  1. might the temp gauge just be the sensor? thats a really common fault item and from i remember has 2 outputs - 1 for engine, 1 for dash. its not uncommon for only 1 "side" to fail, so the ecu is getting better data, thus no odd driving issues.
  2. just put decent layer compacted CL804 and a sheet of dpc under it, and the concrete wont suffer any damp.
  3. that looks clean and straight. and that boot will inhale stuff. as for the engine, its as near bullet proof as you can get. my old pre - pd 1.9tdi ALH (90bhp) never skipped a beat. everything else around was aging and dying at a much faster rate. i reckon you could literally shoot those blocks with a .50cal and it would just sputter a bit for a second or two like it was knocked off balance, before continuing on...
  4. well, that will be in breach of EU right to repair laws, so they can take that idea and shove it up their exhaust pipe...
  5. see, there was, before they added 4 more sizes of suv and had to inflate the santafe again.. it just doesnt need to be so ugly. its not going to age well imo.
  6. thread revival.. ive seen our local hyundai dealer's new 2024 Santa fe out on test drive. i think they let the boss's 5yr old son lead the design team... it somehow looks even worse and more boxy in real life. think 1997 Grand Cherokee boxy..
  7. want to read something sick? looking at possibly changing missus macs 2020 Arona, and looking around the list price on a new one, auto, top spec to match what she has - list price about €32k a TRoc in the same spec - €50k 50 grand for their smallest "crossover"..
  8. i had to go to Dublin today, to our main HQ. I hate having to go up there. but, the trip does mean i now get to play ALL the rounds of the game! good bye Connect Hello Shiny new Courier. You have a flat, fat face, but a nicer cockpit.. lowest delivery odo i think i ever seen! and so, Round 1!!
  9. Im surprised there hasnt been a thread on this already? that Ive seen any way. what were Ford thinking when they decided to once again decided to use an historically beloved model name for a frickin EV SUV?? The big fat Mustang Mach E was bad, but now they gone and made a "Capri" crossover EV that has none of the original styling or even barely a nod to it. https://www.carwow.co.uk/ford/news/7748/new-ford-capri-electric-suv-price-specs#gref
  10. citigo/mii/up! are all ideal learner cars in my opinion. easy to drive, easy to park, cheap running costs, plenty adjustability in the seats and, if that way inclined nippy without being able to get yourself into too much trouble. my mother is 5ft tall on a good day and drives with a small cushion on the seat. currently in an insignia (im trying to convince her get rid before it explodes) previous car was an auris. she doesnt have too difficultly. mother in law has a mazda 2, also quite a short lady and its fine
  11. Guess what I missed in the work can due to being on the bloody motorway... on the plus side, max 6months and it'll be getting swapped out on the fleet replacement. new ones seem to brand new Couriers instead of Connects. load bay is roughly the same size in both, but the courier has a flatter face. looks like a Fiat Doplo actually..
  12. Did he sell it?! he kinda drifted away from here to FB Brisky..
  13. its so lovely to still see some of these being kept in such good condition. when i joined back in 2012, with my first mk1 (1.9 ALH Diesel) i loved what the crew then were doing with their vrs's. Billy's black one right up until he gave up and scrapped it was mint 😞 Mark's (Bowders1) was stunning and rapid. and of course the lowest milage mk1 in existence - Lloyd55's corrida red that he couldnt stop doing things to, other than drive feckin thing there was a couple of others too at least one banana yellow that was a sleeping demon. keep it up @dubDEAN she's looking gorgeous
  14. i would imagine the load rating would be different on the Roomster to the fabia? given its a heavier vehicle? like the age old golf suspension fits an octy but it wont sit or ride quite right?
  15. keep me posted so I can make sure to get mine done the same way
  16. I saw one of these briefly earlier today. it does look pretty good. im just not convinced yet about byd as a brand... a stupid number of their "sales" are parked in fields in china to get the grant money. and werent they effectively kicked out of the European market a couple of yrs ago as their ncap testing was utterly abysmal? i kinda hope they prove me wrong though! better looking than teslas and no money going to elon...
  17. pretty syre there was only Black Magic available as a black option. 15 extra bhp if it was on a VRS you get an extra 5 with the diesels like my one was.
  18. what do you mean by sunscreen? the fold down visor? that is attached inside the car.m, as per Dean's post above
  19. that Allroad you saw being dropped into the grass isnt surprising, old A4s and and passats dragging their sills around the road are common here too. i reckon the roaring exhaust noise is actually the car screaming from the pain of dragging their undertrays along the road, and the diesel soot is it metaphorically coughing up blood. jettas are also common place, i saw one the other day dropped so low and wheels so big the owner had cut notches out of the wheel arches to stop the tyres rubbing... i dont mind cars being modded, but christ do it tastefully and make it worthwhile. its almost a shame though that these cars are now within the budget of young lads with no taste and wanting to look cool with a filthy agri spec saloon...
  20. Hi, Im not even in the same country, but Im quite sure if you do a little search in here you dont need vagcom or vcds to programme a new key for the mk1, if you have 1 good key already. from memory, put the good key in and the ignition on, open the drivers window. put the new key in the outside of the drivers door and lock/ unlock the doors. i think you have to hold it in position for a length of of time that i cant remember, and might be another step, but its easy enough to do.
  21. yup. if its intermittent though, get the wheels off and check the connectors of the wear sensors.
  22. age isnt much of an issue with the mogs. the ones our lads have are fairly old too, but a good overhaul and they'll put out savage torque and power
  23. 2 of our plant hire contractors have them fitted for rail mounting and with one pulling and one pushing for brakes can haul over 500 Tonnes of ballast across 8 tipping rail trailers. unimogs are brilliant.
  24. Any photos @skomaz? is it a fairly new one, or reckon its older stock? 110bhp from 1litre even with a turbo (our arona is 115 allegedly) just feels like its not enough displacement to not be running engine more strained than it needs to be. but thats just my opinion. at least the ibiza is lighter!
  25. i considered suggesting a panda but then swapped to the 209, thought the panda might a bit "big" in the corsa bracket. hire companies are weird about how they size cars..
