  1. Christ it's been a few years since we had that cluster of muppets on here...
  2. For a little extra I'd replace the lot, rears are so easy to fit, last time I did one I just put an Eibach set on it, top quality springs, 25mm lower, much improved roadholding, I seem to remember it was about a hundred for all four although that was a few years ago now, well worth replacing the front shocks at the same time.
  3. I'm glad you're happy, all's well that ends well.
  4. Yes, you simply need to reset the windows, when this happened to mine I activated the full open function, then full closure using the key in the drivers door lock, once you've done that the sense should be restored.
  5. Dude, seriously, buy the right size, there's a list in the handbook with the correct tyre pressures. The car is a Polo under the skin, not a Golf.
  6. Crikey, prehistoric tyres in completely the wrong size, bargain!
  7. My A3 pepperpots came with that size fitted, I had to replace the whole lot with 195 50 15 because they were much too big.
  8. They'll be an old set for a Golf or an A3 that you can't buy any more.
  9. Believe it, you're the first, get stuck in and keep us up to speed.
  10. Yes, I replaced both at the same time because they're plastic nonsense and would both have completed exactly the same number of cycles, if one had failed the other was about do the same. MTBF people. Master was trickier to do.
  11. I didn't bother lowering the tyre pressure, I just connected it straight to the OSF tyre, I ignore all that sort of legal guff and make my own decisions about things.
  12. I'm afraid I find the Mk2 ugly compared to the classy lines of the Mk1, the Mk3 looks ok but is very boxy and anodyne by comparison. But I'm not really a 'visual' aesthete.
  13. I think all the small petrol engines have the same slave, even my 2.0 looks the same as that, I replaced master and slave on my 1.4 16V and the parts were generic, I seem to remember using Sachs parts and I needed an eezibleed to get all the air out.
  14. It's part of the water pump apparently, not the compressor.
  15. No, they're much too tall, 185/65/14 would be ok, guessing you've been offered tyres from the more plentiful Golf based platforms out there, you're only about the millionth person to think of this. They'll rub.
  16. Good job dude, he's here seeking peer approval, I drive cars, I don't spend my time staring longingly at them, from where I sit how the car looks is completely irrelevant.
  17. I was teasing, it was banter, come on, you don't need a dumb emoji to tell you when a post is obviously tongue in cheek! I personally hate all the stupid safety police posts on here, we have real police to take care of rule breaking, if the OP gets a tug for incorrect number plate guff then that's his problem.
  18. Probably nothing but it's important to remember that a PCM is NOT like a smartphone, the firmware it comes with was designed to last the life of the car.
  19. No, leave the ECU firmware alone, you'd have to go ask a dealer to change it so you don't need to worry about it.
  20. You're in a bad way, it's just a car dude. Girls aren't interested, only boys are.
  21. Glycol oxidises pretty rapidly and in extreme dilution would be non-toxic and undetectable after a few days, the oxidative breakdown products are mildly acidic but again, in dilution would be harmless. Any danger generally comes from wildlife lapping at spills which are not cleared up.
  22. I've replaced everything that wears or breaks, why spend £25 when you've already got all the bits on the shelf. Also I don't need to remove the wiring loom and break all those plastic clips and the speaker mount, rivets turned up today so I'll get it remounted next weekend.
  23. Blimey, that's like a Betamax or VHS question!
