  1. did mine at 7 years with 69k also the haldex -- maybe i was lucky!!!
  2. My garage here a la frog, a vw indy, agreed to fit belt, water pump etc but stated there would be no guarantee on the work, i accepted those terms and, so far have had no probs, and my mileage is now increasing after restrictions lifted here!
  3. With the headlights switched on and the ignition on, the h/lights /sidelights work, take the key out and that kills the lights, conversely if only the sidelights are on with the ignition switched on, when the key is removed the sidelights stay on but the car beeps to draw attention to the fact that the sidelights are still on! -- go on, give it a whizz!
  4. On my amundsen +, i realise not the same beast, I can turn the radio volume down to zero, but before that when the voice gives out directions i can increase that volume or lower it, can you not do similar with your setup?
  5. 2^ Thank you M Macron for my recently restored late night freedoms
  6. Sandisk now do a small footprint 128gb usb thing - think its called a cruzer - works very well in a cheapo radio fitted in my kit car, it also is quite compact - sorry about the photo quality!!
  7. My car beeps at me when only the side lights are left switched on when the ignition is turned off and the key removed, when the headlights are left on switching the ignition off and removing the key kills all lights left switched on!
  8. The 2 items above your head could be movement sensors for the alarm system!
  9. wouldn't go amiss, it will clean up the disc surfaces
  10. I did mine 'in house' earlier this year, my local independant tried to assure me it didn't need anything doing apart from an oil change, info via a Skoda dealership some distance away. I had been trying to get it done round and about, always the same response, so as above I did it,68k and 7 years, first time it had been done, filter a little clogged, oil black, Haldex 4 , after having done it a trial on a local beach confirmed the system still works, sand thrown up by all wheels! I think I will again be doing it myself next time, although I might by that time have my harp and wings!!
  11. no, the display is just small kms/hr at the bottom of the screen - for large mph --australia, but no easy chance to reprog to a large kms/hr
  12. ^ but is your car british supplied or european?
  13. its the adjacent tree!! :-()
  14. Its a complete disc inc the black plastic backing, you'll need to get the black plastic thing off, do a search on here, suggestions have been made, if you have some dental floss that might work - note there are 2 mounting lugs horizontally across the diameter
  15. ^ Yeah, Whisky -- it reduces the effectiveness of my brain!! ;-))
  16. I used an over filled 50ml syringe with some tube, worked fine!
  17. +1 ^
  18. Ok, my problem obviously was slight ingress of water into the box, just driven 15 miles with lots of gear changes, no problems, I'll reopen the box and run a smear of silicone grease around the joints - that should hopefully waterproof the box contents!! Should have adhered to my longtime mantra, 'Keep it simple stupid' otherwise known as the KISS principle!!
  19. Thanks, yes it does, I disconnected it before lunch , plugged the over ride plug in, went for a drive all ok, no error messages. opened up the box, traces of water droplets on the inside, dried it out, just about to go for a run with it reconnected as it could be the droplets shorting something under the 'chips' or it could be the box is knacked
  20. Tried it this morning, still the same if not worse, attached the vcds log - any suggestions? - replace low pressure sensor? 21. What/where is the MAF plug? Just opened the fuel filter canister, its clean, as is the filter element, reassembled it, primed the cannister as recommended, still the same. No carista message or VCDS message either, looks like a short trip is due! - then a rescan!
  22. ^ could be, just looked at old service sheets/bills, last done 2019 58k now done 71k with service in april - seems unlikely, but i'll have a look tomorrow!
  23. As above, the engine continues to run but stops on occaision, vcds indicates low pressure on the fuel rail, had this previously over the winter but it seemed to clear itself, the info at that time was a low pressure pump or valve proble, can't remember which, Anyone any suggestions, its a 2 litre 140(up to 168) diesel with a dtuk box fitted - I will try again tomorrow with the box removed! Where is this item(valve/pump) on the engine?
  24. Do a youtube search either on a mk5 golf or yeti there is one on there ,it shows how to do it, location etc you will probably have to take the disc off for better access, I got away with with cleaning it all(but i changed the discs at the same time), -- its magnetic.
