  1. This member has noticed an increase in fuel consumption. Has your weather / temperatures been much lower than normal, and the same or lower than last winter?
  2. @DSL Some of the early ones including DSG,s were included in the Full DVLA Safety Critical RECALL in the UK & got the software update. Some still had issues after. So was it part of those and was the Recall Action carried out?
  3. These supposed Skoda / VW Technical Guys / Gals are just wonderful. They should maybe call a AUDI Dealership where they have better technicians.
  4. They were surely a Technician and work full time on Skoda / Seat or whatever. Trained and experienced. Had they not a clue and prepared to investigate further?
  5. If wiping glass is needed then that is what you have to do. Along with taking wet stuff out of cars. Mats after trips maybe, and AC on as much as it can be used. Not for cooling for drying the air. & put a couple of £1 damp traps in the cabin and the boot.
  6. Skoda are in Europe after all, can a Skoda Dealer in Australia not get the part in? Nothing in China?
  7. Dacia / Renault know what VORSPRUNG DURCH TECHNIK ment and VW / SKODA just forgot. If VW Group did more on reliability and practicality they might do better. Also deal with snagging issues and design and engineering faults. Sort out rubbish software as well.
  8. Re Oil Services, Fixed or Variable. You pays your money, you chose when you get work done & as far as the DQ381 if you want sooner than 80,000 miles and even at 40,000 you are the customer just get done when you want. Remember and insist on the Filter changed, and not the crazy At the 2nd Service rubbish.
  9. Small point. As long as any drop from MAX then stays as is and is not at MIN then good. There are no FILL TO THIS LINE. markings. Many vehicles set the level. Many get serviced and filled to MAX, you get home and the coolant level is back where it was before the top up.
  10. It is high temperature to clean a GPF, much higher than a DPF. Thd first gpf,s were in thd mk3 Fabia 1.0 tsi and Octavia and some repirted issues soon aftef getting them. Then come covid time short runs. High rpm lasting tookng. Getting a PHEV running on petrol and the temp up regularly is going to be important.
  11. I use S often. Other than for hills, spirited driving. Briliant in town, on snow and ice. Drop back to S, no accelerator, or touching the brake. You drop a gear and slow down. Even stop. I have only 1 foot and have driven only 2 pedal cars for 50 years. All sorts. I like DQ200 with a manual parking brake or an e-brake.
  12. It is in the Owners Manuals for Skoda / VW etc. It will be a growing issue. Plenty threads on GPF,s here. And ask Skoda Dealers about price of GPF replacements. Shrugs shoulders. PHEV,s might really become an issue.
  13. Many a car have front wheels and rear wheels of very different sizes / widths and no spare, even Skoda ev,s. As to trying thd road wheels fitted to the car, in the space for the spare am i the only person that has done it? I think not. The spare wheel well is thd same dimentions mk2,3 and 4.
  14. I am. But then it is your car, so you decide. Do not trust in strangers...
  15. It is damn easy. Take a wheel off the car and try in the spare tyre well. Less of a song and a dance and this might and that might not crap needed.
  16. More engine protection / longevity. Not something VW were concerned over they just liked the WLTP certification. Supposed lower emissions. real world while not doing real world temperature / climate / driving regime tests.
  17. But, for a 2024, if the sticker says 0w20 then so be it, and using 0w30 FS III sounds pretty good.
  18. Wrong sticker then for a 2014 TDI. An oil that VW started using pre WLTP in around 2017/18. The oil then was VW504 00 / 507 00. 507 00 for the TDI Fixed or Variable servicing / oil changes. 5w 30 FS III (Long Life.) Not VW508 00 / 509 00 so 0w 20 FS IV. Some world regions might have been 0w 30 FS III, but ar 12 years old 5w 30 FS III is 'Simply Clever' to use.
  19. Worth remembering that there are people that have come to the likes of BRISKODA in the past asking how they can Disable the TC / ASR and not have to press to disable, (HOLD THE BUTTON A FEW SECONDS.) There are even those that want the ESP disabled. Then there were Mk2 Fabia pre 2012 without TC / ASR that people wanted to activate, add a button, and also ESP was a cost option on some Mk2 Fabia right up til the EU regulations making it compulsory. Long story short. Check what your model has standard or options and still you never know what previous keepers did or did not do, unless you owned from new...
  20. But as seen above, loads of room and even a 215/40 R17 or 205/45 R 17 fits in. AKA Full Size Rims and Tyres as might fit a Fabia, and without the floor sitting higher.
  21. The car does not happen to have Self seal tyres from the likes of Continental fitted does it? Or mouse or tyre weld already in it .? Time to flash the cash and have the wheel off the car and in the water back, or squeezy in water sprayed if not doing youself. It might well be the valve. Always worth over inflating then reducing pressure to see if that seats the bead.
  22. No spare / Space Saver / Saver of Space is identical to the cars tyres unless exactly the same size / profile and wheel size / width. They are there or there abouts. Even a brand new matching wheel / tyre unused when put on is not identical to a 10,000 mile tyre that is on the car. steel wheel and narrower tyre
  23. 'Simply Clever' or Vorsprung Durch Technik might be when Main Dealerships and Skoda say that the Haldex Service is not just an oil change and a clean up or replacing a Screen or Filter is important. & agreeing when Services are due, and this applies also with VAQ diffs.
