  1. Very good, peak power at 7000, peak torque at 5750 giving a working power band of 1250 rpm. Does it still idle ok or did you have to increase idle speed?
  2. Good for you, it would be nice if you could post a picture of the Dyno chart so others can see the RPM you needed to spin for that result.
  3. From Skoda, if they have any left.
  4. In that case there are broken wires in the driver's door bellows. To repair the heated seat you must take it to pieces and replace the element under the cover of the seat squab.
  5. Drivers seat element is broken, you could try repairing it but it's probably not worth the agro. Drivers door latch needs replacing or the wiring in the driver's door bellows is damaged. Try turning the key in the driver's door lock and holding it clockwise, both front windows should open, turn and hold the key the other way and they should both close. If so replace the drivers side window switch. If not another wiring fault awaits. Finally, the headlamp switch may be faulty but first examine the fog light bulbs for signs of failure, muppets tend to drive around with them on all the time and they overheat and blow.
  6. It looks like the boot is split, you'll need to get under there and check using your hands, not just your eyes.
  7. You can start by seeing if it's still on the road by running an MOT check. No point in stalking it if some wally spanked it and wrote it off.
  8. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/274753814954?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=b8zpP4-nQH2&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=_BlMq7ebT3O&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY I wouldn't call that expensive.
  9. There have been reports of cats getting very hot on the 1.2 engine before, it is generally caused by leaking exhaust valves, unfortunately this doesn't end well so I suggest you get as much use as possible out of the car. Try buying a secondhand manicat to replace yours.
  10. Return hose is not under much pressure so yes, you can chop it about to seal it up.
  11. Love them, they're brilliant with the EBC pads, much more powerful.
  12. I thought it was "pink steel" that was the problem for us older fellas! 😅
  13. I hate to rain on your parade but a laptop will not tell you where you have a coolant leak, however the chances are it's the radiator bottom left corner which corrodes and eventually pinholes, that or headlift.
  14. The procedure is engine dependant, not vehicle dependant so the Golf instructions will be fine. 10NM is very low and many Fisher-Price torque wrenches used by amateurs don't go that low, this is often why the covers end up distorted.
  15. So you're supposed to change the pads every two years or 24k, not fanny about tickling them indefinitely to pinch a couple of bob. Case closed!
  16. Since it's only on 83k, I'd leave it another year, timing chains don't age like belts do so it only really comes down to mileage and service history, if the oil's been changed on schedule up until now then there's no reason to think the chain will be excessively worn.
  17. It isn't an issue, a few bent fins are neither here nor there.
  18. Interior lights are not testable.
  19. You're like a terrier with a bone dude, sometimes you just have to let go. There is no car I know of that's completely reliable at ten years old. It's why they depreciate!
  20. Chains are more labour intensive than belts, they usually need the sump dropped which means oil and filter as well, the parts are also more expensive because the sprockets have to be replaced along with all the tensioner components. It could easily run to a grand at main dealer prices with the vodka and tonic.
  21. They can't give you a time because it isn't a recognised service task and it will not therefore appear in their labour database. Don't be surprised if they recommend replacement before putting it all back together!
  22. I thought it was a 1.2 TSI. Obviously. He didn't say and I didn't think to fire up the background check in his profile, I object to doing detective work to answer somebody's question. It still has a chain though...
  23. Why, are you looking to breed them?
  24. I think yours is the earlier engine with a timing chain, the CBZB engine? If so I'd get a chain kit fitted for peace of mind.
