Buying advice - 1.8 TSI
Welcome. The horror stories are because of the actual issues. Best find one that has failed and had all the money spent getting the engine sorted. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/481724-18tsi-engine-problems

Skoda Octavia ChipTuning
That is the first figures achieved with a 1.5 TSI ACT i have seen. What gear was he using? Best leave the plugs for now and see that there are no hicups. ECP or EML coming on. Ignition Coil removal tool required rather than being hashy / red neck. Your tuner will have one.

No Warranty after the Remap is done. What anyone says on an Airfilter means nothing, especially since they have no idea where the vehicle might be used, as all that matters is it is clean / fresh. I would have at least looked at the spark plugs but since out changed them a few hundred miles before a remap. Try Tesco Momentum 99. We get good stuff in Scotland. 99 minimum. it can be 100 / 100+.

Error: Auto Hold / Error: Hill Start Assist
@CraigsterThere is no need to accept or live with that, you have a manufacturers warranty and that is a fault. Best have them get someone competent to resole the issue while you have a warranty, out of warranty you do not want landed with the bills if you own the car.

Skoda Octavia ChipTuning
@VladyWho is doing the remap on the 1.5 TSI ACT and a DQ200 DSG, is it http://ecotune-scotland.co.uk Have you fitted new spark plugs & an Air filter before it gets done and are you running the car on Super Unleaded E5? Guessing that your car is a keeper you could have a big future bill coming up getting the Cam Belt done even if not at 5 years and later. Having a warranty valid on a 1.5 TSI ACT with a DSG is a good idea IMO. (Is your Karoq is a FWD & not an AWD?) The same Karoq as here? http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/507580-dsg-7-dry

MK3 Octavia 1.0 TSI emissions
The car was factory ready for 95 Octane E5 or E10. But if you are in the UK you were not using E10 before September 2021. Last winter your E10 being sold might not have had 10% Ethanol in it, this winter maybe not either. For an extra £3 or less to put in a tank of E5 it is worth a try since other having misfire issues this winter have felt the benefit. The Petrol on sale in the UK just now since late October until March is Winter Formulation which should make no difference to how a TSI runs, maybe even having them run better. There are mentions that they are not though, but then that might just be a coincidence and nothing to do with E10. A higher octane can reduce emissions and not just with a GTI / R VW engine. http://volkswagen.co.uk/en/need-help/need-help-faqs/fuel.html 388380a097b04fe693a8c27db8bb4974 (1).pdf 6ca06d648b9541e78fa838fece4a1a23 (1).pdf

MK3 Octavia 1.0 TSI emissions
Fill the tank with E5 97 or 99 ron minimum and see how things are if you are using E10. Is the Air Filter clean / fresh, replaced, and has it had new Spark Plugs? Well due new plugs if not already replaced. EDIT. Sorry i was repeating myself. But it still applies. It is the basic stuff to do before going deeper into looking at issues. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/510887-10-tsi-cold-start-juddering

AWD Oil Change and maintaining warranty
Re the Manufacturers Warranty. The car has to be serviced to the Manufacturers Recommendation, Guidelines, Schedule or Specifications using the factory parts, fluids etc, (The term Schedule does not appear. Not VAT Registered, it changes what is in the T&C's over the years, it used to be 'guidance', at one point 'Specification'.) record kept, VAT registered place etc. So what ever terms they use. Pity a Main Dealership does not know the Recommendations, Guidelines, Schedule or Specifications and often who not to service a Haldex properly. They even sell Skoda Approved Used cars with a FMDSH but not serviced as per recommendations, guidelines, schedule or specifications and they put a warranty on them. ? Is the car a keeper? If so decide what you want and are you extending the warranty beyond 3 years? Read the T&C.s. SKODA_Warranty_Terms_November_2021 (1).pdf

AWD Oil Change and maintaining warranty
? Is your car going in for it's first service including pollen filter change, or was it serviced last year on a Fixed Service Regime? Did they not include the AC as being due a service as well? They must be slipping on up-selling! The Haldex Oil change and if done properly, clean out is due at 3 years / 30,000 miles. *VAQ Diff oil changes, Front Diff non Haldex Octavia vRS are now at 2 years / 20,000 miles. they were at 3 years / 30,000 miles.* Maybe that is an error from whoever contacted you. When that time comes not just allow them to just do an oil change and not a proper service of the haldex. They should know the job, what a shame so many do not. ? What HQ were you chatting to, Skoda Customer Services? They would know little about very much. They might not even be in the UK if you are chatting to Skoda Customer Services. Plenty cars like yours are on private plates.

