Gandalf's Evolution
Spring has arrived, so it was a good reason to wash Gandalf, after a long overdue 5 month draught, and take some updated pics afterwards. Some rolling shots...

Headlamp day time light bars
The DRLs r not designed to b replaced...at least not easily. To get to it, u must remove the headlight front clear plastic which involves extreme heat using a heat gun or baking the headlights. Then u have to pry the plastic off. Once the cover is off, u can access the DRL elements themselves as well as the DRL light circuit board itself. Putting it back is a mess as well because u have to not only glue it back, it has to b sealed 100%. A lot of effort. And good luck finding the DRL elements specific for the Superb. U can find the DRL boards though. I haven't done it myself, but below r some pics from someone that has, showing the headlight with the front plastic cover off.....

Changing the profile of my 19" tyres to get better ride on C roads
My previous ones were Continental Conti MaxContact6. Did 50k+ kms on it. Now I'm running MaxContact7. Fitted about 2 months ago. I've used 2 sets of tyres in my 8+ yrs of ownership thus far - on my 3rd set now.

Do Superbs have heated seats?
Why r u so hung up on something showing up when u change the temp or airflow?
-
Do Superbs have heated seats?
no, nothing shows up or changes on the infotainment screen.

Do Superbs have heated seats?
I haven't replaced or updated the Climatronic on mine - it came like that from factory. Doesn't matter wat screen it's in, if I press the seat button, a small pop-up will show, not the full Climatronic menu. I can then adjust it on screen or continue to adjust via that small pop-up. MIB2.5 Home screen.... Android Auto screen.....

Do Superbs have heated seats?
These r my seats - leather seats, powered, heated, ventilated. My 08 Air Conditioning module is:- Software number: 3V0907044DT Software version: 4101 Hardware number: 3V0907044DT Hardware version: H34 My car is MY17.

Do Superbs have heated seats?
It's the same MIB2.5 9.2" Columbus Unit, just dressed up in a different surround - Superb vs Kodiaq. The Climatronic will b the same too, just different trim surround again.
-
Do Superbs have heated seats?
I have MIB2.5 High and heated/ventilated leather seats on my Superb, and when I press the Seats button on the Climatronic panel, I get the popup on the Infotainment screen to adjust the heating/ventilation levels. Pic below is after I pressed both driver and passenger seat buttons.

Easy entry/exit
Previously, I had tried to enable Easy Entry Seats on my MY17 Superb - no luck. However, after doing a MIB2 to MIB2.5 conversion recently - Easy Entry is enabled and working!! I wasn't expecting that as part of the conversion. I didn't do any code changes, nor changed my seat module (36). It is 5Q0959760C (both HW and SW)

Stop start cuts out when car still moving forward.
+1 There is a reason why many of us have either fitted the start-stop memory module or permanently coded it out. I have the memory module myself so I can still choose to use it, when I need it.

Hid to led headlights upgrade. what do people use in 2025?
Sorry, but I have to disagree with that. If aimed correctly, the bi-xenon headlights have a good spread and throw. Have a look at the vids below, from my MY17 Superb. The factory Osram D3S xenon bulbs r good. Upgraded Phillips xTremeVision Gen2 D3S xenon bulbs r much better. Upgraded J.W.Speaker D3S LED bulbs r really great!! Vid of factory xenons.... Vid of Phillips xenons..... Vid of J.W.Speaker LEDs.....

Question about Skoda ADAS
U can stop it from doing that permanently by disabling "Overtaking Right Prevention" using OBDEleven or VCDS.

Question about Skoda ADAS
It most definitely will NOT brake!! Trust me, I know, whilst doing 80 km/h towards a car already stopped at the lights!! ACC relies on a moving reference target (in the same direction and lane as u r travelling in) to determine if it needs to slow down. A stationary object (car stopped at the traffic lights) will NOT tell the ACC on ur car to slow down gracefully. Instead it will scream "BRAKE!" at u, and then hit the stationary car/object that was stopped at the lights....if u don't react on time jumping on ur brakes!! Manoeuvre Assist (available from MY18 onwards) will actually stop u from hitting something, but only works at below a certain speed, i.e. parking speeds. It won't stop u when travelling at normal speeds on the roads.

What have you done to your Superb III today?

VCDS or ODBEleven or ???
I used to have VCDS at first. Used it for a couple of years, but sold it as I only had 3 car user license and wanted to help others with coding, but couldn't. 5 yrs ago I switched to OBDEleven Pro, with lifetime warranty. No yearly subscription. Being using it since then. I only do long coding or adaptations, no one touch apps. I can do the same things using OBDEleven that I could with VCDS. Very happy with it and no regrets. The one thing I miss from VCDS is that the CSV extracts of the admaps and blockmaps are much much better and easier to deal with. The OBDEleven extracts r hard to work with.

What have you done to your Superb III today?
Mk4 Superb is MQB EVO. Hence 5D is not applicable to mk3 Superb. Mk3 Superb (pre-facelift or facelift) is MQB (1st Gen). No point trying to fit a VC from a Mk4 Superb into a Mk3 Superb!

What have you done to your Superb III today?
5C is the latest anti-theft system. 5A is the old anti-theft system. 2015 to 2019 use the 5A anti-theft cockpit. 2015 to 2017 r MIB2 units, but can't connect to VC. 2018 to 2019 r MIB2.5 units. These can connect to VC with fiber optic. Superb produced after 2020 is classified 5C anti-theft. 5C is Ethernet based. Facelift uses MIB3 units. If the anti-theft system and the cockpit do not match - it won't work.

MY17 Superb Retrofitted with Direct TPMS
as per the earlier pages in this TPMS discussion topic - yes, tyre pressure for each tyre can b viewed on the infotainment screen as well as the dashboard screen (VC or analog). if u follow the coding and adaptation instructions correctly, u'll b good. u don't need VCP or ODIS for this part. u can use either VCDS or OBDEleven. with regards to swapping screens, i don't know about the MIB3 units. with pre-facelift Superb, it requires the MIB2 unit firmware to be updated to MIB2.5 firmware, during which the 8" screen is swapped out for the 9.2" screen. there was no need of coding the screen in this instance.

Bonnet alignment
That's wat happens when u switch from pre-facelt to facelift, keeping the same bonnet, but changing the bumper, grille and headlights. Ur going to get some slight variances.

MY17 Superb Retrofitted with Direct TPMS
Yes, I had indirect TPMS before, which uses the ABS wheel sensors to detect rotational speed of each wheel, then compares it to detect any differences, which would indicate a loss in pressure. My version of indirect TPMS would tell me which specific tyre is the issue. See image below. With the generator, yes, u can setup different sets of tyre sizes and select in the infotainment screen the appropriate set, based on what u have on the car. The generator creates a parameter file which can only b uploaded via VCP or ODIS. VCDS or OBDEleven cannot do this. Indirect TPMS.....
