  1. Not needed - two things to fix the MIB system: 1) Get the latest firmware version for your Amunsden system - sound from 0468/0472 is weak and poor. 0478 fixes this. 2) Enable up Skoda Surround (and Virtual Base) (to be done after a 0478 update)
  2. Assume you have looked on the https://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/ to check out if there is a new firmware update for your unit?? You will also find updated maps in there too.
  3. So - just to clarify - what lights do you have on the doors? Coming Home Puddle Lights (located in the bottom of the wing mirrors) or Door Card Safety Warning Lights (located in the front doors). The downlight projection usually comes from a modified light for the Door Card Safety Warning Lights. On Scout's - they are fairly highly spec'd - somewhere between an SE-L and L&K model, you should have the Door Card Safety Warning Lights. If so, it is a simple swap-out. http://www.kopacek.com/Skoda/OCTAVIA-III/Octavia-III-MEGA-POWER-LED-safety-door-lights-with-GHOST-light-OCTAVIA-WHITE
  4. You don't really need VCDS - its only needed to clear firmware version issues on the CANBUS network (which you can ignore anyway).
  5. 2.0TDI Engines are different beasts - and whether it is a 1.6 or a 2.0TDI engine, different methods of applying the firmware apply (because they are different engines). OP stated a 1.6 TDI
  6. I have to update that article, but the principles still apply. If you ask @pab567 he can advise on firmware files.
  7. Agreed - the bottom of that expansion tank does not look good. I think Silica has gotten into the heater matrix; there is a TPI associated with this, so agreed - get Skoda to do it under Warranty. FYI - I removed a silica teabag from a 68k mile VRS and I caught it JUST in time - the faulty seam at the top of the silica teabag was about to split. It is so much harder if you have a double-skinned tank. Pot luck on which one you get. Hope you get it sorted soon.
  8. In theory (and depending on how new your MK3 FL car is), it could be a swap and replace. Remember that you will need to disarm the airbag system before going anywhere near the steering wheel. The BCM must be similar functioned, although I've noticed that a number of the functions are slightly different, so your results may not be as expected. Its an interesting project. Why (just out of interest) do you want to change it over?
  9. I think it would be useful to see what version of firmware you are on. I am sure that version 1433 is the latest firmware for the Columbus system. To get us that information, (in the same vain as the Amunsden system), press and HOLD MENU, go to Software and Software Version. Send us that info and we will do all we can to assist.
  10. Err - no - you need a SOP3.x version firmware unless you are willing to patch and hack your MIB system. I think the latest firmwre is 0365.
  11. Okay - for non FL cars manual cars, there are a couple of things you can do: 1) Get the gearbox oil changed. Ignore Skoda who say that it is oil for life - nonesense. I would recommend getting the manual gearbox oil change done every 40-50k. This will make the gearbox sweet as a nut again. 2) Get the clutch and gear level positioning checked. Any issues with thrust bearings or the clutch not fully dis-engaging the clutch will cause problems. In all fairness for VAG manual gearboxes, this is normal on non-Facelifted Octavias. When the gearbox is cold, just be patient between first to second gear. Be thankful that you don't have a 4x4 manual, which I had on my 2016 Scout, because the extra cardan shaft exerted extra pressure onto that gear making it a nightmare when cold. You'll notice that Skoda stopped selling manual 4x4's from 2016 onwards (I had one of the last).
  12. There's your first problem. You used the Voice Commands on the MIB system. Big mistake. There are a number of bug fixes which can be fixed with 0478 - you might want speak with @pab567who can assist there. If you are not technically proficient, then come back to me and I'll see what I can do to assist.
  13. I think most folk around the 1.6TDI engines are feeling somewhat sceptical around having software updates after the EURO5 debarcle. This isn't the same issue, its a problem whereby NOx levels maybe too high and a firmware update to the ECU will actually improve mpg. Skoda UK are trying to head off failures of the DPF and Catalyst early and this can be performed by tweaks to the engine. I know that people don't like change and some folk feel that Skoda will turn their 1.6TDI Ferrari into a 1.6TDI Snail-Mobile. The good news as this is a firmware change (as opposed to firmware change and a wholesale change of the injector ports for the EURO5 emissions scandel for the 1.6TDI engines), it can in theory be rolled back if the owner feel strongly enough and asks their dealer. Skoda UK have tested this change, so this isn't a case of testing on your customers.
  14. If they have access to the VW back-end system (ie they are a VW Group dealer) and they've done this work, then it should be listed - otherwise, it is just trusting the selling dealership who has done the work.
  15. They need to put it into the official Service History which they need to send to you. If they do not do have it in the list (ie it should say - Water pump + Timing Belt) - then its not done. Do not be fobbed off with a Service History Certificate (which isn't official).
  16. Water pump and timing belt issues are a known issue on non-FL models; glad the selling dealer has resolved the issue.
  17. Officially, SOP3.x versions cannot be upgraded although there are folk on here who say it can be done, you are really pushing the boundaries. 0478 is the latest version at the moment available to us. I've checked Skoda erWin and they say to apply 0478 for any radio gremlins.
  18. I am fairly sure it somehow slides - off. Something tells me there is a captive screw keep the sliding part in place. I'll check and get back to you.

  20. I have just had a quote to replace the clutch and the DMF on the DQ250 gearbox on this car. This came in at £2368.12 from our local Skoda dealer. Almost fell off my perch on this one. I am in discussions with selling dealer about the car. Nobody is keen to move quickly to sort this out, so I will have to escalate this to Skoda UK for their attention - I have been promised a call from their Customer Service Manager.
  21. Huawei products were prevented by the US Government from using Google Play Services. It means that Huawei cannot by law put Google Play onto their Android Handsets - it means that Huawei have their own eco-system in terms of apps (so you do get apps but they aren't necessarily the latest and greatest) , so it means that apps are outdated and the Android firmware that Huawei run is old and unpatched.
  22. Arh....no....sorry....it's about the settings on how the phone uses battery power. There is usually a battery saving mode or power mode. This needs to be in normal or non-power saving mode.....but agree that Huawei products are very crippled without Google Services and you might be best looking at a different handset (even a Samsung A Series phone is a good bet these days).
  23. They are great tyres and IMHO are the best rubber you can put on the VRS.
