  1. I would start by replacing the ECT sensor since it seems there's a loose correlation with engine temperature. Straight faces please chaps, no banter, the fun police are lurking!
  2. Shrinkwrap it and stick it in a dry barn for another ten years if you're wanting telephone numbers for it.
  3. ...don't forget the Corsa VXR, some really mindless muppets out there in those. The thing I find fascinating is that all they do is chase huge numbers which makes the car effectively undriveable, so they're not really driving enthusiasts at all, just silly show offs.
  4. "You're always gonna have problems lifting a body in one piece. Apparently, the best thing to do is cut up a corpse into six pieces and pile it all together."
  5. Don't worry, I was teasing, it is a bit like telling us the colour though...
  6. OMG, why even mention trim levels in relation to a mechanical fault! Who cares if it's wearing lacy knickers or plain Janes! I think my advice may still be relevant then.
  7. Intermittent issues are nearly always electrical, having said that you have a Fabia Mk 3 and this is the Fabia Mk 2 forum.
  8. Dude, if you put the word 'resistor' in the search you can select that it only search the Fabia 1 forum using a drop down box. Internets 101 guys. Come on.
  9. You can fix it, you need a new fan speed resistor pack, it's been covered on here many, many, many times so just do a search for the 'how to' guide.
  10. PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) is Teflon, it's DuPonts brand name for it because they invented it.
  11. It's not the same product, there's no Teflon in it any more, it's just another generic product making outrageous hard-to-disprove claims using chemicals that will already be in the additive pack in your oil. Because moar is betterer.
  12. It was terrible, it clogged the oil squirter jets found on many high performance engines and caused little end failure, I had a VW KR 16V engine that had failed due to Teflon jet clogging. Horrible 1970's crap they kept flogging until it started killing too many engines whereupon it was hastily withdrawn from sale.
  13. Mind you, I do have some purple grease, it's Silkolene waterproof stuff and it smells a bit like Germolene used to.
  14. Bright purple with lime green spots is a no-no.
  15. It's what credit cards are for.
  16. Of course, just bear in mind it won't like steep hills and could stall under heavy load.
  17. I think it's probably the clutch plate cush springs rattling, it's really not worth worrying about unless you're determined to replace the clutch at that mileage. Personally I wouldn't bother, I'd live with it.
  18. As I always say at worst these things are just a waste of money, they generally don't do any harm @Stewartasb so as long as you're happy then I'm happy.
  19. Some companies will sell ANYTHING they can make a buck on, hence my comment about fools and their money. You forget I'm old school, so I remember the days when some additives were actually useful and K&N filters really did make your car faster. Nowadays engines are actually built to such close tolerances that even the laborious blueprinting process of yore no longer yield measurable improvements.
  20. A coughing fit maybe, modern oils already have complex additive packs, they didn't used to so additive manufacturers sprang up to fill the void, and their pockets. In the bad old days oils were terrible, engines were strangled by bad design and the aftermarket had a real role, nowadays notsomuch. In what world do you imagine that the R&D laboratories of multinational oil companies are somehow inferior to the snake oil merchants who actually spend all their money on MARKETING and not research!
  21. A noise like that is likely coming from the auxiliary belt, possibly the tensioner or alternator pulley.
  22. The wiring in the rubber door bellows is damaged and must be repaired.
  23. Blimey, don't use graphite oil or grease then, it's already black when it's new! Engineers like me don't have 'feelings' about engines, however many owners do, they react by instinct rather than reason, snake oil salesmen love emotionally involved owners!
