  1. Flushing the unseen internals of an engine is more a reflection of the inner state of the owners mind than the engine, cars don't suffer with OCD after all. Engine oil goes black because of carbon build up from combustion gases, not from dirt!
  2. Nobody should use flushing oil, it's a solution looking for a problem. There is no flow through hydraulic lifters, they have a small hole through which pressurised oil passes to pump up the lifter, once the lifter is pumped up it doesn't drain down unless the engine is stopped for an extended period and the two valve springs which are compressed gradually empty their respective lifters. This is what has happened, the OP should simply service the car because he hasn't bothered and the lifter will quieten with regular use. Like I said, nothing to worry about.
  3. Ok, well now that you've put the wind up him you'd better tell him what to do about it. Good luck.
  4. I'm afraid that's how the 1.4 8V is, the engine is a very old design and the camchain is renowned for getting a rattle on, luckily it's nothing to worry about, wait and see what fault codes return.
  5. Blimey, that's a LOT of lip-gloss!
  6. You should probably see a doctor if your wee is red!
  7. I'm not sorry to see the demise of the Fabia as the chavs car de jour, the trouble we used to get on here from those closeted manbabies! It's a shame that modern tackle is getting so anodyne and unreliable, I'm pretty much certain that my next car will be a 'classic' from the 90's before diesels took over and ruined petrol heads fun.
  8. It's liturgical music from the 17th century repurposed as wedding music in the 21st. Trite guff. You want dynamic range then you need orchestral, preferably symphonic music. But then why would you listen to it in the worst possible sonic environment like a moving car.
  9. It won't help, these cars are getting too bloody old now, it's like an archaeological dig every time something needs fixing.
  10. Classical music for people who don't like classical music. Guff.
  11. Modern diesels all have ASV's to prevent running on.
  12. Blimey, you've taken the lock off but left the loom in situ, it's very easy to remove the loom from the door and it's a good opportunity to inspect and repair any damage hidden in the rubber bellows.
  13. Ok, I took the panel off a week ago, it's still in the back of the car, I must have forgotten about them, my bad. It was my intention to refit it all this weekend but strong winds and heavy rain put the kibosh on that.
  14. There aren't any screws at the bottom, only in the arm rest.
  15. The door card should come off OK, the door seals sit against the door frame not the card, remove all the screws then pull it really hard in the bottom corner to get the clips to release, make sure the window is down, work your way round and lift the card to clear the window sill.
  16. You'll have to get the door card off, you have no choice.
  17. It's not necessary, the inner skin is stainless and will last the life of the car, all Fabias do this and it's nothing to worry about.
  18. It guesses, however if your car is fixed then that's good enough, you don't need an app to tell you it's fixed.
  19. It's not that you're using it, it's that you're trusting it to know stuff it can't possibly know!
  20. I give up, based on what you say I'm quite certain it's nothing to do with the steering rack or the track rods which begs the question, why are you looking at the steering gear if you already know everything?
  21. Ok, it's a CV joint in all likelihood since it happens in both directions.
  22. No, it can't be them, it'll be the back end, not the front, check the back brakes aren't binding.
  23. How in the hell would your smartphone know how much CO2 was coming out of your cars exhaust? Aren't you embarrassed at how stupid that app is?
  24. Yes, it's a bloody horrible job, everything plastic just seems to crumble to dust, I even had to remove the door lock just to replace the arm for the pop up button, the lock plug locking tag snapped when I tried to refit it, it's just fighting me every step of the way.
