  1. Sounds like VAG have messed up their diagnostics reporting - VCDS just reports what the VAG software says
  2. I wish all the software bugs to be fixed!
  3. While on holiday in south Devon the front nearside sidelight bulb failure warning would show on the Maxidot when the auto headlights turned on. I'm surprised that there's no 'cold monitoring' so the warning only shows when the bulb is turned on. Looking at the circuit diagram from erWin and comparing that with the Leuchte channels in the BCM shows different pin numbers on the BCM for the front sidelights? Can anyone shed some light on which BCM pins and Leuchte channels actually control the front sidelights with Bi-Xenon headlights?
  4. Blown fuse Faulty wiring Power management disabling them due to poor battery state of charge You need a VAG specific code reader such as VCDS or OBDeleven, rather than a generic OBD reader, to see the detail.
  5. A small but important point - it's not a "VCDS voltage", VCDS merely reports what the firmware in the VAG/Skoda module setting is.
  6. This video explains that the valves stay closed when the cylinders are deactivated https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoohR8sar5g
  7. You don't need a serial number on the battery, as @ApertureS said just change the serial number stored in the battery managment module by 1 digit.
  8. I've made a similar change from a 1.4TSI to a 1.8TSI and observed the 1.8 coming out of ECO mode - but it's under situations where engine braking is required rather than just coasting , such as going down an incline (not even a hill).
  9. Presumably you were able to drive it betweem January and July - in which case your local main dealer has caused the problem?
  10. If you have Front Assist then you have ACC, disabling Front Assist does NOT disable the "Adaptive" part of Cruise Control - so it will continue to adapt its speed according to how close other cars are in front. That's how ACC works. Have you tried reducing the distance setting for ACC using the slider control on the top of the cruise stalk?
  11. On the Octavia 3 that's the case, but some other models had the 1.4TSI ACT engine.
  12. Both of my Octavia's (1.4TSI and 1.8TSI) have had the full battery cover, sides & top.
  13. No, the instruments don't have the software in them to display a green dipped beam symbol - in their 'wisdom' many car manufacturers have removed it!
  14. Best person to answer that is @pab567
  15. As I said Canton is separate amplifier, which can be added to Amundsen, Columbus, etc. Is there any wording such as Canton on the speaker grille on the front doors? If not then the glovebox unit is the problem, if there is Canton written on the front speaker grille then the problem is the separate amplifier.
  16. Do you have Canton? That is a separate amplifier, so if you have Canton the problem will be the amplifier not the glovebox unit.
  17. Every Google search I do says that the 5E0035812A DOES have Bluetooth???
  18. You can buy genuine Skoda 32GB SD cards off eBay etc for a sensible price.
  19. But set against that it is claimed that the risk of being struck by a car travelling at 20mph is higher as drivers spend more time looking at their speedo instead of the road.
  20. Count me confused? 87.1MHz is an FM frequency, not a MW frequency (531-1602kHz).
  21. Then you need to buy an older car, the Golf 8 (and related cars like the Octavia 4) have been released with many software faults and VAG are being very slow fixing them (and in some cases even accepting that they exist).
  22. Is the parameterisation and coding correct for the new software? Sometimes that changes between software versions.
  23. Could also be that a previous owner has changed the BCM settings.
  24. You're obviously several years out of date with the variable displacement compressors that are fitted to cars. The fuel usage can start from almost zero and never reaches the mpg levels of older electromagnetic clutch systems in the UK climate.
