Potential Purchases, Questions?
As I’ve already mentioned above, the DSG 7 (dry) isn’t serviceable, your dealer is wrong.

Potential Purchases, Questions?
It will be a DSG ‘dry box’ auto therefore requires no servicing. As for the engine/gearbox combination I’ve read several times on here that the DSG box is better suited to the 1.0 engine, so you should be good. I don’t know why it’s better suited to the 1.0 but I’ve definitely read it here from one or two members. As for the 1.0 engine, well I was frankly blown away when I was lent one from a dealer, it honestly doesn’t feel much behind the 1.5 in terms of performance, and it is very very refined.

Some help/questions about my Škoda Kamiq
Surprise surprise 🙄

Some help/questions about my Škoda Kamiq
In my experience Dealership salesmen have very little knowledge of the cars they sell. In this case he’s probably glanced over the specs of the facelift model and assumed that the car he sold you also has matrix lights. I could be wrong but just saying, pretty much every salesman I’ve dealt with over the years knew very little about the cars they sold me.

Additional extras worth having I feel....
Now that looks miles better to be fair. In the original pic it looked baggy and a bit clumsy, but your adjustments have made it look pretty good👍

Mate it’s only my opinion, if you like it then it doesn’t matter what others think. I personally think that the standard cloth on the armrest looks fine, but again if you don’t like it then that’s cool. Mods to cars will always be subjective, and there i things I like that others don’t and that’s cool. If you like it then stuff everyone else (including me). As for it wearing, well I had my previous MC for over 2 years and it looked as good as new so honestly you don’t need to worry about that.

Whereas I much prefer the fabric, not cold on a winters day and not hot on a summers day. With due respect, that looks truly awful. Not only does it look baggy but the stitching doesn’t match with the seats.

Potential Purchases, Questions?
I’m on my second Kamiq Monte Carlo (first a 21 plate, current a new 73 plate) and both came with Good Year Eagle F1’s. On my 21 plate I’d covered 17k and all tyres were good, with around 5mm tread left. As for the brake discs, I never had an issue on the 21 plate, and it’s far too early to tell on the 73 plate although I don’t anticipate any issues.

Rattles and Creaks
I’m now on my second Kamiq and they have both been the quietist cars I’ve ever owned in terms of rattles and squeaks. The build quality is second to none. Every car will produce the odd rattle, squeak or vibration, no matter whether it’s a Dacia or a Rolls Royce. Thousands of bolted on, screwed on, riveted on and moving engine parts on our crap roads will unfortunately result in the odd noise, it’s simple physics. Unless it is horrendous (in which case I’d insist the dealer deals with it) I would not go to the trouble of the previous poster, screw that.

Agree with most, especially the rubber car mats which I too have….but a screen protector for the infotainment screen? The ONLY reason I might use a screen protector is on my phone, because it’s used daily out and about and they protect from drops, bangs and scrapes…but for a car infotainment screen? Overkill.

Any big people drive a Kamiq MC?lol
I am 6’2 and well built (not fat- kind of similar to a typical rugby player) and my Kamiq MC is easily the most comfortable car I’ve ever had……if that helps.

Which Kamiq?
Folks, I’m on my second Kamiq 1.5 DSG and trust me when I say that the hesitation you talk about in the 1.0 is very much present in the 1.5 as well. I’ve learnt to live with it and adapted by taking my foot off the brake a couple of seconds before so the car coasts, then the moving away in 1st is much smoother. But yes, the slight hesitation in the 1.0 is very much present in the 1.5 too.

Which Kamiq?
A week ago I picked up my new Kamiq Monte Carlo 1.5 DSG, replacing my 21 plate 1.5 DSG. Whilst I was waiting for my new car the dealer lent me a 1.0 DSG Kamiq Monte Carlo and I was knocked sideways. The 1.0 with DSG was absolutely brilliant, with acceleration feeling very similar to the 1.5. As for the DSG being more suited to the 1.5 I have to disagree, both versions of the engine have good and bad quirks when mated to the DSG. I wouldn’t hesitate getting the 1.0 DSG when I change my current car, it was surprisingly good.

New whip
Great cars, best I’ve ever had. Barring a disaster I can see my next car as another Kamiq. Skoda, don’t balls it up😕
-
New whip
As title suggests, my new 73 plate Kamiq Monte Carlo to replace my 21 plate Kamiq MC. Thought I’d go all arty on the pic. In all my years of driving this is the first time I’ve gone for the same car/same spec…..that’s how much I rate it. Covered 80 miles so far, so far so good.

Buying advice for a Kamiq
If you can go for the Monte Carlo, quite a bit less grandad looking than the other specs. Seriously though, it’s the nicest looking Kamiq you can get, but i appreciate that this is subjective.

Spare Wheel conformity?
Can’t you just go out and look?

Can Running Lights Be Swtiched Off?
Can’t you just reverse in? Have I missed something🤔

Anybody take up the dealer paint & upholstery protection ?
It’s a car, it’s designed to be used in all weathers and protection or not it will get dirty and it will pick up stonechips, scrapes and scratches. Apart from the odd wash and wax I wouldn’t bother. Years ago I used to be ultra paranoid with my cars, washing them every other day in the winter when it was -2 degrees, inspecting the bodywork every time I had driven it, not parking next to other cars etc. Screw that these days, it’s a lump of metal and whilst I like my cars to be nice I refuse to let it consume me like I did when I was younger. Drive it, enjoy it and WHEN you pick up stonechips, the odd scratch or minor dent just brush it off because it happens…..expensive paint protection or not.

Absolute waste of money. You can go online and get far superior products that do the same job for far cheaper….and do it yourself. You think that your average Main Dealer has a dedicated bodywork and detailing expert on site? No, it’ll be the minimum wage car cleaner that on a typical day washes cars with filthy water and grit ridden sponges. Do it yourself, that way you save a shed load of money AND you will actually care about the car you are working on, unlike the service departments car cleaner that sees your car as just another car. You might get better results from so called “detailing specialists” but again it’s nothing you can’t do yourself for far cheaper. Remember this, nobody will car for your car as much as you car for your car. But, your money your choice.

Questionable oil reading on a new 2021 Kamiq 1.0 TSI
I’ve literally never known such an in depth debate about something as mundane and as basic as checking oil levels. This place really does make me howl with laughter sometimes 😂😂😂 Keep going, I’ll get the popcorn😂😂😂

Kamiq reverse lights
What’s wrong with the reverse lights? The reverse lights on my MC are bright white LED’s and are more than adequate. Dont all Kamiq models use the same?
-
What is your favourite thing about your Kamiq?
I keep reading about these squeaks in the Kamiq but I honestly can’t relate. My MC is literally the quietest, most solidly built car ive ever had. I’ve had 2 x Audi’s (both new) a horrendous BMW (again new) and various other brands over the years but the Kamiq is hands down better than the lot. Maybe mine is the exception 🤷🏻♂️

Kamiq or Karoq
The Kamiq is easily big enough for 6 foot plus passengers in the rear, with ample head and legroom. For the difference in price I’d go for the Kamiq all day.
