Those looking for Skoda RNS510 - EBay

Featured Replies

I'm not promoting these auctions - they have nothing at all to do with me!

However I know some people are keeping an eye open for an RNS510 for their Skoda.

The "Skoda Green" ones are a little bit rarer than the "VW Red" ones (which appear very often).

So as a service, in case anybody is interested, a few Skoda units have appeared on EBay:

I got one from naviandbmwparts

It arrived from Lithuania in a week, and literally came out of the box and into the car - plug and play at it's finest, and no messing about with wiring wondering if you've got a live feed etc.

Pictures of fitted item (day and night) can be found on the following threads :-

An update on my experience of buying a Skoda RNS510/Columbus on ebay: I used the same seller as thebrymar. My unit arrived in a week. Very well packed and in as new condition. There's a sticker on the unit giving the date of manufacture as March 2008.

Wiring a 13amp plug is about the limit of my electrical capability, so I had the unit fitted to the Octy by a local independent car audio specialist, using the fascia parts I sourced from my local dealer. Absolutely no problems.

I have no Maxidot (yet!) to code it to, so just plug and play, with no rewiring required to retain input from both CD changer and Aux socket.

Looks great in the car and early impressions are that sound quality is noticeably better than the Stream MP3 head unit it has replaced. :D

So what next? I can see where people on here are coming from when they say that retrofitting can become addictive.

Glad to hear that your experience was as painless as mine - I wouldn't normally entertain a car with built in satnav, but at that price and ease of fitting you can't go wrong. You'll have great fun exploring everything it can do !

Good to hear of another good EBay experience.

All it will take is for one "less than ideal" experience and it'll put people off.

Just as an update:

Currenty EBay have no Skoda RNS510/Columbus units up for sale.

I'm sorry, but are none of you wary that these might be stolen items?

Remember: if it sounds too good to be true...

:eek::eek: Errrrr.............never thought of that (joking)

These items are all advertised as used items, and as such are going to sell for an awful lot less than a new item.

I both buy and sell items on ebay, and am well aware of how much you lose when selling against the RRP.

I have no qualms that the items are above board - I'm sure that if they weren't the sellers would have been found out by now, and would no longer be trading on ebay.

It is always a possibility.

However a stolen unit is useless without its code and as far as I'm aware the only way you can find out the code is to take it to a Skoda dealer and then they start asking for proof of purchase etc.

MOst of us have been buying from people who have sold an awful lot of these units.

They are advertised as "removed from scrapped vehicle" or as "refurb" units - nobody has bought one as brand new as far as I know.

Many factories sell "non working" units to people for a small amount.

It could be the unit cannot be repaired - buyer loses out, or if it can and relatively easily then the buyer has themselves a nice deal and profit to be made.
