Thinking of coming back to Skoda - Superb Sportline Plus
I do the worlds shortest commutes and get an average of 24mpg. On a decent 200 mile run I can get 36, sometimes 38 depending on how light I am with the right foot in Eco everything. And yes, that would include the two or three occasions on that journey when I just can’t help dropping to Sport and surprising the idiot driver as they sit 6 feet from my bumper on the M?, by then flooring it in 3rd…. Byeeeee!

Tracking & alignment
I’m aware of tyre speed ratings but 70/80 mph for 4 hours, two up with 250kg of luggage and the kitchen sink in the back, I’ll be sticking with my settings. Doing this, plus rotating the tyres on our owned vehicles since 2001, has returned life mileages of 35-40k. In fact, our Peugeot 604ti which we had in the mid ‘80’s, had Michelin TRX tyres fitted from new, covered 50k before I changed them.

What have you done to your Superb III today?
Correct - LSP = Last Stage Product, which in this case was TW Ceramic and Graphene wax.

Tracking & alignment
2.6 all round on the Conti All Seasons unless the cars loaded and on a long fast run, then they go upto 2.8.

What have you done to your Superb III today?
Washed all the bird poop off the 280 gained from parking under a tree for 3 hours yesterday. And then I had to wash it properly. And then add an LSP to the bonnet and roof. And coat the tyres. And Dyson the inside. Even though I didn’t want to, I felt compelled too. Bloody annoying really…🙄

Hid bulb turning pink
Wow Phil. That’s really weird, annoying and bloody expensive. Hopefully someone here can help you get to the cause.

Rear Canton speakers replacement
Then I’d suggest that perhaps there is something wrong with the DSP amp, as the sound in the rear of our Canton equipped car is great.

Fuel additive yes/no?
Just wondering. For what reason/s, apart from the stealer profit-improvement aspect, does everyone say or even SCREAM no? Snake oil? Not required? Does not improve performance? Dangerous?

What have you done to your Superb III today?
Believe me when I say AS, I’ve done all four of mine - two more than once - and you cannot see the repairs, except if you’re 6” away from the damage and even then it’s still not easy. As with most things, it’s down to the skill of the repairer.

Skoda Superb DCC missing or not
Interesting. Does the Golf R have Monroe shocks, JR?

Leather Dye - Anyone bought Any?
As a final update, anyone with a MKIII with a beige interior who has a mark on their seating and wants to buy perfectly matched dye, if they place a custom mix order with Gliptone, then call John Severn on 01244 888658 Option 1 and tell John that you want the colour he mixed for order number 19117, that’ll tell him the correct mix specification.

Leather Dye - Anyone bought Any?
The entire seat base and bolsters, together with the centre section of the squab and bolsters are leather. The top of the squab, where a logo is embossed, or stitched on post Aug 16 cars, plus the squab sides, the top and backs are leatherette… whoops, sorry… “artificial leather”! I now know this as John Severn, the guy who mixes the dye at Gliptone gave me a great tip; if you press your finger nail into the seat firmly (NOT hard) and creases form into the indentation, it’s leather. Leatherette looks like when you push your finger into a balloon, so there’s no creasing which, given its basically plastic-coated fabric, makes sense. Yes, the dye will work equally well on the leatherette/vegan leather/NuLuxe/SofText/SensaTec/MB-tex/blah, blah… 👍🏻

Leather Dye - Anyone bought Any?
Quick update. After the rubbish I received from Scratch Doctor (still no refund from them BTW) I contacted Gliptone last week and they confirmed they could match the leather colour of the car. I said I’d tried to find a large enough piece of leather to send them without success and they suggested I sent them a headrest which, although it’s not leather, in their experience the colour of the leather and the imitation leatherette in Skoda vehicles are identical. I sent the centre headrest to Gliptone last Thursday and yesterday, I received the 250ml of mixed dye, a free small bottle of leather cleaner and the headrest; brilliant service. More importantly than all this rubbish, is that I applied the dye this morning and once dry, the colour match is absolutely perfect. 👍🏻

Electric tailgate problem (new struts didn't solve it)
Probably won’t work, but did you try disconnecting the battery for 10 mins or so?

Skoda Superb Potential Buying Help.
This was told to me by Lookers in Guildford. This was not by the delightful service advisor who called me a w@&ker under her breath for me daring to suggest that the 280 doesn’t have a cambelt - which was confirmed to her by a tech - but by another numpty behind the service desk. Anyway, I’m happy to change the oils more often than the schedule states given the vast majority of miles I do is to and from work and all the wet mechanics barely get warm, especially in the winter.

ACC Question
Ahhh, right. Yeah, we don’t really have those here in Blighty, mate!

Skoda Superb Potential Buying Help.
On 43k with the 250 DSG and no issues, except it has a bit of a sluggish up change for the first 30 seconds when really cold. No idea why it does that, so I’ll wait for the doomsayers to day it’s fecked! DSG service is 40k or three years whatever comes first, but I’m getting it changed every two, regardless of mileage.

ACC Question
I’ve got the stop/start defeat module and it doesn’t make a difference to the ACC stop time either. @JR RS, you’re a brave man using lane assist for steering the car for 60 seconds; even at low speed I wouldn’t trust it.
