Which surely makes the ULEZ zone and expansion fairly pointless as it won't be tackling the biggest source of pollution from vehicles?

This has been known and posted on here since at least 2016 when I purchased my first Octavia - it didn't have memory seats so I had the same lack of success when I tried to setup mirror dip on reverse. My current L&K Octavia has a memory drivers seat so mirror dip on reverse works perfectly. IIRC @SashaGrace discussed this issue at length as one her many retrofits.

I wouldn't agree that loose covers/trim isn't the problem, because what you describe sounds like a loose piece of trim or cover to me - that's fairly tight so it only vibrates when the vehicle speed is high enough for the airflow to make it vibrate.

I would suggest that 20-30 minutes would be a time many (most?) people would find acceptable.

Is a 2015 A5 Haldex or Torsen? A4/A5 quattros were originally Torsen but changed to Haldex to reduce emissions, but I can't remember what model year the change was made.

That's not true of all new cars, the Toyota I ordered new in 2020 came with a space saver spare and I quickly discovered that there WAS room for a full size spare which I duly purchased.

The best answer is to take the car to a mechanic who understands mechanics and is not just a 'keyboard jockey' with a diagnostics tool. Diagnostics only cover parts of the car managed by electronics, and that excludes nearly all of the mechanical parts.

The bodywork is the same, what is different is the foam liner which either accommodates a space saver spare plus tools or a container of sealant gunk plus tools.

There should be a label in the fuel filler flap that has recommended tyre pressures based on tyre size and car occupancy.

If there is currently no 4G coverage where you live then it will fallback to 3G even if the SIM is 4G capable - I suspect this is the case where you are, it's certainly true for much of rural Wiltshire where I live!

Replacing the ECU is expensive (very!) and isn't something that should be done unless and until the wiring and connectors have been 100% physically and electrically checked. It's not unheard of for an ECU to be swapped and the problem remain, simply because the wiring check has not been thorough enough.

The recall is for a safety problem when the cover is fitted, since your car was built without the cover the recall doesn't apply and hence is not shown against your car.

Check against a wiring diagram where the voltage supply to the throttle pedal comes from - and then trace the wiring back to the source.

Are you aware that Google Maps (and now Apple Maps) have an offline maps option? If you download maps onto your phone whilst on your home WiFi then you don't need a mobile phone signal to use Google Maps or Apple Maps - the only thing you lose is live traffic updates when there is no mobile signal.
