  1. USB sockets run at 5v, so don't be putting 12v through it. Best way I can think is to buy another USB socket like the existing, a new cable to connect it, and connect the new one in behind the brain in the glove box, with your adapter plugged in (and hope you don't need to get to it often). Then disconnect the wire from the rear of the existing USB socket, use another new connection cable and rig it to a USB supply, and plug this into thge rear of the existing socket.
  2. You might be able to do that, but I don't know about fitting a different USB port in the place of the old one. It's something I've never considered before. Is it not possible to simply plug the adapter into the existing USB, and find another place to fit the second one for charging.
  3. Not possible. The unit only has 1 USB port and that's populated with the one factory fitted. You can't add another with full functionality, but you can add one for charging.
  4. Bit too far to pop in and let me have a look then. I can have a look at it if you post it to me as I'm up in North Yorks. But as I said before sometimes they fix, sometimes they don't. 😉
  5. I'm out and about at the moment, I'll get back to you later on.
  6. Whereabouts are you?
  7. Why do you need two speedo readings? Is one not enough?
  8. I like it, now everyone can see all the good stuff we do anonymously. 😅
  9. I don't get £10 from anyone. The subscriptions are paid to Briskoda. Can we leave this subject please, this is not the thread or place for it.
  10. Absolutely not. I'm simply a member who believes that without financial support the site wouldn't be what it is. If I have something to sell then I offer a discount to people who support the site financially. I notice you're not a paid member, perhaps you should join?
  11. Given you've been scammed (or to put it another way, let down by your chosed supplier) I'll do you a deal. If you join the site as a Freedom member (cost is £10 for the year) send me the unit and I'll sort this for the cost of postage. Freedom is detailed here. Note, Freedom lite is not included in the deal... So, if you think this is something you're interested in, then shoot me a personal message.
  12. That sounds like an Amundsen plus model, I've seen that fault before, fixed it a couple of times but failed a few too.
  13. You might get away with just a replacement touchscreen. I can't recall if I have any in the workshop, but it's a possibility and will certainly be cheaper than a new unit.
  14. MK1 Fabiai really don't know what radio it would have. However, I doubt it's as intelligent as needing to be installed in the correct car or handshaking with the cluster etc. More likely it's either the wrong code or he's failed to enter it correctly. For confirmation, a trip to eBay for a few quid with the serial number of the radio will get you the correct code.
  15. A garage I know had a car on the ramp for a geometry check, they pressed the ignition button while out of the car (through the window), the car was in reverse, and it started and drove out the garage and wrote the car off, and damaged three others parked outside. What a good idea the clutch switch would've been if it hadn't been disabled.
  16. Fitting Bluetooth is about an hour's work if you know what you're doing. I've done a few when I've sold them, and I have one in the workshop currently which will be going up for sale soon.
  17. Ease the headliner down at the rear and you'll find a large nut on the underside of the antenna base. It might be loose.
  18. I can't help much with OBDeleven as a tool, but unless you have the handset baseplate (like an old built in car phone) fitted then you won't need that option ticking, clearly it'll give you an open circuit fault because there's no baseplate connected... Other than that, without a VCDS Autoscan I'm not going to guess much, but simplest way to check for faults with the Bluetooth is to temporarily connect a known working module and see what happens.
  19. Youll probably find an eBay seller who will furnish the goods. Same maps as for the VW RNS510.
  20. No real benefit in updating from 4024 software, but the maps could be updated to V17 (8557).
  21. Honestly, it's a £45 repair (plus postage costs). I wouldn't be considering replacing the unit, just remove it from the car, post it over here, I'll fix it and send it back, simples.
  22. Yep, it's a fairly common problem. I offer a repair service if you check the link in my signature.
  23. Mib1 card will work with mib2 maps, mib2 card will work with mib1 maps. But the maps on whichever card you use must be the correct ones for the unit you're using. I have cards available in the classifieds section if needs be...
