WW VRS - Fabia vRS Combi

Featured Replies

I remember reading somewhere that bleach does a good job on removing chrome from plastic parts.

Yep, it does the trick. Popular for removing the chrome from std Fabia front grilles, for example :)

  • I've stripped both cars, cleaned the estate and today i got the engine loom, abs pump, brake lines etc swapped. I had a mechanic friend over doing the clutch, timing belt, water pump, hybrid turbo et

  • Tell me about it, i'm always fixin them. So far in my house he has fitted a dimmer switch, something is wrong here.

  • You excited yet?

Carb cleaner also works but be carefull it can melt plastic if left on too long.

Grills etc it is best to remove the chrome but tbh int he headlamp behind a lens its not going to get hit so a good key should be plenty.

this thread is becoming somewhat educational

Everyday is a school day on Briskoda.

The school run this morning sucked the big one though  - my mate had to pick me up, came from Didcot, one way system to mine, then back onto A34 past Didcot. That's twice the traffic, 45 mins spent in Abingdon for him in total

Hoping all is going well :) A little off-topic but is there a way of finding out when an MOT is due for this one? (other than finding the papers back?)

  • Author

I'll just do an MOT on it anyhow, start you off with a fresh 12 months on your 'new' car.

 - it will be quite a transformation I'm sure :D

Just re-reading the title of this thread - it could be misunderstood that WW himself is being re-built......

In some ways a lot of (re)building of my life is going on ;) hehe - just like with the car, I'd like to be in the driving seat a bit more soon

Fingers crossed things will work out the way they are meant to, there are many body parts crossed on that one :P

thats a good day, ive known people just to turn around and go around the outer ring road because of how slow it moves through there.

During that time the ring road was not even moving - we went A'don North initially, but the 2nd roundabout on that after my place showed a stationary queue. Got a bit lucky to be fair :D

Last couple of pics for now. I have done a few things as a suprise for Wiebo on how the car is going to look and I want to save that for when its done.

Outside its pretty much done now, few brake pipes to sort, got to get a 5L washer bottle on and tidy up a bit. Just the wiring loom to lay inside and swap/put the interior back in.

Hiding the good stuff :P

Lights looking great, I still remember them being rather 'holed' hehe ;)

Grab me on MSN when you are sure about the dates etc and I'll try to book a replacement windscreen person to visit :)

Last time I called autoglass in to sort it, any preference?

Autoglass is fine by me, ill be in touch.

Just waiting for the bumper to come back then she will 'look' done. Just about everything mechancal is now on. Wiring loom is inside at the front just running it too the rear. I have turned the forge pipe that holds the MAP sensor in upside down so it clears the lock carrier, this meant I had to extend the loom but it looks much neater this way. New driveshaft is fitted so she rolls nicely now its all pointing in the right direction. May even start up tomorrow.

Just noticed you've modded the crash bar too - Nice touch.

Coming together very nicely

The anticipation of the finished pics and testdrive is killing me. Easy for me to say as I'm not the one putting in what is a heckuva lotta work.

Respect.

Looking very nice

Looking awesome - massive progress since I was there a month or so back!

You should clean up the callipers whilst the wheels are off, has baker not made his visit yet? ;)

That's proper calliper dust buildup that
