  1. Interesting - the Milenco one that came second is the 4Tress I have that Milenco now have the production rights for: 4TRESS - elamdesign - Product Design Consultancy based in West Yorkshire - Specialising in product innovation, design, development and styling.
  2. For info latest guidance on car park design is for spaces to be 200mm wider and longer - so a standard space would be 5.0m x 2.6m as opposed to 4.8m x 2.4m, with high turnover bays being wider at 2.7m and disabled bays at 3.8m wide as opposed to 3.6m.
  3. Depends what it is... Suzuki swift sport hybrid 1025kg Non Sport version 975kg
  4. Totally agree... Overbanding makes sense to me as an engineer and from experience but try telling that to the lawyers...
  5. That's called overbanding but, as @Lee mentioned, it has fallen out of favour with many highway authorities as it creates a potential skidding risk and the authorities are risk averse.
  6. Absolutely... Certain utility companies are terrible... But some do repairs a million times better than tbe local authorities.
  7. Just for info road pavement construction and lifetime calculations use MSA or million standard axles and the calcs generally ignore cars and LGVs. There are factors to apply in the calcs for them but they don't usually have much impact or make much difference as the axle weights are small compared to HGVs. Also that reference document re weights and dimensions is effectively superseded now as Longer Semi Trailers or LSTs are now allowed to be used on the road generally and not just as part of a long running trial. If I remember I'll dig out the technical note for the calcs tomorrow as it's on my laptop from some analysis I did for United Utilities and Lancashire County Council last year. I'm pretty certain it's CD 224.
  8. And those black wheels look awful and very small at the back compared to the body above. It may be an optical illusion but even so... Meh
  9. This was an issue over 20 years ago with the Mk1 Fabia... Excessive inner edge tyre wear, mostly on the fronts. We had it on our Fabia but after a toe correction by a local tyre fitter at the first replacement of the tyres it was fine for another 100k miles. You'd have thought they would have learned...
  10. WTF are you on about??? Drivers still have the same distance to travel... Queues may be slightly shorter length wise and they might clear slightly quicker but that's all. A Passenger Car Unit will still be classed as 5.75m for highway and junction design purposes and Stop Line Saturation flows won't change so any affects will be relatively minor.
  11. From £65k to £77k before options... That's not in any way cheap compared to a Kodiaq which starts at £35k ish for similar space. Thats a price difference of £30k!! That buys an awful lot of fuel...
  12. Both according to dictionary definition.
  13. I regularly do 3.5. not quite the same but still more than seems to be the EV standard?
  14. Indeed.... When I replace the Swift, which incidentally has a near 300 mile range despite its tiny fuel tank, I'll probably go electric but will only want to pay about £11k which is what I paid for the Swift which is a top of the range model and had only done 800miles. Even the Kodiaq with 16k miles was only £18k and the most I've ever paid for a vehicle in nearly 40 years of motoring.
  15. Look up the meaning of ignorant and you will see it is commonly used as a rude and insulting term. You would be better using 'ill informed' as it is not rude and insulting.
  16. I think you'll find it IS the reason for a large swathe of the population, particularly in relation to initial outlay, even second hand (looking at the prices for something comparable in terms of mileage and size to the vehicles we have).
  17. Oh totally agree... I only use one on my old MX5 as an additional deterrent alongside a comprehensive immobiliser but am well aware that if someone really wants it they'll have it. But if it makes them think twice and move on somewhere else it's done its job.
  18. I very much doubt it's the fob batteries... Far more likely to be the detector coil or starter button.
  19. Sound like the haldex needed servicing and the filter replaced. Ours would transfer power quickly albeit it did need a few degrees of wheel rotation first as the early haldex weren't predictive or pre-engaged. As I said in the other thread we had no such problems but hey ho...
  20. Had the haldex been properly serviced and the filter replaced?
  21. Crap tyres might have been your problem with the Octavia Scout too...
  22. Interesting... Never had any of those issues in our 2007 4x4...
  23. I worked with Drax many years ago on their proposals for biomass co-firing - specifically in relation to the transport and delivery of the biomass and the facilities for it. At that stage I seem to recall it was intended to be a mix of wood pellets and rapeseed co-firing...
  24. I use one of these (or at least a previous version of it - called 4TRESS) in my MX5 - it's a lot less bulky than the disclock and probably not a resistant but is still a good deterrent... High Security Steering Wheel Lock - Milenco, Europe's leading manufacturer of award winning caravan products
  25. Try this - for some reason the site seems to be trying to embed the links instead of just leaving them as-is... TPMS activation, reset, and disable coding with VCDS - mk6 VW | Ross-Tech Forums
