The other factor in a 20mph limit is driver attention, keeping to 30mph is pretty easy to do whilst looking out at the road but in many vehicles keeping to 20mph requires more checking of the speedo and hence less time looking out at the road. This can result in more accidents, albeit that every one is less serious and maybe some are so minor that they don't get reported? I seem to remember this was reported by the BBC about the 20mph scheme in the northern part of Portsmouth, but can't find any links to it?

When you turn it on with diagnostics does it actually heat? The defrost button light going on then off usually indicates that the heater element isn't taking enough current.

@Graham ButcherI don't know who you're replying to but it sure isn't me, I think the 20mph limit has no place on any of our roads.

But how many lives have to be lost before that "cost of the road" calculation is more than offset by the" cost of lost lives" and "cost of lost time to the economy" calculation? Regular stretches of dual carriageway would have been a more suitable option than the NDLR as originally built, and not as expensive as a complete dual carriageway. Anyway, lives have been lost and other lives caused mental anguish because of the original decision, let's hope the current improvements are enough to significantly cut the toll of lost lives and serious injuries - but the jury is out on that.

Why? The overtaking opportunities are so few and far apart that people who either don't know the road intimately (usually Grockles) or are just impatient take risky overtaking manoeuvres which all too often end up in a fatal accident. If only the NDLR had been built to the same standard as the A38 Devon Expressway it would be a MUCH safer road for all, locals and Grockles. It remains to be seen if the "little bit here, little bit there" current improvement scheme will represent a real improvement in safety, I and many others who live(d) in the area have our doubts.

Not just Skoda, all VW group (Audi, VW, SEAT, Skoda, etc.) and many other manufacturers too (PSA and Toyota I've personally experienced).

Depending on what the BMS thinks the battery state of charge is the voltage at idle or when driving can be anywhere between about 12V and 14.5V

Not only on the NDLR, also on the old A361 between the villages.

I'm not sure that is true of all service buses, when living in South Molton it was pretty normal to find a service bus (not a coach) doing well over 50mph on the roads between there and both Barnstaple and Tiverton.

So are you using an Apple certified cable?

Unless you have an iPhone 15 the cable will be different for an Android phone, as up to iPhone 14 they have a Lightning socket not a USB-C? CarPlay and Android Auto are enabled using different FEC codes so it's entirely possible for one to work and the other not.

Best way to check whether the oil pressure is OK is to temporarily fit a genuine mechanical oil pressure gauge.

That makes them not being truthful as putting green energy onto the Grid is absolutely NOT the same as being supplied exclusively with green energy. So many people have little or no understanding of how the Grid works that companies can get away with telling untruths, even some Chartered Electrical Engineers I have worked with don't understand the difference.

With BT this also means that if you have a Home Hub they have to replace it with a Smart Hub as the Home Hub does not have an analogue phone socket. My GF recently had this swap done by a BT "Engineer" who knew nothing about the other package BT had sent of a new BT TV (now EE TV) box and another Smart Hub - so they are both still boxed as delivered and sitting in a cupboard!

Unless you have a separate connection from the green generator then this statement is always untrue. The National Grid cannot guarantee that green generated electricity goes to customers paying a green tariff, all they can guarantee is that you are paying to put green energy ONTO the National Grid but cannot guarantee that you will be SUPPLIED with green energy.

Battery off load voltage is not a good indication of battery condition - an old battery that has high internal resistance can still read 12V off load but be unable to start the engine.

My new house is on an estate that was built with FTTH, BUT my GF lives in Bradford-on-Avon where there is rotating chaos as the roads are dug up (mostly by Gigaclear contractors) to lay fibre to EVERY property. The chaos they cause is a matter of much "comment" locally and even more frustration as they keep returning to roads where they have not completed the work when they first dug up the road. Oh and they don't always cleanup their spoil - they left a pile of road rubble outside my GFs house which only got taken away after a complaint to the local council and Gigaclear.

Doesn't mean a lot - the temperature gauges show 90 for aa wide range of temperatures, as VAG got too many owners going back to dealers saying the water temperature had gone up/down by a few degrees which is normal.

During a month long power outage in Fleet Hampshire a few years ago the local Honda garage ran their petrol & diesel pumps from Honda generators...

AFAIK the 1.4TSI Octavia 3 never had an engine cover in its Skoda form - the only cover I could find was a VW one - so I'm not sure that's the reasin an engine cover is fitted.

Unless you have DCC the whole suspension system is purely mechanical so there are no electronic diagnostics! So running a diagnostic scan would be a total waste of time and money.

I think all political parties are quite content to "kick that can down the road" because of concerns about upsetting voters until it becomes an economic necessity.
