  1. It is interesting, however, the longer the wavelength the less the effect on night vision, red lighting has almost no effect at all.
  2. Replace the coolant temperature sensor for starters, it's cheap, quick and easy to do, just unplug it for now and try starting it.
  3. Absolutely, impossible to do it properly without removing it.
  4. Dude, gotta know what engine it is, can't help by guessing.
  5. My bumper doesn't have that trim it has a different colour matched trim and the sensor mounting holes are moulded into the bumper. Factory fitted reversing sensors are fairly rare on Mark 1's I'm told, they were probably an expensive option.
  6. If they sit flush with the wheel arch they'll hit it under full compression.
  7. Yet another thing I'd like to pull the fuse on but I don't there's a separate fuse for it.
  8. My guess is it's a useless amp, a fiver including delivery isn't very encouraging when you get what you pay for but try swapping out the aerial first, although a sharkfin will be even worse for reception strength.
  9. Christ, you can have mine, the beeping drives me nuts! Joking apart, my bumper is different to accommodate the sensors but the crash bar is the same, unfortunately there's no switch on the dash to turn it off otherwise I would.
  10. It's impossible to imagine a scenario where the aerial cable has been damaged so I'd check the the new amp and the aerial itself if I were you.
  11. Where did you get the amp from?
  12. I've no experience carrying a bike on a Fabia Mk2 so I've limited my contribution to trying to help the OP get a coherent answer to his question rather than completely burying the thread in whatever it is that you want to talk about. Incidentally the Mk1 VRS is not approved for towing either.
  13. Just a reminder of the OP's original question before the pointless tangent buried it...
  14. So that's where you learned how to do it!
  15. That cheap coil will be no good, buy a branded unit, I learnt the hard way and eventually bought a Delphi unit which wasn't much more expensive. Live and learn.
  16. It's connected correctly, I thought you'd have realised that from my reply.
  17. You should check for leaks in the vacuum hoses.
  18. The valve guides and stem seals will wear out first which means oil consumption, cat damage and emissions test failure.
  19. Blimey, I'd be amazed if it's the original engine, especially on LPG.
  20. Don't listen to it, some things cannot be unheard
  21. So is that "yes it won't do 220k" or "no it won't do 220k"?
  22. It's not rocket science, it's the reason your smartphone screen changes colour at night so it reduces the daylight stimulation of your vision system and helps you get to sleep easier.
  23. Blue light actually reduces the effectiveness of your night vision and means that the lights then need to be brighter than they would be if they were yellow, it's why they used yellow headlights in Europe for so many years.
  24. Yes it is, I've been here more than ten years, you can't make the stupid noises with the standard system, you have to either fit a noisy system like the Miltek or a straight pipe from the turbo back. Easiest of all, buy a petrol car with a hard cut rev limiter which cuts the spark but continues to inject fuel, pops, bangs and flames just like a real rally car.
