I got one from naviandbmwparts

It arrived from Lithuania in a week, and literally came out of the box and into the car - plug and play at it's finest, and no messing about with wiring wondering if you've got a live feed etc.

I would be very wary about buying expensive car-related items from anywhere in Eastern Europe. I have relatives in Eastern Europe and have visited some of these countries on a regular basis over the past 10 years. There is a big criminal fraternity involved in stealing cars and car-related items in western countries (particularly Germany) and shipping the stuff East. I've been to Lithuania and half the cars over there are stolen vehicles. Albania is the worst though. Lots of Mercs on the road and most of them nicked!

As a buyer, you are unlikely to have issues. Like any seller on Ebay they want to preserve a good reputation and gain good feedback. You have to think about where the goods might have come from in the first place though.

The guy I dealt with was actually in Ireland.

I got chatting to him before purchase.

He didn't tell me how, but he told me that he basically bought RNS510's and others in "bulk" as faulty.

He said that for every truly faulty unit that was dead for good he would get 2-3 that required simple work to get back up and running.

He did the work, tested them and then sold them on at a good profit.

I'd like to think that not everybody is out there selling stolen goods.

Units down to £600 now - if I knew it was definitely stolen I personally wouldn't buy.

But if I don't know I have to trust people at face value, needs to be some trust left in the world.

You have to think about where the goods might have come from in the first place though.

As I have mentioned in previous threads, the plants that refurbish the columbus/rns510 etc. units is located in eastern europe. The sellers typically buy these units from official outlets for a good price and then list them on ebay. Whilst I have no dought in say that some maybe stolen, if you find a seller that has 100% feedback over a long period and sells nothing bat navi units then you should have no problems.

Mine came from eastern europe, from one of the sellers with links in this thread. Came with code, and everything you would expect for a refurb unit.

My 510 arrived from Lithuania yesterday, 6 days after payment (I chose standard postage). Absolutely perfect. Even came with a 2GB SD card which I wasn't expecting. That grielka guy is a legend.

Yeah, it's not a bad price, but personally, I'd wait for grielka's next £600 buy it now on ebay and save yourself a hundred quid.

Not updated this for a while, however there seems to be an increased interest in these once more.

The reason why I don`t buy these from auctions is that if those happen to break down, I don`t think that it would be worth while to repair them. And warranty exists no more...I think. :(

Not quite ebay but the OEMretrofit guys seem to be doing their units for £690 fitted now. I'm in two minds as they only have 3 month warranties, but then again is that any worse than fleabay stuff?

That's pretty competitive, seeing as you're having it fitted and setup, plus a warranty that will cover any initial niggles and issues. Plus you're dealing with someone here in the UK.

Those points stack up quite favourably IMO.
