2023 Superb vs 2016 Superb
Yep, here are a few more… Fiat Uno Turbo, Ford Escort RS Turbo/RS1600/XR3i, Sierra Sapphire Cosworth 2 & 4WD, Scorpio Cosworth…. Plus, in no particular order…Mercedes 230E, Ford Granada Sapphire, Escort 3 1.3L, Vauxhall Astra 1.6L, Cavalier 1.8iLS (I think, but had power steering I’ll have you know!) Carlton 1.8i, Ford Focus 1.6L, Sierra 2.0 Ghia X Auto (several of those) and some obscure stuff, Kia Sedona, Claris, Magentis and Shuma. One Christmas Eve I had a Transit van with a broken passenger window and busted OSR light unit.

Looking to get a more comfortable ride
The only issue with the Conti’s is the wear differential. After 39k the P7’s still had 3mm; these are already down to 4mm on the front after 12k. Still on 6 at the rear so I’ll be rotating them soon.

2023 Superb vs 2016 Superb
Our 2016 L&K 280 has ventilated seats at the front, AC cooled glove box and centre console, remote release rear seats and a TV tuner. It’s now covered 51k and has been absolutely reliable with the exception of the NSR wheel speed sensor failing three years ago, a split in the AC condenser, the usual water pump failure and a new battery which I needed two years ago. Servicing costs are nuts due to the complexity of the 4X4 system, but I really don’t care as I have no intention of parting with the car. It’s the most comfortable car I have owned, now the quietest car I’ve owned and by far and away, the fastest car I’ve ever owned or had as an allocated company car.. and I’ve had Escort, Sierra and Granada Cosworths, Fiat Coupe Turbos, Nissan 200SX and ‘00’s of other so-called high performance cars. I really do think the 280/272 Superb will become collector Q cars in the true sense of the moniker, especially given the insane levels of tune the EA888 engines can achieve. But even with a stock vehicle, the acceleration, handling and grip are excellent for “normal” drivers. I love it! 👍🏻

It’s the canton amplifier.

Looking to get a more comfortable ride
Try All Seasons tyres instead of the usual summer varieties. So much quieter and fantastic grip in the wet. I changed the OE Pirelli P7’s - the noisiest tyres ever made - for Continental All Season and they’re excellent.

Few questions regarding a used Superb (including 1.5 vs 2.0 TSI and mpg question)
I get between 23-25 on a ridiculously short commute. The best I’ve had on a 200 mile, almost all motorway trip was 40.2.

What have you done to your Superb III today?
I kerbed my NSF wheel YET AGAIN this morning…. Got distracted by my daughter’s dog I was taking to the vet, who began an inverted sneezing fit. FECKIN FECK IT!!

DSG service.
Of course not! Lookers told me I need a Cambelt change at 5 years on the 280 and was called a “w&>ker” when I said it has a cam chain not a belt. Anyway, you’ve come to the right place to get the correct answer. But I don’t have a clue! LOL! 😂

Rear Wiper - Only Travelling 1/2 Sweep
This has just started happening. When I engage the rear wiper, instead of returning to its park position on the right, it stops on the left. After the normal pause it then returns to its park position. If I engage the wash, it operates normally. I had the washer unclogged by the dealer when I had it serviced a couple of weeks ago, but I can’t see how that would be connected to the problem. Any ideas people?

Remapped and now turbo has gone
Actually, I don’t think that’s true. They may move to less traditional areas like FB and Reddit, but information exchange is still strong. I’d think Colin could confirm the numbers for this forum and I’ll be pretty sure they’ll be strong.

Remapped and now turbo has gone
As the OP hasn’t been here since Nov 21, I think the series got cancelled!

What have you done to your Superb III today?
There was no sign of it leaking. At the cam cover joints in the coil pack tube, the red sealant was visible and appeared to be intact.

What have you done to your Superb III today?
Now the 280 has covered 52k, @Travs and I replaced the original spark plugs today and we made a bit of a shocking discovery. So the socket plugs on the coil packs are an absolute PITA to get off…. but that’s not the issue! What we found was the tube through the head with the spark plug at the end, and shrouds the stem of the coil pack in cylinder 1 and 4, contained a fair amount of dirty engine oil; tubes on 2 and 3 were fine. So when the plugs came out the oil disappeared into the cylinders. I estimate there was probably 2-3mm of oil down there. One thing Lee (Travs) did find was that none of the plugs were particularly tight in the head, and certainly not the 30-33nm to which they should be torqued. We cleaned the tubes with MF towels, installed the new NGK R sparks, torqued to 33nm and the car started immediately on the push of the button. So can anyone shed light on what the cause of the oil contamination could be?

DCC Slider adjustment option mod
I’d still love to get this mod. Anyone now offering this in the U.K.? However, if it’d mean upgrading the MIB the it’d be a no no…

What have you done to your Superb III today?
Had a full service and Haldex oil change / filter clean today. Brilliant service as usual from Wheelbase in Hersham, Surrey. The 280 has now covered 52k and the original brake pads are at 7mm front and 4mm rear, so they’re getting changed soon.

How to make Canton sound better on Superb Mk3?
Bit too heavy on the sub/bass for my liking JR, but the mid and treble are about the same as mine and no “muffled” sound. .
-
How to make Canton sound better on Superb Mk3?
And there’s your problem. Try adjusting the treble to +3, mid to +3 and lower bass to +1.

How to make Canton sound better on Superb Mk3?
Canton is the best standard ICE I’ve had in any car I’ve owned or driven. The midrange is especially good, so I can only think there’s something wrong with the amp.

superb iv: a few questions..
The comfort on the 19” rims is dependent on the tyres fitted. I had OE Pirelli P7 and they were harsh and noisy. I now have Conti All Season and the harshness and noise have disappeared.

280 TSI 2018 Exhaust valve making a buzzing noise
OK, so stuff the £69 for the single US one, I just ordered 8 of the springs from Ali. Of course they maybe crap but it’s worth a punt. I don’t have the issue at present, but seems it’s likely one will break.

Now THAT would be worth something today, Lee!
