC tethered, & that was because that looked the right charger head. Anyway charger stuck in Thursday and nobody could help. Not Charge Place Scotland who restarted the charger, not the RAC that did not Recognise the Car. Not the NHS Fleet people who were not on call. Anyway they were still waiting for Assistance from RAC at 3am and no local taxis were answering or coming out. A boy racer that came around took them home 15 miles for 20. Nobody came out or got back to him yesterday until evening which was when i met him, they never arrived. Appointment today for a Tech to come between 7am-12 pm. We were there at 1.00pm. No show. I could not help, i did not want to disconnect the battery under the bonnet. So i left him in the torrential rain waiting. Storm Dave just hit. We tried starting and stopping charger, using emergency stop etc. Locking unlocking etc. Ziltz success.
  7. Showroom cars might be sold, but that is not what a Dealership wants, they want it for tax reasons as a Management car / Demonstrator, but do not let too many grubby hands on it with general public test driving it. Just do not tell the HMRC that. Then at 3,000 miles or after 3 months there are these Ex Demonstrators for sale. Some might actually advertise for sale and then not for immediate delivery. Some used to hold back First Registering to you. Some cars from some manufacturers were Showroom then demonstrators and could not be sold by the Dealership within 6 months.
  8. ^^^ As i had with my Shogun no big expense. Only lit up only when rainy for ages then before i did anything as it was summer time the warning lights started staying on & message said ABS disabled.
  9. Stage 2 really needs you to start upgrading hardware and using Super Unleaded.
  10. Why i said OT. Nothing here in this thread about fires, maybe because you never posted recently on fires, just JLR & @lol-lol on Stellantis, so i posted about Stellantis ICE vehicles. Recalls left right and centre across makers including VW group and BEV,s.
  11. Are you using OEM Plugs and Ignition coils, and what octane petrol? What have you used as an air filter? What gearbox has the car? Maybe look in the Fabia Mk3 section & the tuning thread. Has the person that does your remap not have advice to give you?
  12. OT in EV section, but Stellantis have a lots of ICE vehicles to have recalled because of the risk of catching fire..
  13. @Colin1051 My suggestion was try without Eco & Coasting. To see what if any difference. Coasting and ECO can be fuel saving, but then a TDI and DSG and a TSI & DSG are like Apples and pears. The OP,s car should be able to easily achieve average high 30,s into the 40,s mpg in ambient temps like 20*oC and on trips of 12-25 miles with no issues getting up to temperature.
  14. Sounds relevant. Hopefully others with similar cars can comment. Your fuel consumption sound ridiculous.
  15. Lots of big fat elephants of cars about and the can be any drive train or fuel. Too big for parking spaces in many many cases. Taxing them by Gross Weight is what is needed, especially as Really BIG EV,s can be under £50,000, now even under £40,000.
  16. What is the ambient temperature these last 2,000 km? How far do you drive approx each time? Maybe get it out of ECO. Maybe even out of Coasting while in city / town driving. Do you have Stop / Start functioning? What petrol is it, 95 ron E5? I had to look at your profile to see you are in Australia. That is worth a mention when posting as you might of been an a Scandinavian country and it has been winter. PS Not sure a diesel version would be doing better in City driving.
  17. Evolution13 replied to kevin48's topic in Skoda Karoq
Does your car have a Dip Stick? Check the oil at Operating Temperature after stopping for a few minutes on the Flat. Where is the oil above the Cross Hatch in Area A, is it right up able? What engine is it, a TDI that might be putting diesel into the oil, or a TSI. If too high on the dipstick then you want to remove some oil.
  18. I read a planning application for a £41 million investment in South Ayrshire is to benefit the local community. Well this one might to £10 million to community projects or whatever. There needs to be much more Benefit to local communities. Maybe 10% of profits to the area within 50 miles of wind farms.
  19. @Colin1051 Absolutely, prepare for winter. That would be Simply Clever for Dealership services around winter time..,.. So DIY Clean and polish metal and prep rubber. What temp can be around 2 degrees c Ground or Air temp and below. When ice can form. Odd so many here over the years have the issue. Skoda have dealt with the New Peaq EV. The door handles have a hammer effect and can break them free when frozen. So maybe they have sorted the charger flap with a heating element...
  20. Eon Next just asked if i want to sign up for their Power Up / Power Down Scheme. So they are introducing what others already do. I use so little electric during the day and between 16.00 - 20.00 that i can not power down. Plugging in using the 3 pin lead for 2 hours is not going to be Powering up much. 5-6 kWh max..
  21. A few around the UK with £3,000 or so knocked off. Nearly Toyota GR Yaris or Hyundai N120 Never raced or rallied much more of Hot rather than warm hatch.
  22. According to Skoda / VW UK you no longer are on a 5 year / 50,000 mile recommendation for the cam belt. That was always a nonsense and changed in 2023. So up to you if you want the Belt and Tensioner kit done. I would do it, and with a independent with the equipment and knowledge. Cheaper than a 1.5 TSI ACT, but how much depends on who / where you go to. Service it, cambelt, plugs, airfilter, brakes etc then maybe get a Remap Done...
  23. Yes they have to rise. But that will be at the end of the Fixed Tariffs if you have that. Today to fix Smart Drive Next is 8 pence offpeak & Drive Next 9 pence for 12 months. PS, we as in the UK does still use Gas Plants to generate electricity, we as in Scotland have one remaining gas plant and 1 nuclear plant. Both will close at some point. The Peterhead plant is one of the most polluting facilities in Scotland. No.1 one most polluting now i think. Funny not funny really, that is where they want Carbon Capture to be and take Carbon from elsewhere. Yet right now they are not collecting there and piping out under the sea into where they took oil and gas from.