Cam belts.
@Grumpy Geaser Is that Henrys quoting that. The 1.0 TSI is not difficult but needs the tool and care taken as with anything. Those with 1.5 TSI ACT as now available in the Mk4 Fabia are getting a shock at the cost of the Cam belt change. As can be seen in the Karoq and Mk3 Octavia sections where there are members with 5 year old cars.

the truth about electric cars
Local driver with their local car. Personal Plate. Notes on windows means nothing when dealing with the Ignorant. There are Council Employees like the one with the Van parked behind the chargers that has had the van plugged in for weeks at this charger and the charging hub out of town beside the Council HQ where they have chargers only 100 meters from the Public Chargers. I sent emails to the council when they do. The parking wardens were putting tickets on Ev's that were in a bay even when the Chargers went faulty and went to a red light, but they stopped doing that. A local business person with their Merc Hybrid SUV had tickets from that time. Maybe they have gone full EV now. 'Police Aware' would be a joke as they are hogging public chargers in some areas of Scotland since Police Scotland got EV's but not the chargers. Not in Angus.. http://dailyrecord.co.uk/news/politics/police-stations-across-scotland-given-27745262 ................. The White Renault Van has sat dumped plugged into 7kW Chargers for days & weeks at a time, that was during covid and since. In the car park the Red Leaf was there that long it had to be recovered and was a high risk due to the damp interior / mould. Bottom pic is where the Council has charging for their vehicles without needing to occupy ones that are all the public have to use.

Karoq cam belt change - start saving now !
The last Shale Bings near the Queensferry crossing look like Ayres Rock to me. Not that i have been near Ayres Rock / Uluru. I have been near Bass Rock but still on the main land.

Karoq cam belt change - start saving now !
Simple enough then. Get Skoda / VW Group approved repairers or Skoda UK Customer Services to confirm in writing that is the Recommendation, Guidelines or Schedule they are going with. Then you take your pick on what you want to do as you run your 5 year and older 1.5 TSI ACT 150 ps vehicle in the UK.

the truth about electric cars
I have never seen this Merc actually getting charged. It is there lots plugged & locked in and not charging. Never seen it arrive and getting plugged in or been there when the driver returns, i see it blocking the bay for hours. I might be sitting on the Tethered AC on the charger and see them return, but that has been out of order since the Hyundai that had to use it last week came off the charger. Fault reported by me 3 times now to CPS since last week, silence since the first report.

Kamiq corroded rear brake discs
Common across the Skoda models. Easier to do something about with the cars like yours without an e-Brake where you can apply the parking / hand brake a bit to clean off cosmetic rust. As for spirited / sporting driving or even doing 500 miles a day everyday, that does not mean that the rear brakes are being asked to do much, or even the front ones with people who drive looking ahead, using the gear shifter etc, even with a DSG. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/510933-brake-disc-rustscoring

Karoq space saver 2022
@SchtumThat is what that button is for and since ASR / TC buttons have been fitted. That is not the ESP though that you are turning off. They are all components of that though. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/510278-acronyms/names

Start / Stop with DSG sometimes fails to start after it stops at traffic lights etc, dash display reads "Start car Manually" or something like that
I know nothing about the batteries but someone that does will be along. Did your require coding and was that done?

Start / Stop with DSG sometimes fails to start after it stops at traffic lights etc, dash display reads "Start car Manually" or something like that
Sorry not an answer concerning your fault, but the car with a DSG should start with the shifter in N (not just in P) unless the ambient temperature is @ -8*oC or lower. Try that until you get things sorted. New battery or whatever.

TDI 200 high oil consumption
Was the oil level correct when the car was collected when checked at operating temperature as it should be & also when stone cold? ? How is the car used, short cold start trips, or longer up to temp trips. Some oil consumption in the first 5,000 km and higher in that time is what the Owners Manual says, but they have for every engine for decades. Then the may use 0.5 litres / 1,000 Km that has been said for years / decades. 4 litres in 12,500 miles is quite a lots. Personally i would be doing an oil and filter change now and not wait to 18,000-20,000 miles / 24 months. EVEN THOUGH IT IS LIKE GETTING OIL CHANGES JUST BY HOW MUCH GETS PUT IN IT. So new oil & filter, the Correct amount of oil. Service indicator reset. Dealership informed of the oil use incase it gets worse not better. I take it is is the crap VW509 00 , 0w 20 FS IV oil that is uses and you are topping up with.

My Yeti, My Dilemma
Once done in the traditional way this time and a new sump plug used maybe do oil changes using a suction pump. As many service places do and DIY,ers.

Next-Gen Skoda Kodiaq Spied In Production Body
Sooner in Norway. As it is on the Hybrid thing I am not sure that is finalised in the UK or the EU or Europe. Passenger cars and light goods vehicles. Maybe someone has the latest news on that. Maybe someone knows when the war in Ukraine ends and if there is no other wars start in Europe or World Pandemics.

2yr review..!
Ford in the UK used to have almost as many just Fiesta first registered in a years than all the Skoda models combined. They were and still are on a different level of volume sales. Even though they do register lots of them to their selves, as Skoda, VW, Audi & SEAT do. During Covid. http://www.best-selling-cars.com/britain--uk/2021-full-year-britain-best-selling-car-brands-in-the-uk

Is there a fully manual option on auto VRS?
They are Automated Manuals. Is it when you are shifting manually that you mean? The reason they ignore the gear who chose if it really is the wrong one is to stop them being wrecked. I had a DQ250 in a 2.0 TDI SEAT and i had wished it had ignored me when i went down 2 gears and knew all about it as it was like hitting a wall.
