  1. There are only two pressurised boost pipes, one from the turbo to the intercooler and the other from the intercooler to the inlet plenum on the engine so you only have four joints to test, don't use your eyes, grab the pipe and pull it hard near each joint, any movement means a leaky joint.
  2. If it's a daily I definitely wouldn't, but as ever it's your money and your risk, for some reason @Ootohere is always trying to persuade people to do whatever he wants them to do, he has some kind of guru complex with twinchargers and craves the attention whereas I come from a more general tuning background and these engines and gearboxes have a deserved reputation for fragility. Your call.
  3. I doubt it, if you've already wasted eighteen months trying to arrive at a conclusion this load of old guff won't make any difference, twinchargers are unreliable and the DSG gearbox is even worse. I wouldn't touch it if it's working ok, if you wanna go faster then buy a different car!
  4. You won't get one new, you need to find an Elegance in a breakers or look on eBay. I have one fitted to mine but my Comfort had an open bin which is much more commonplace, I don't really use mine as it's not a very useful size internally.
  5. SMIC means Side Mount InterCooler which draws air through the wheelarch, not the bumper, that's a FMIC you're both thinking of.
  6. Open the window, release the door stay and the rubber boot from the A pillar, you can then unplug the wiring loom, there are a few colour coded plugs so you can't go wrong, after that get someone to support the weight of the door while you undo the hinges and remove it.
  7. Repair the wire in the rubber boot that is broken, use an auto electrician if you're no good at electrics!
  8. You won't have any problems, the ABS works off wheel speed so if you lock up with your massively oversized brakes it will still perform properly.
  9. The entire top mount, spring and bearing assembly is held on by the Nyloc nut screwed on to the damper rod, 19mm hex from memory.
  10. Only RM, PF and UPS use retained drivers, the rest are pseudo self-employed drivers on a piecework rate who simply skip time consuming drops and return the package to the depot, once the package has 'bounced' a few times it gets RTC.
  11. Not just up norf, Evri and Yodel are more than capable of ****ing any delivery up, anywhere!
  12. Apart from being 25mm lower and on Audi pepperpot alloys you wouldn't know.
  13. Mines a been a little 'upgraded' because I'm not such an easy going driver.
  14. Obviously lots of very short journeys, no amount of servicing will really help offset the damage from never getting properly hot but replace oil and filter due to condensation contamination and spark plugs because modern engines eat them, anything else is really a waste of money but try and persuade your mum to run the car on premium grade petrol only as this will help keep the fuel and exhaust system clean and reduce any pinking on light throttle openings.
  15. That's what happens when an idiot uses a 6mm Allen key instead of 7mm.
  16. The handbrake is bolted to the bodyshell which is all earthed so any bolt or fixing down there will be an earth, even just firing a self-tapper in is an earth.
  17. It should, however if you want to make it easy simply remove the ribbed silicone rubber seal, grease up the plug with some vaseline to repel moisture and snap it into place.
  18. You need to remove the starter motor IIRC, not a nice job at all.
  19. Cracked software won't do it, buy a licence dude!
  20. That's the horn, I wouldn't worry about it as long as it works.
