  1. Does it still happen when you press the Start button without starting the car i.e. press the start button without your foot on the brake? tom
  2. Beware the effect on the speedometer. Legally they are not allowed to under read. A larger rolling diameter, 6.6% as previously stated, is a real risk of being illegal. There may also be a potential problem with insurance and type approval. I wouldn't give an insurance company any excuse to reject a claim. tom
  3. Back in my Ford Anglia 105E days I bought a length of plastic tubing and used it to extend the washer tubing wrapped around the engine top hose to heat up the washer fluid. In the summer the windscreen got washed with warm water. tom
  4. It's in the back of my mind that the original SD card has hidden files. A new SD card won't have these. Perhaps someone else can confirm. Do you have a choice of regions to download? Downloading more than you need may be the reason the files don't fit on the original card. Another thought, are you using a PC or a Mac? There are subtle differenes between them. If you get desperate you could chance one of the cards that are on Ebay. You would need to be careful about getting the right one. Some are used and some new e.g. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/144755928698?hash=item21b4202e7a:g:EK0AAOSwZwFjPrCp&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAA8P7WwiSvplrRyM8rYsswgzhDImkOXPLDFbnz1Gt1gcVZpQPjXQCs1jrxcoPPBW63KN%2FokxX0UDTrc%2F8vGZj%2BfRrpmpTaAhMQV6XsB0iPRcdG6v2%2FTiazAo7CRCPu81mHOICJYEfF3Yk3NAywUbRgS%2FWg%2F%2Ft4zafeD9Z9kc9Vc2sW83TVutkHKUGCaitelqW2rx695j6LHMyyhBSXLt28zmFWiOSmhG%2Bo8ik4Z8UexMs9rU4ieXngO4zX8EUgkbLR96o3NywjCv%2FjmuXuNCYv9YDOjBSNzrzH2UhCZ3NrFYfR7qngGwIiwC0gL0pClR5nRA%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR-7r45ygYQ tom
  5. Why not go to the dealer and ask what system you have, MIB 2 or 3 and how to update it? tom
  6. ...just ugly. tom
  7. It will all depend whether the Kodiak curvature is the same as the Karoq's. I also wondered whether, ignoring the retracting mechanism, the protector on its own would work just glued in place. tom
  8. There were problems in the past with something similar on Kodiaks. You can buy the bits both the protector and the mechanism. https://www.skoda-parts.com/spare-part/565831176-edge-protector-for-front-right-door-skoda-35496.html tom
  9. Do the inserts make cleaning the wheels any easier? tom
  10. The Yeti bump strips may not work. They may not protect the edge of the door. Just a thought. https://www.theskodashop.co.uk/products/skoda-door-strips-outer-yeti-14-to-5l0071329a tom
  11. It's an "Offer to treat" not a contract. tom
  12. ...aah "handbrake turns". Takes me back to my Ford Anglia days, 55 years ago. I had converted the handbrake to a "flyoff" (modified so that the button was only used to lock the handbrake on. The rest of the time not using the button meant that you just pull to lock the wheels and letting go it releases. When stopped, with the handbrake on, pulling it releases it.). Those were the days. tom
  13. I mainly do short journeys, 2-3 miles, the stop/start hardly ever activates. The only time it happens is when I do the occasional longer journey. tom

Do a search "Add paddles" (without the quotes) on all forums in Briskoda (not just this Karoq forum). It will give you some idea as to the sort of problems you may encounter. I imagine the best result would be a swap with a paddle equipped steering wheel from another Karoq. On my 1.5 dsg I only use the paddles when I need a quick overtake. Dropping two gears is quicker than using the kick down especially when driving in Eco mode. A slightly longer pull on the Up paddle then gets me back to Eco. good luck tom
  15. The Yeti rubber mats fit the Karoq. Just have to make one hole to fit over a carpet button on the drivers side. All the other carpets are OK. If your Karoq has the sliding boot hooks I would be tempted to "liberate" two from the Yeti to get extra in the Karoq. tom
  16. Nobody, when discussing mpg, ever states whether they are running with aircon on or off. My aircon is permanently on summer and winter. tom
  17. Happened to my wife away from home. I explained over the telephone how to get in and start the car. If she can do it, anyone can. tom
  18. Be sure you get your terminology correct. Sunroofs do not have drain plugs, if they did they wouldn't drain. It's the sunroof drains that get blocked. Best not confuse the service reception people unnecessarily. tom
  19. Not safety related. tom

2018 SeL with Amundsen (SD card type) navigation. I find the satnav routing very frustrating. I find the three choices impossible to get my mind around. Zooming in to make a reasoned choice is difficult. Restricting the route choice to one seems to be based on pot luck. Too many times it just takes me direct through towns or cities. All I want is to set up the system for the quickest route not the most direct. Examples: Travelling to a destination on the outskirts of Norwich, on a Sunday, I saw the delights of Carrow Road whereas the A47 would have been much better. Yesterday, on another trip I was taken through the centre of Oxford in the rush hour. My 15 year old Garmin Zumo 550 on its original mapping does better. Any pointers or tips for my old brain to grasp would be most welcome. tom
  21. ... or even the 300HP Cupra Ateca! tom
  22. I thought kangarooing only applied to manuals. My 2018 DSG never showed any signs. tom

No guilty conscience problem with mine. The Passat went in under under the Scrappage scheme. Anything removable was removed. Glad I did this as the Yeti I bought just had the gloop puncture repair, pump and nothing else. The Passat jack etc fitted perfectly in the boot cutouts. tom

When you buy one make sure it fits the space. I have one from a previously owned Passat. It doesn't fit. Just like the underseat umbrella, Skoda/VW have two different lengths of black compact umbrella. Needless to say only one fits. tom
