  1. If you run out of electric power while driving, the problem is the alternator. Get your battery charged asap to save it. Batteries don't like being discharged for a long time. This charger is my favourite: https://www.ctek.com/uk/battery-chargers-12v-24v/mxs-5-0-uk No idea if a full battery will last the 22 min to the garage... Do you want to risk stranding on a motorway? Exchanging an alternator is no rocket science. Instead of picking up your car on a tow-truck, maybe your garage can fix your car where it is now?
  2. Before randomly changing parts: Have you checked power and ground?
  3. @JuSko Open the bonnet and you know. Intake manifold injecors can usually easily be seen.
  4. @JamesBrown What's the mileage of your Superb? And did you fit the new Koni's yourself or did you have your garage do it? I'm thinking about fitting these Special Active shocks as well, but the ones needed for the front (8745-1038) are sold out everywhere. 😥
  5. B.t.w.: I changed the oil in my DQ200 gearbox last December. See this thread in the Dutch Skodaforum.nl: https://www.skodaforum.nl/forum/i/oliewissel-dsg-versnellingsbak-dq200.50395/
  6. Nice job, but I don't understand this sentence. Normally you remove the wheel, and remove the wheel liner (around 10 Tx25 screws). This is also a good opportunity to clean out all the dirt that collects behind the front wheel liners (between wheel and front door). Wasn't removing the wheel liner possible?
  7. Removed ice from these windows with a scraper?
  8. The correct oil type for your gearbox (not the Mechatronic!!) is G055512A2 (you need 1.7 liter). That is however not going to fix any clutch issues, since the clutch is dry, and completely separated from the gearbox and its oil.
  9. If the clutch switch is the issue, can't you simply unplug (or bridge, depending on whether it's NO or NC) that switch?
  10. @S1992 That front brake system is from ATE. You can buy the same component with an ATE-logo for about half the price that you pay your VAG-garage. Also don't forget to do both sides, left and right!
  11. B.t.w. you shouldn't just use a bypass, but also have to change the pins on the radio side, to connect the old aux wire from the bluetooth module to the microphone-in connection. (Or you need a quadlock adapter who does this). Here is a diagram (and a picture) I collected:
  12. @vdias Not an answer to your question, but have you used a quadlock adapter to connect the MIB2 radio? Where did you put this adapter? It looks like there is not enough space for such a large adapter behind the head unit...
  13. Two questions regarding these MIB STD2 PQ units: Are map upgrades still supported? Anybody know for how long? There is almost no space behind the head unit. Where to put this massive quadlock adapter?
  14. Attachment is better, otherwise the post becomes much too long. Your problem however is probably the fly wheel. It looks like the mounted the wrong one. I also do not understand why you bought a used fly wheel? This is probably the dual mass one, and these wear. Especially in such a difficult to get to location, I would always use new components. The risk of premature failure with a used part is much too high.
  15. As I already told you in the beginning of this thread: These tubes shrink in length as they age. That's why the tube was disconnected. You have now reconnected it, but the tube is still too short, so the issue will return. The only permanent fix is to replace the tubes by new ones.
  16. 90% chance it is the sunroof. Most likely the drain tubes are loose (they shrink in length over time, and have to be replaced). It is a well know VAG problem.
  17. That is a common problem that all these VAG sunroof tubes have: They tend to shorten over time... Normally they replace the complete tube by new ones, but your fix (if long-term watertight) may be a solution as well.
  18. Apart from your 4x4, you have a problem with the font settings. This is unreadable. Please modify your post to use the default fonts of this forum.
  19. I've had the same issue years ago (already have my S2 since 2011). There were two possible causes: One is mentioned above (long press on the open key opens all windows). The other possible cause is "rain closing" which is supposed to automatically close the windows of a parked car when it starts raining. There could be some bug in that function which opens instead of closed the windows in some circumstances. I disabled both and never had the issue again. But also never bothered to find out which of the two was the primary cause.
  20. Sorry, but that's a contradiction. You state that you use EGR cleaner every 10 k KM, and that this cleaner is helpful, but still the EGR broke down.... Can you explain how that cleaner was helpful?
  21. @xtp77 The S2 has electric power steering. So no power steering fluid. And like in any other front wheel drive car, the differential is integrated in the gearbox. So there is no separate differential fluid (unless you have a 4x4 of course). BTW: If you really don't know if your car has a differential, I highly doubt whether you should maintain the car yourself...
  22. @SuperbDP Thanks for the feedback. Too bad you haven't found a working one at Ali though... Mine is also 13 years old, so I might need a replacement in the near future as well.
  23. There is also this thread about replacing this siren in the Octavia section: Does have quite a few posts, but also no references to working, cheaper alternatives.😒
  24. Sorry to restart an old thread, but according to my ETKA, type no. 1K8951605B was originally installed in my Superb (built in July 2011). This number was replaced by 1K0951605C on June 1, 2012. This last number is also the one that Skoda-Parts.com is selling (at a whopping € 256...), so I think that is the correct number you need to buy when needing a replacement. Has anyone successfully installed a cheaper version from Aliexpress without any resulting VCDS errors? I might need one in the near future...
