Door and alarm
Hi Rob and welcome to the Forum. The first (and easiest) thing to check is for broken wires in the loom between driver's door and A pillar. This is a known problem on Roomsters (and certain other models) and is the main cause of apparently unrelated electrical issues similar to yours. Do a search on here for broken door loom. The plastic shroud that protects the loom can be pulled back very easily for inspection of the wires. Good luck 🤞 Edit: I'll ask the Mods to move your post to the Roomster owners' section, where it will get more attention.

Roomster overwhelmed by choice
I agree with @edbostan The 3 cylinder 69PS non-turbo engines fitted to early Roomsters were slow and thirsty. Definitely go for one of the later 4 cylinder 86 or 105PS turbo engines. I had two Roomsters, a 1.9 diesel and a 1.2 105PS petrol. The petrol engine was almost as flexible and economical as the diesel engine - and a lot quieter! I have a later version of the petrol engine in my Yeti and remain very pleased with it.

Help, CAMBELT
I'm surprised your dealer didn't mention need for cambelt replacement when you booked your fifth year service. (On second thoughts, maybe I shouldn't be surprised ) Cambelt needs to be replaced every 5 years, regardless of mileage. Mine is due in March - I'm saving up!

Yeti A pillar screw covers
I think OP is referring to the black plastic trims that cover the exteriors of the A pillars. The retaining screws and covers (3 on each side) are located on the inner edges of the trims, accessible from inside the door opening.

Battery replacement 2010 Yeti
The battery on my 2017 Yeti was one of a faulty batch of Moll batteries that failed prematurely. A few days before the three year warranty expired, the car refused to start. I called Skoda Assist (exemplary service incidentally) who tested the battery and found it "totally shot". The technician replaced the battery there and then. After I had thanked him, the technician told me he still needed to code the battery to the car. Although I had to stand at a safe distance (Covid) I saw the technician plug a laptop into the car, start the engine, then switch on full electrical load. Lights, seat heaters, blower, heated windscreen, heated rear window, radio... the lot. I also saw him turn the steering to full left lock then to full right lock, presumably to add power steering to the electrical load. Interaction between technician, laptop and car lasted around five minutes. I do not wish to enter into any argument about the necessity of coding; I am merely reporting what I saw

Yes - it was Mk1pete in this thread. Sadly, Mk1pete hasn't visited Brisky since January 2019 so is unlikely to see OP's request.

1.2 TSi Water Pump Failure - Goodwill?
Hi Matt. Here is my experience; read into it what you will! The water pump on my 2017 1.2tsi Yeti failed similarly at 4 years and 15,000 miles. Dealer (All Electric) offered to replace the pump for around £420 - take it or leave it. No offer of goodwill whatsoever. When I put it to All Electric that I had purchased a 5 year warranty (£525) with the car, they had difficulty in finding any record of it. When details of the 5 year warranty eventually surfaced, the water pump was replaced at no cost to me. Best of luck with securing a goodwill payment. If your dealer refuses, then try contacting VW UK. Please let us know how you get on. Rob

The weirdest noise....driving me crazy....
Never heard that noise before so clutching at straws here... Have you looked under the bonnet to see if the noise is coming from the engine compartment and not from behind the dash? Maybe an aftermarket alarm... or maybe a mislaid mobile that is trying to connect to the car?

Towing with a Roomster

Towing with a Roomster
As above - 1.9tdi discontinued 2010 (possibly at the time DPFs became mandatory) !.9tdi produced oodles of torque and was very economical and reliable, if a little gruff. Tinworm not an issue on Roomster I consider my Roomster Scout 1,9tdi the best car I have owned in 50 years of motoring. I still regret selling it.

Vari flex seat stuck
Assuming the vari-flex seats in Karoqs are similar to those in Roomsters and Yetis, they will not release unless the seats are in the fully rearward position. On one of my Roomsters, I had to sit in the seat and shuffle it hard back in order to get it to go fully rearward.

Roomster Locked Towball - No Key!
Hi @burchy1234 and welcome to Briskoda. Sadly, Vrroomy has not visited since 2017 so is unlikely to read your post. Since your problem is not Roomster specific, it might be worth posting in the 'General Maintenance' section where it should attract more attention. Try to include as much detail about your tow bar as possible. Good luck 👍

Advice on Yeti please before i buy.
Hi Lee and welcome to Briskoda. I've owned both manual and DSG Skodas and have to say I prefer DSG. My only criticism of DSG is the half-second delay between release of the brake pedal and auto-engagement of the clutch. This can make for jerky progress in stop-start traffic until you get used to it - which doesn't take long! Release the brake pedal, wait half a second for the clutch to engage, then press accelerator and progress is smooth. I see you are looking for a diesel Yeti. Diesel Yetis have 6 speed wet clutch DSGs, which are generally considered more reliable than the 7 speed dry clutch DSGs fitted to 1.2 petrol Yetis.

Jacking - a lump of wood!
I use a 10" x 7" x 3/4" offcut of OSB, which slots nicely into the gap at the front end of my Yeti's spare wheel.

Turn your Yeti into a camper for one or two.
Another interesting take on a Yeti camper @gumdrop and thanks for posting. I've attempted to overnight in an early Berlingo, a Roomster and a Yeti and I share @b1ackb1rd's views about the limitations and practicalities of sleeping on boards + mat in the back of a car. Incidentally my tent of choice is a Quechua three-man pop-up, which pitches in five minutes and probably takes up less space in the car than a bag of window blinds. If I have no choice other than to overnight in my Yeti, then I lie on the fully reclined passenger seat with two sleeping bags - one to sleep in and one to roll up as a pillow. I find this arrangement more comfortable and convenient than attempting to kip in the back. But as others have said, each to their own

Yeti 2016 1.2 TSI - is water pump change required at same time as cam belt?
As above - cam belt at 5 years; water pump if/when it fails. The water pump should last the life of the car but a few are failing prematurely. Mine failed at 15.000 miles and four years (a gradually increasing leak of coolant past the seals).

Drivers seat going down?
This is something I have noticed in both my Yeti and my Roomster, although not to the same extent. I have to give the adjuster approx. one-eighth of a turn. I sometimes feel the seat itself is going gradually down but I tend to adjust the seat height too many times to be sure of this.

Roomster newbie
Hi @SurreyJohn May I please ask how many miles your Roomster has covered, and whether the DSG has given any problems during that time? Many thanks.

Roomster newbie
Hi MissRooster and a belated welcome to Briskoda. I've had two Roomsters: a Scout 1.9tdi (16" wheels) and an SE 1.2tsi DSG (15" wheels). The Scout was my all-time favourite car in 50 years of motoring. I found an immense difference in noise, harshness and quality of ride between 15" & 16" wheels. If I had kept the Scout, I would have sourced a set of 15" wheels for it after the warranty expired. As it was, I was forced to part-ex the Scout (manual gearbox) for a DSG due to the return of an old knee injury. Enjoy yours
