  1. Those days have not gone no mater what the DVSA / DfT or Transport Ministers might say.

The 1.0 / 1.5 Petrol / Mild Hybrid / DSG's from VW Group will do as well as the various other manufacturers 1.0-1.6 litre hybrid autos that are going to cover the forecourts / showrooms as they all need the Low Average Emission figures. It hardly matters if they have 3 or 4 cylinders anymore.
  3. @A1cos We are well OT now. Businesses can be run honestly and look busy busy busy and be busy and that allows plenty of coming and going of vehicles. Drugs is one business that goes well with Taxis / Airport Transport / Public Service Vehicles / Football Clubs. So that covers Glasgow / Strathclyde and other parts of Scotland. Even more Cash with no cards in Ice Cream / Burger Vans, Karting Tracks, Play Centres etc etc. Cash / Notes is not King as a PITA to receive, move about, pass on, bank etc as they can be marked and traced. Coins are great, hence there were Arcades / Bandit's / Coin Operated Gaming Machines / Launderettes / £1 Bottle Bars in Clubs etc etc A reason to bank larger amounts of untraceable coins, put it in the tills and vans / stalls floats etc, and get shot of notes in the change etc. Putting it to the Football Grounds was handy at the time of people buying season tickets with cash money in the good old days.

Many reading this thread will have been getting about in vehicles and driving them since before anyone bothered about 'Safety Ratings' and if they did think about safety maybe a few decades back they started driving Volvo's and they thought they were safer while those not in a Volvo did not want one crashing into them.
  5. @310golfr 'Obviously.' As to not many places, that is not very accurate. Many many places do charge £54.85 or the appropriate cost for the class of vehicle. Often where there is no competition from other testing stations. & people / businesses can make money / profits / a living doing MOT's honestly. (Then some like to run them as a front, as around Glasgow...)
  6. Initiating the Manufacturers Warranty / Skoda Assist / Countdown to MOT at 3 years old all start when First Registered in the UK.
  7. @DHarry You do have 'Low Oil' & 'Low Oil Pressure' Warning lights and messages that appear. A Yellow Oil Can Light & a Red Oil Can light. ? So how much oil did your car require to have the oil level on the dipstick back up to where it should be when the oil is checked 'At normal operating temperature' parked on the flat after a few minutes. (That is not cold or warm oil being checked, but you can do that before starting the car if you want.)
  8. £54.85 for a UK MOT and obviously places can do it cheaper.

Be it fixed servicing or flexible they will use 'Long life oil'. So VW 504/507 The 504 bit is TSI's, TDI's 507. Same if they go VW 508/509 508 for TSI's 509 for TDI's.
  10. Welcome. There are 2 other threads at least in this section regarding cracked Panoramic Roofs. A Google will find you them. EDIT. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/416477-cracked-panoramic-roof-update http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/474300-panoramic-roof-crack
  11. @softscoop What tyre pressure are you running the rear wheels at? What tyres fitted and what size, and load in the car?
  12. briskoda angel tuning
  13. @Bengunn007 There is a Search function on Briskoda, and even a Search engine with keywords 'briskoda angel tuning' brings up a few threads.
  14. ? So can a full size alloy with a 19" tyre matching the 4 the car has fit in the spare tyre well, so that someone might be able to continue a journey even slightly slowing down if no repair or replacement 19" tyre is available because of where or when a puncture happens, so within limping distance with a 280ps car, rather than putting on an Emergency Use pretty rubbish 'nearly the same circumference narrower / different compound spare tyre / wheel.
  15. @Max99 Welcome. Why not take one of the wheels off the car and try it in the spare tyre well and see if it fits. After all if you had a spare and a full car and boot the punctured tyre on the wheel needs to get carried someplace and the spare tyre well is the correct place fore them.
  16. Sounds good and hopefully all is well.
  17. If you get someone to map it that is that. The car will weigh the same and brake the same as it does now and stop from the same speeds as it does now. Unless you drive at higher speeds than you do now and floor the accelerator at every possible time the economy might well be better than standard driving the same routes at the same speeds as now.

@DSL. A hot spot as nothing to leak there as LPG V8. But there was a cooker, fridge, sink and drain outlet.
  19. @Rankaclank Who at Skoda UK or Skoda CZ told you that? Best get that in writing from them, with their name, job title and relevant qualifications. So no 'Anti stall' with your vehicle then!
  20. Costco 'fitters / center managers' are the very people that say they can not fit new tyres to just the front of cars they have to go to the rear. 'Insurance you know / they say'. They do not know their different Haldex's from their elbows.
  21. ^^^ That was later.@edbostan Fur coat and no knickers first.
  22. @edbostan It was 'If everything in life was as reliable as a Volkswagen' '( Golf) '. Which actually meant without the VW Spin that it could be pretty crap really. Especially the model / actresses life.
