  1. Something making the brakes stick if you had city braking. I don’t think they do that on the Rapid? Strongly suspect a sticking brake callipers. Please check which wheel is the hottest next time and after your next journey. Otherwise wheels off and check all disks and pads for excess wear. Don’t forget inner pad should be checked also.
  2. Had the same on my NSF 2005 octy. I just replaced the whole strut with a used low mile spare, a couple of years back.
  3. Superb bonnet catches do play up it’s a known thing. Usually need screwdriver to release safety rather than closing issues. Have you tried dropping it from a low height vs pushing down to close ?
  4. Octavia mk2 hatch vs superb mk2. For the airport run with load cover removed the superb wins as it takes more cases and larger ones also. for carry tools in large boxes and other stuff. The Octavia seems better because the load level is higher it means I can put more stuff in the boot and leave the parcel shelf in meaning nothing is on show. For me security is also just as important even if it’s just your holiday gear if it’s in view someone will try and nab it. Plus also on an estate if you had the load cover off items in the boot could roll forwards to the rear passengers. The secure aspect can be resolved with a dark rear tint of course.
  5. Doesn’t it just clip on to the screen part. From vague memory there are some metal clips/prongs that hold it in place. Maybe they need bending a little to keep the tension?
  6. Be careful if one of the wires breaks you could end up with headlights on all the time with ignition. Hope you get it fixed soon.
  7. There are write ups on here for this job. I believe a special tool is required to get at the door lock cable, but this could be only for keyless cars, not actually sure. Have a search certainly one or two threads in 2021.
  8. It sounds like the Vrs Octavia wins over the Leon, maybe it’s the 230bhp!
  9. Leon sounds really nice. I didn’t know they did such a powerful diesel version. Independent suspension i am sure makes a difference, we have a 2013 1.2Tsi Tech which is solid beam. Lovely cars to look at and loaded with toys. How do you get bigger brakes is that a factory option on the FR? Did you go manual or DSG? Hatch or estate ? This is almost like a Golf GTD but way cheaper right?
  10. Welcome back. 4 years went so quick. what do you think of the Leon what do you have exactly? You went from a 07 Octy? Plus of course tell more about new Octavia also😜
  11. Assuming you have 18” diamond cut wheels these can be more costly than “normal” alloys. Some people have refurbished them and not diamond cut them again. I think it helps with the longevity in future. Costs vary and so does quality. So shop around. If you specify your location, perhaps others in your locale can give some recommendations of where to go.
  12. 140 or 170bhp? Elegance or L&K? Forgive me, just so noisy. But it helps if your profile is updated when asking specific questions in relation to your car.
  13. A Columbus can do all of that. I believe you need the Dab model. Bluetooth module. You have Nav perhaps out of date and camera can be added to the show on screen. No expert, so hopefully someone more knowledgable will be along soon.
  14. Welcome to the forum. Which model spec engine do you drive? Your profile is basic
  15. Drivers door wiring loom. Check the gaitor in the door jamb. It’s so common in the last 6-12 months and on Superbs
  16. For me the drivers affected the passenger door on the offside also. Check it locks opens all window and mirror controls work from drivers door. Was the usual wiring loom drivers door gaitor which knocked out the rear door lock also some window controls
  17. Did you check the inner and outer pads? Perhaps the one front or rear pad within the wire on it has somehow ground to earth or however it works?
  18. Spill the beans what was the diesel cleaner you used did you wack the whole bottle in the tank?
  19. Surely the owner would have been aware of such stone chips during ownership already? or have they been coloured in that well that the first time it saw a jetwash rather than say a home bucket wash they all fell out ?
  20. Some say a Golf Mark 5 2004 onwards ,can give similar insight to the Octy. Not sure if the situation has changed
  21. You used some hair product on it?
  22. That’s a very good run for the car. What engine size was that and what gearbox manual or DSG did you ever change the gear oil on a manual? Did you experience any common issues with it ?
  23. This may go some way to explain the current market. https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/355110/used-car-prices-skyrocket-all-time-high
  24. Get the balance checked at another tyre shop first with weights still on. If they find an issue get them rebalanced.
