Adaptive Cruise Control
GPS tells it what country you are in and hence what side of the road vehicles drive on.

RADIO STATION LOGOS
100% agree.

Skoda multimedia screen
If you replace the glovebox unit with a MIB2 one to be compatible with the new screen you will also have to get CP removed and have the FEC codes restored otherwise some features you have now won't work.

Bio Fuel - Effect on fuel economy
Given that the Octavia is now owned by my ex-wife the comparison between them is irrelevant for me. The point I was making is that your statement is incorrect - even the top models of some cars have NA engines.

Roof bar options
I've always used Thule bars - the ones that fitted my RS4 Avant also fit the Octavia 3 estate and I've also got them for my Aygo. Also went for the wing bar edge to minimise the aerodynamic drag. Through or flush? Dunno, not a choice on the estate as it comes with roof rails.

Roof bar options
White with black pack = black roof bars IMHO.

Adaptive Cruise Control
I can confirm that, have driven many times in France using ACC and it always allows me to overtake as usual even if I am on the "wrong" side now!

Door open Warning lights
Where did you get those LEDs from? Other people have mentioned previously that some of the LEDs from 'less desirable' sources can mess up the BCM causing strange faults to appear - such as the door LEDs (which are not monitored and cannot be coded) behaving weirdly.

Bio Fuel - Effect on fuel economy
I have a top spec version of a Toyota that has an NA engine - Toyota

New Owner - Software Question
The only way to see the SW version of the (many) modules in the car is a VCDS or OBD11 Auto-Scan or equivalent.

Front Assist Is Impaired - Easy Fix
So that's an Octavia 4

Phone call jamming system
I had the same problem a few years ago after my phone had a software update - and as suggested rebooting both infotainment AND phone fixed it.

Front Assist Is Impaired - Easy Fix
Octavia 5???

Apple carplay
They have, it's CarPlay AND Android Auto compatible - even if their advertising only mentions CarPlay (BTW Lexus have made the same mistake on their TV advertising which only mentions CarPlay but are also Android Auto compatible).

Navigation sd card
That message says that it's not finding any suitable map data on the SD card. Are you sure you have downloaded the correct map data - it's different for MIB1 and MIB2 and for Amundsen and Columbus? If you're sure it's the correct map data have you unzipped it and copied across ALL the data exactly (files & folders) as it unzipped into the root of the SD card?

RADIO STATION LOGOS
I was able to install icons for every preset station on my MIB1 Amundsen?

Octavia Scout 68-reg 181PS engine idle speed too fast?
I would be very surprised if the idle speed on the other cars was much lower than 750rpm, if lower at all. Every car I've owned has had an idle speed (when warm) in the 750-900rpm range. I agree with earlier replies that the issue is more likely to be with either DSG oil level or DSG clutch calibration.

Rear Light Damage - Advice Please
I believe the same as you.

Wheels
At a glance that looks bad - wider tyres and larger wheel. Confirmed when you paste those details into a tyre size calculator such as https://tiresize.com/tyre-size-calculator/ and you'll see that's really bad as the diameter is 6% greater. You need to use 215/50/16 tyres instead. The rule of thumb is to stay within 2%.
-
Wheels
That depends on the tyres fitted, with a 2" larger wheel you need to fit tyres with a 1" lower sidewall to maintain the same rolling diameter. It's this need for lower profile tyres that causes the worse ride.

Navigation sd card
What SD card did you buy? If you have an Amundsen it MUST be a Skoda SD card. I always copied the old files on the SD card onto my PC, quick formatted the card to FAT32 with 4K cluster size (quicker than deleting the files) and then copied the new unzipped files to the SD card - worked every time for me.

Do I really need a Skoda octavia vrs?
Moral support won't pay his bills though
-
Which one?
With CarPlay or Android Auto it's really easy - after phone connected to car the map appears on the car screen, on Google maps press Search, then the keyboard symbol and type in the postcode. When a route appears press Start - that's it!
-
Which one?
No, both Amundsen and Columbus have navigation only Bolero is without sat nav. If you get a car with a MIB2 Amundsen or Columbus (i.e. late 2016 onwards) then they will have Apple Carplay and Android Auto. Both iPhones and Android phones have sat nav apps preloaded (Apple maps and Google maps) - using either of these apps while the phone is connected to the car infotainment system (using CarPlay or Android Auto) allows you to see the sat nav apps on the car system. Even though I have an iPhone I use Google maps because that allows you to download maps onto the phone while on WiFi so you don't need to download the maps using your PAYG account. The only PAYG account usage is for traffic data which is MUCH less.

Do I really need a Skoda octavia vrs?
On retirement I traded down from an Audi RS4 Avant (4.2L V8 estate) to an Octavia 1.4TSI Combi (estate). Performance? - less but not as much less as I expected. Space? - much more. Insurance? - much less. Running costs? - much less. Of course I would have liked a vRS, but once I test drove the 1.4TSI I couldn't justify the extra costs (purchase and running) of a vRS.
