  1. Thanks to some wise words from a smart friend, I changed Gandalf's PCV valve. There wasn't any issues with Gandalf, rather I replaced the PCV valve was as a preventative measure given Gandalf is 8 plus yrs old, and the various modifications over the years. I've heard the old AT version has been known to fail. As with new refreshed parts, car feels a bit more smoother under load/boost now. I previously thought it was a quirk of the Galano ECU/TCU tune, but the change of the PCV valve seems to have smoothed this out. Most likely placebo, but this a new and better revision of the PCV valve. Less problematic based on my research recently and the few techs I've spoken to. Old:- 06K 1034 95 AT New:- 06K 103 495 BM Removing the old and replacing with the new was fairly straightforward. Hardest part for me was removing the original crimp band clamp, holding the rubber hose to the PCV valve. When fitting the new, I replaced it with an OE spring band clamp - N90686701.
  2. Glad u got it sorted. With the cable into the armrest, yeah I just made a tiny hole in the very corner. U don't even see it with felt material and cable covering the hole. So all good.
  3. The interior alarm will only go off if the car is locked. I've jacked mine hundreds of times with the alarm not going off.
  4. The Kodiaq has the GSM antenna in the same location too - red arrow in pic below. so Superb should b similar too.
  5. @tombee - good to hear it worked out. I was about to reply saying that it was part of the AIO firmware. @Kosin - all the best with the upgrade.
  6. Fronts r 340 mm on the 280 actually. The front pads r different between the 312 mm and 340 mm front discs. The rear pads r the same with the 300 mm and 310 mm rear discs.
  7. my (mine is MY17 FWD 220 Superb with DQ250 gearbox) experience was good with APR ECU + TCU tunes. i previously had an APR Stage 1 Hi-Torque ECU tune + TCU tune. 221 kw 530 Nm at the wheels power. no issues. very smooth gear changes. i've since switched to Galano Stage 2 ECU + TCU tune. now it's doing 242 kw 520 Nm at the wheels. DQ250 is still behaving, though not as smooth as the APR TCU tune.
  8. Mine originally had a Columbus MIB2 unit from factory - took approx. 30 secs to b ready, i.e. NAV is ready. I've since converted it to a MIB2.5 (screen + firmware conversion) and now its ready within 5 secs!! Quick. Cold .... Hot .....same response.
  9. Out of curiosity.....wat r the chances of a MOT tester popping the bonnet open, reaching behind the Bi-Xenon headlight, removing the headlight cover and sticking his/her head inside to see if it's Xenon bulb or LED bulb? I don't live in the UK, hence I have no idea how ruthless or to wat extent they would go to uncover stuff. U can't tell the difference by "looking" at the headlight beam pattern as it will b the same between Xenon and LED bulbs. Unlike reflector headlights, u can't see the bulb inside the projector headlights, hence not obvious.
  10. I'm aware of a few owners who have switched from Xenon to LED bulbs, including myself. I made the switch 1.5 yrs ago - from Xenon D3S to LED D3S bulbs. I have a MY17 pre-facelift. I bought J.W. Speaker D3S LED bulbs - they're really good. No errors, no issues and the lighting is much better than the previous Xenons I had, Phillips XtremeVision Gen2, which were an upgrade from the factory Xenons. These LED bulbs have a built-in fan, which conveniently fits within the headlight cover at the back. Highly recommended. As for condensation build up - I hardly got that before. I haven't got it since.
  11. Thanks for the feedback. That's a shame about the Ottocast mini. I was contemplating, in the future, to "upgrade" to the Ottocast Mini, but given my family r Android users, and our existing AAWireless (Gen 1) have been faultless n haven't miss a beat - I'll leave it as is.
  12. Did my interim 6-monthly service for Gandalf today. But this time round I bought this gadget which made filling the engine with new oil so much easier and far more precise (measurement). It holds up to 1.5L Highly recommend it for those who perform their own oil changes. Link to the product here.
  13. Lol, that would indeed b next level cleaning!! Objective was to rotate the tyres, front to rear, rear to front. So while I was at, it was a good chance to give the inside of the rims a good scrub n a clean.
  14. That time of the year for me to do the Interim 6-month service. Oil change and tyre clean (inside) & rotation 🙂
  15. Charger - yes. Data - no. The MIB2 unit in ur car is not able to talk with USB-C ports.
  16. Yup, I have that cable running into the inside of the armrest storage. I can then put my phone on charge for those long trips. My Superb didn't have the additional USB port inside the armrest storage - so this was my workaround. The 90-deg cable allows me to keep that rear compartment storage closed. The front USB port is occupied by my AAWireless device, which allows me to use Android Auto wirelessly.
  17. @26DIPP - I replaced the rear 12v power socket with a 12v USB Quick Charge socket. The front 12v socket will b similar. Link to the 12v USB socket I bought. Link to the 90-deg USB cable.
  18. Ur NOT reading his or my posts properly at all !!!
  19. Some pics (not my car) below of the cable pass through. Shows u how it looks like, from both sides. Good luck with the install. Thanks. Merry Xmas & a Happy New Year to u too. Inside... Engine bay side....
  20. It's a known issue with the AWD Superb, unfortunately. Due to the AWD drive line through the tunnel, the tank is "split" on either side. Sometimes the fuel doesn't get balanced or transferred between the two, causing fuel to prematurely run out, despite hundreds of KMs Range left. I don't know wat the fix is, sorry. FWD Superb don't have this issue.
  21. Before & After I caught up with a fellow forum member today - seeing his car (MY18) took me back to 8 yrs ago when I picked up Gandalf (MY17). Original factory look. Both 162TSi Business Grey Lift back with Tech & Comfort packs.
  22. Both high beam and low beam will swivel with AFS, regardless of foglights being on/off. In ECO driver profile mode, AFS (adaptive lighting) is disabled.
  23. The speaker wire on the sub (in the boot) is very weak/fragile and is known to break. Likely urs has a broken wire too and needs to b resoldered.
  24. Only the facelift Superb uses that triangular lighting bit. Pre-facelift uses the foglights for low speed Cornering Light function.
  25. All mk3 Superb Bi-Xenon headlights have AFS 2, which swivels the low beam left/right during cornering. It also changes the length & width of the beam depending on the driving environment (urban, highway, rain etc. etc.) In addition, if enabled, the foglights also have Cornering Light function, which lights up the ground directly in front of the car, during low cornering speeds. With the built-in sunshades (blinds), it depends on the market and options. Mine has the rear window shades, but not the rear hatch shade.
